Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - White - 2011-06-08 Rick Wrote:I suggest everyone just stop conversing with White now. No matter what arguments anyone has, as long as one of the parties holds the belief that lack of evidence proves the contrary, they are a complete lost cause. <3 you too and your cute little dog ^_^ Panacea Wrote:I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you, White, are heterosexual. Yes, I am. Panacea Wrote:With that assumption made, I'll ask you: Yes. I think sucking on another man's penis or accepting it into my anus is disgusting. Additionally, having actually tried both, I can say with confidence, they are disgusting. Panacea Wrote:And if you happen to be homosexual, do you choose it? Again, why? Not applicable. EDIT: Mira Wrote:Actually, I'm glad you read the articles. Don't you think it's nice to read up on things and learn more about them? However, it's useless debating with you; someone so entrenched in their beliefs to be blind to other possibilities will never change. Instead of trying to see the other side of the argument, you completely ignore it and mock it as if it is nothing. I only argued so much to one point to get you to see that there is a possibility of it being biological. Instead, you continue down the path of closed mindedness. I cannot reply to your arguments because they are not logical, at least, not logical to me. Can you address my concerns? Any of them? I voiced them calmly and logically. Any refutation? Or are you just going to say "you're wrong, you'll never see the light, I pity you"? If the best you can do is claim i'm ignorant and closeminded without actually addressing my statements after I read your articles and addressed your statements, then I pity you. ![]() Mira Wrote:Not everything is black and white. You have never taken a stats class, have you? I have, and I felt tricked during the whole thing because it's called a math class. Mira Wrote:Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING is 100% when it comes to numbers, studies, and experiments. We can NEVER be 100% sure, only 99.99999999999999(etc.)% sure. Yes, this is true. Taking that a step further, it's a statement that science cannot actually prove something. Just throwing that out there. I'd also like to state that 50-60% is a far cry from 99.999999999999%. Mira Wrote:As humans, we can't even be 100% sure of our own existence. Talking about existentialism in a discussion of being born gay? Mira Wrote:Also, have you ever dissected a sheep brain, heart, eyeball, or other organ in an Anatomy class? Did the cow brain and frog in a kids thing (don't really know what to call it) when I was about 12 and the fish/pig/eyeball etc in Bio 2. Mira Wrote:Sheep organs are used because they are so similar to human organs. We do have many things in common anatomically with animals such as sheep and pigs. A sheep isn't a pig....lol. There're a lot of differences between those two. Not the least of which is diet. Sheep don't eat meat, pigs and human do. That's a huge difference. Dealing with all the enzymes and nutrients and catalysts that must also be made and dealt with is no small feat, and definitely requires the brain as the seat of the endocrine system is the brain, manifested through the pituitary. Sure, we have things in common, but we have a great deal that isn't in common. It doesn't its a private school. And god you're still so hyper anti-religious i already feel too tired to continue. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Corn - 2011-06-08 Hey Southperry gays (I'm looking at you, Eos, Daku, and friends) did you choose to be gay? [/end thread] Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Panacea - 2011-06-08 What drove you to actually try it? Curiosity, or the belief that if you tried it, you could then say you chose to be straight if you found that homosexuality just wasn't for you? Awkwardly worded, I think, but you get the idea. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - White - 2011-06-08 Panacea Wrote:What drove you to actually try it? Curiosity, or the belief that if you tried it, you could then say you chose to be straight if you found that homosexuality just wasn't for you? I actually tried it when I was 13 or 14, around then, because I was sexually frustrated and didn't know what to do. Had hormones going on and didn't know any girls that would experiment with me, and I knew a guy. So we tried stuff and it was miserable and we're both still heterosexual. I've been dating my girlfriend for two and a half years now and he's engaged, getting married in Jan.
Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - octopusprime - 2011-06-08 Mira Wrote:It isn't just testosterone. You're being quite closed minded about this; the brain is MUCH more complicated then that, and humans as a whole are just beginning to understand it - we haven't even scratched the surface. The STRUCTURE and SHAPE of their brain is DIFFERENT. That effects many more hormones than just testosterone! That effects more then just hormones as well, it effects how they process things and how their brain functions and much more than I could even begin to explain and understand. There is no ONE CAUSE for being homosexual, it's a cumulative effect. Just as there is no ONE CAUSE for developing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, and many other diseases. Biology isn't as simple as many people believe and want it to be. Every human, every living thing is complex. Homosexuals are born that way; there is no choice. Oh pineapple me, this pomegranate again. It's one study it is misquoted more often than it is quoted correctly. The original study made no deteremination of causality. It isn't known which is the cause. I'll digg up an interview with one of the key researchers... The scent study i have not seen much. and i havent seen the data itself at all. They do claim they have cause but the only proof i find for that is the assertion of Michael G. DeGroote. He finds a difference and just assumes that it must hold causality. Despite the more famous "gay brain" study by Simon LeVay (circa '91 quite literally the study that first gave any sort of evidence to a physical difference in the brains of gay and straight men. You could say it started all this. Oh and one thing to note is a quick inaccuracy in the wiki. the size of the INAH3 in gay men is not the same as women, but the proportion. That is besides the point as i don't have time or care to proofread a wiki article) and followed up with a bit more research and thoroughness by one of his biggests critics William Byne. Byne confirmed LeVay's findings in that INAH3 did in fact exist and that In homosexual it was not on average, proportionate to the control group. So that part is confirmed. It's science, real facts. Things you can straight up go look at. What is not science, however, is the media pomegranate storm that followed. Things saying that a genetic difference was found and that the shape of the brain was different (sort of true but that's a pretty big spin when one considers the size of the INAH3. since i'm lazy and i found the article i was looking for initially, well you can read the thoughts of LeVay on exactly what his study found. Summary: He stresses that he didn't show that the difference is a cause or an effect as well as that the difference is not necessarily genetic as his study has nothing to do with genetics. This new swedish scent study seems to just find another possible correlation and instead of behaving like scientists they behave like media whores who need money for funding and claim it's a cause. Reeks of bullshit. Also the gay sheep article is just... find me another source and i'll try and finish it. Differences in homo and hetero adults = genetic differences. Science hasn't really proved that you are or aren't born gay just yet. So please, lay off the media driven articles when you're thinking something has been proven. A.k.a. when the gay gene is found and traced, not when it is hypothesized. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Panacea - 2011-06-08 Didn't ask about your girlfriend, but okay. It's been five years since I took Biology as a freshman in high school, so forgive me if I make an erroneous jump in conclusion. Wouldn't you say that the repulsion of another man's penis is chemical, however? Just as different people enjoy different foods, which isn't really a choice, but rather chemical as well? I hate to also single out Cedric who's been suffering with his homosexuality, but as an observer of his life by what he posts here I would find it hard to believe that being gay is simply a choice and nothing further. You don't choose who you're attracted to; it just happens. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Corn - 2011-06-08 EOS!?!?!? VERNACULAR (lol)!?!? DAKU!?! FROZNITE!?!? MYLES!?!??! GREG!?!? MARK!?!?!? Why aren't you guys here? Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - White - 2011-06-08 Panacea Wrote:Wouldn't you say that the repulsion of another man's penis is chemical, however? Definitely. We are born heterosexually. Panacea Wrote:Just as different people enjoy different foods, which isn't really a choice, but rather chemical as well? It's not a choice? My own dad started eating healthier after he developed Acid Reflux. He used to not like his veggies that much, he'd eat them but wasn't a fan. Now, he loves a big salad with all sorts of fruits and veggies. Chemical? I think the chemicals in the foods we eat are taken in and processed and interpreted but I wouldn't say that we are hardwired to not like certain foods. Some people even like brussel sprouts! Blechhhh. As for attraction, I honestly cannot speak of the matter as I don't know what chemical links there may or may not be. Saying it's just innate though seems a bit presumptuous. I'd chalk it up to a mixture of nature vs nurture, which is where I stand on many issues like this. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Eos - 2011-06-08 White Wrote:Yes. I think sucking on another man's penis or accepting it into my anus is disgusting. Additionally, having actually tried both, I can say with confidence, they are disgusting. Congratulations on having provided your own proof that it's either something you're naturally inclined to or not, because by your own previous statements if it were something that one becomes habituated towards you would now be more inclined to do it again and enjoy it, and have begun the gaying process. By your own admissions you can't just flip a switch and redirect who you're attracted to and enjoy the company of. You "experimented" outside your box and found it was not for you, why is it so hard for you to accept that for some people the attraction polarity is reversed somehow? I was certainly gay for nearly a decade before engaging in sexual activity. