"I Miss Old Maple" - Raph589 - 2011-05-18 Yes, I miss it. What is so odd is, I was unable to level after 70 before big bang, and thought leveling faster would be more fun. I leveled my mechanic from 1 to 142 in about 2 months. And realized it was not more fun than before only because I could level. I would love to go hardcore on old maple and see if I can actually get to a high level. B>Time machine. "I Miss Old Maple" - SwordStaker - 2011-05-18 While I miss old Maple I don't hate what New Maple is. The community and the game it's self is two different things. I hate the community of Scania with a BURNING passion but I don't hate the game and have come to love it more then I used too. Just because the game has changed doesn't mean your playing habits should. I still explore the new areas and do the quests, I still train spots that "I'm not suppose to train in", I still do everything I used to do, just in a "different" world. It is not like you have to buy into potential, you're still going to 2 - 3 hit monsters on your level apart from those in LKC. I wouldn't mind it if it weren't for the fact that Nexon is balancing all future content AROUND the system itself. PB was the first example of where a boss was only killable if you used the system in the first place. Corn Wrote:But everyone else is soloing Zakum 45 seconds faster I know you're being sarcastic, but when Horntail can get solo'd in a mere 30min as opposed to it taking 1+ hours in a full group, you know there's something wrong. "I Miss Old Maple" - Sarah - 2011-05-18 I miss hunting for Arwen's glass shoe and actually leveling several times in the process. And struggling to find a map that didn't have a hacker in the top right corner and items falling from the sky. I used to sit and watch, hoping the shoe would drop. It did, once, but someone came and stole it. "I Miss Old Maple" - Avoidant - 2011-05-18 I miss the old community. I even miss the older henehoes. People were so much more fun back then. It is not like you have to buy into potential, you're still going to 2 - 3 hit monsters on your level apart from those in LKC. It's pay-for-power in the most direct and extreme way possible. It makes it even more obvious that MapleStory is a game where the richer you are, the more powerful you are. I wasn't one of the Quest Kings 3 years running just for some cheap comparative achievment; I enjoyed it. Although; and maybe my patience has declined; I've had no real interest in re-doing all the quests again after BB. I can't place my finger on it, but it doesn't feel the same. Also I miss going to FoG and CCing around having people ASK if you wanted to join a party as you came by, rather than being told to get lost. One more thing I miss is the time before uber stat common hats which everyone wears. Basically everything else has already been said here that I would say, just as in any other nostagia thread. "I Miss Old Maple" - Polantaris - 2011-05-18 I miss when the cash shop wasn't a scam to get loads of cash (lol). Back when it first came out it was...EXP Cards and Clothes. EXP Cards weren't nearly the scam Cubes are. I mean, think about it...with this Potential system you basically NEED NX to get any good gear, unless you're INSANELY lucky. If the Potential System wasn't reliant on the Cash Shop, it wouldn't be so bad. "I Miss Old Maple" - Xephia - 2011-05-18 Avoidant Wrote:I miss the old community. I even miss the older henehoes. There are some things that I don't miss such as scrounging for pot money, but the game has changed too much. I'd say one of the biggest issues (excluding hackers and whatnot) is the potential system. Some things I do like about the new MS is cheaper pots and maybe easier leveling, though part of me feels it may be too fast in the early levels. Also, I really hate Lionheart and all future places like it. It completely ruins the exploration to find new training grounds and condenses it all into one main area. The only thing good about Lionheart is the party system, but something like that should have been around much earlier. MASSIVELY ONLINE? "I Miss Old Maple" - Locked - 2011-05-18 Dusk Wrote:MASSIVELY ONLINE? He means the multiplayer aspect of the game is depleting, probably. "I Miss Old Maple" - Retalion - 2011-05-19 I've been on both sides of the fence on this one. Yeah, I do miss the "old maple days", when all my friends in real life played together, and we'd go explore things, train, hunt for things together, when every single archer knew every single other archer (Archer Council! lololol), etc. That being said, games change. Its inevitable. Things will ALWAYS change, and in the end, you gotta come to accept it. The old days were fun, but these new days are just as fun. There is nothing preventing anyone from having fun other than the boxes we lock ourselves in, saying "Old maple was funner". I remember having so much fun with a friend that rainbow week event a few weeks/months ago, where you had to turn in crayons for a cloud robe. Yeah, it was silly, the event kinda sucked, it was kinda pointless and all, but it was fun. We had fun with the notion of turning pot (used with a different meaning of course) into crayons, and slowly collecting crayons for this robe with crappy stats. It's also fun to reveal random items you find with hidden potential, just to have them turn 3 line on reveal, but with 3% INT on an archer shoe or something. That being said, hackers can ruin "fun" real fast. I only play this game when it's fun, and I had "fun" collecting maple weapons at hobis, and training my mech at sage cats for maple weapons to trade to coins. It's fun collecting things, till you realize a hacker can do the exact same thing, but in minutes instead of days. There are still "fun" elements to the game, if you just open up your mind to it, and enjoy it for what it is. It might not be the same fun as 6 years ago, but it's still fun nonetheless. "I Miss Old Maple" - Kevo - 2011-05-19 Haven't read these posts but I don't miss old Maple. This game is better than it has ever been. I find the community is not as close/worth logging on for compared to before. I admit I'm jealous of current leveling rates but hey that's probably inevitable.
