if it becomes VIP, it gets advertised, or you hear about it from people.
i'd say a moderator saying that the thing is patched, locking the thread, and moving it to the "patched/old releases section" counts as patched.
and considering the forums aren't in turmoil about getting banned, either the amount was negligible, nobody cares, or nobody got banned.