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Rick - 2011-06-08 White Wrote:Definitely. We are born heterosexually. If you can believe we are born heterosexually, when there is no proof, why can you not believe we are born homosexually? I think you just don't want to. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Panacea - 2011-06-08 It'd be nice if you didn't make statements without actually proving them, either with a source or your own knowledge. I was using the food analogy because while this person may like carrots, another may not. They don't choose to not like them though, they just don't. Of course I could be wrong. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Sarah - 2011-06-08 Whoa, guys, he's taken it in the butt and hated it. Pretty sure that no one here is qualified to argue against that. Sarah Wrote:Whoa, guys, he's taken it in the butt and hated it. Pretty sure that no one here is qualified to argue against that. I know dozens of guys who've tried to sleep with women to "get over the gay", didn't work so well for them. If anything it just proves you can't forcibly change who / what gender you're naturally attracted to. The people attracted to both have the best options for fitting in normally. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - octopusprime - 2011-06-08 I contend that we are born devoid of sexuality, prove me wrong. Also i just did a pretty big edit to my above post for those of you who smelled an edit and were curious. So the first couple times you eat brussel sprouts you'll start to enjoy it and eat them more often? I'll flat out say it. Homosexuality is wrong. I won't beat around the bush, I won't preface that with with "I believe". That's not my attempt at flaming nor an attempt at insulting any specific individuals. The actions associated with homosexuality are not normal or natural, and that's that. I'm not saying I hate gays, keep that in mind. I'm voicing where I stand because I feel it's a travesty what this culture has done to voicing unpopular sentiments. I have a lot more respect for those of you that disagree with me, but say so in calm and reasonable ways, than for the silent people that won't make up their mind one way or the other and stand by it. It's hard for me to not make the association between how the culture treats unpopular sentiments with how those that voice the unpopular sentiments then voice those unpopular sentiments. With society shunning un'progressive' (ugh) ideas, only those rather loony and tactless individuals then speak up, and they do so poorly, then putting the whole view which they talk about under a bad light. Rick, the established order has been heterosexuality. To upset the established order, there must be a cause. This is clearly demonstrated throughout history. What do you mean Panacea? Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Sarah - 2011-06-08 So since you believe homosexuality is wrong, did you try it just to rebel or what? Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - Eos - 2011-06-08 White Wrote:So the first couple times you eat brussel sprouts you'll start to enjoy it and eat them more often? I'll flat out say it. The point was you're confusing concepts, terribly. Homosexual sex is the manner in which intimacy is expressed among homosexuals, not the cause of it. The feelings for another man/woman exists regardless of whether sex itself occurs. The only basis for your point of view is "I don't like therefore it must not be natural". I disagree with you because your viewpoint is purely limited to your own feelings and assumes that everyone feels, or is capable of feeling, the exact same way you do it. It's narrow, shallow and egocentric to espouse that you're unequivocally the final word on how any part of the universe works. Ultimately what does it matter to you if it's right or wrong? It's not for you, that's nice, stop trying to force yourself to do it and move on. That doesn't give you any right, moral or otherwise, to try to dictate what is right or natural for anyone else as long as they're not causing harm to themselves or others and can clearly demonstrate consent between all parties. This, to me, is a contradiction. Clarify. White Wrote:Homosexuality is wrong. Two: When I said to provide support for you claims, I meant just that: "We are all born heterosexually." Eos already pointed out that it can be interpreted two ways, and if I interpreted it wrong (ie. We're all born straight, but through nature vs. nurture, are no longer straight because they "choose" to go gay) let me know. Three: What foods you are "attracted to" or "repulsed by" are not a choice you make, but just who you are. My tongue is not fond of carrots, not because of my own will, but merely because they just don't appeal to me. Rainbows banned at Mississauga Catholic school - octopusprime - 2011-06-08 White Wrote:So the first couple times you eat brussel sprouts you'll start to enjoy it and eat them more often? Most of your ideas/values, even the very old ones, were once progressive unless you're rocking some kickass pre-Abrahamic moral codex. What i'm saying is that 80% of this argument is just putting your foot in your mouth. Christ was a progressive my friend. Quote:I'm not saying I hate gays, keep that in mind.
