A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Herbert Jablonski - 2011-05-07

B) Runs away blindly into the darkness.

Is approaching this person such a wise idea? I mean, you are covered in blood and all. What if it's the killer again and he happens to think you're the person he stabbed already? He'd probably kill you, dude, that's what. Even with a flashlight it's still easy to mistake one bloody dude for another.

A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Salguod - 2011-05-07

If it is the person who stabbed the other guy, I think he would kill you, one way or another. So, it'd be best to try to blind him and get an advantage.

You raise an interesting point though: you look fairly dangerous being blood soaked and all. What if it's some other person who saw the body? This appears likely to me now since Felix seemed to be intentionally vague when he wrote: "With a certain...purpose in their stride." Then you will look like the murderer.

B)

Same reasons as Herbert.

A) Turns on the flashlight to confront the approaching person.

Even if this happens to be a bad end we might find out who this mysterious person is. It might not be the killer.

I'm voting for B, even though we hit the required number. You're covered in blood. Do you really think someone is just gonna be like "ohai"?

B.

Red flags popping up. Run awayyyyy.

. . . turns on the flashlight to confront the approaching person.

With his heart pounding, the man holds the flashlight out in front of him and turns it on. The beam of light cuts through the darkness--but only a short distance--exposing the emptiness and rock-like floor. He instantly notices something doesn't feel quite...normal about it. The footsteps come to a sudden stop. No one stands before the man. He spins around, pointing the light in different directions. It is the same, no matter where he looks: quiet and empty.

"W-who is there? I'm not afraid," the man cries out.

Another minute of silence, and then an unknown voice responds, "Please don't...hurt me... I just wanna know what's happening!" A young woman, visibly frightened, appears before the man. He notices right away that she, too, is covered in blood. They stare at each other, full of fear and confusion. The man tells her that he is just as afraid and offers her his hand. She hesitates for a moment but slowly steps forward and grabs his hand.

"I won't hurt you. I promise," he says. "Why are you covered in blood? Are you hurt?"

"No... I was with someone, but he was killed... I just kept running until I saw your flashli--" The woman cuts herself off and backs away, her eyes wide with terror.

"It wasn't me! Please...you have to believe me. I don't know what's going on either... I stumbled across someone who was killed, too. I took this stuff from him... This is his blood! I don't know who did it!" He tries desperately to explain everything to her, but he hardly understands it himself. She watches him carefully and eventually comes close again.

"I'm really scared. I don't remember anything...or how I even got here. Who I am...nothing," she says. The man puts his arm around her, in an attempt to comfort her. Her whole body twitches in response to his touch, but she quickly relaxes. Finding solace in no longer being alone, they tightly embrace each other.

After they both calm down, his mind begins racing with a fresh sense of hope. He notices she is carrying a bag much like the one he found. The woman is observing him, as well, and makes the same connection. However, he realizes it may not be safe to remain standing still for too long, especially with so much attention on them right now. Before asking anymore questions, the man . . .

A) Tells her about the dripping he heard and suggests finding the source.
B) Suggests searching for any sort of shelter.
C) Betrays her trust, steals her bag and remains on his own.

[SPOILER=Author's comments]
Her inventory probably needs refining. lol Just wanted something rough to have up.

Can it be active progression time now? Been thinking about it way too much during work. Not good when millions of ideas start swirling around.

Though I do have a rough idea of what to aim for now with the three endings.

Five again, by the way.

B. Its been a traumatic first few hours, so you probably feel tired as hell.

A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Salguod - 2011-05-12

B) Suggests searching for any sort of shelter.

Seems like they'll be there for a while. It might also be interesting if she is the murderer after all, but I'm probably just being paranoid.

A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - WingZero - 2011-05-12

B. You have food so shelter should be your next priority.

A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Mira - 2011-05-12

==>B) Suggests searching for any sort of shelter.

Rest up, chit-chat, then for a plan on how to escape. Sounds like a good idea to take shelter at the moment.

A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Holypie - 2011-05-12

B) Suggests searching for any sort of shelter.

Not like betraying her will do you any good, and the dripping seems either irrelevant or a TRAP.

Oh man, she's wearing bra and panties? That's too much clothes for northern hemisphere today!

On topic: A)

. . . suggests searching for any sort of shelter.

"We have a lot of things we need to discuss, but I don't think we should remain here," the man tells her, nervously looking around. She nods and grabs hold of his arm, and they start walking deeper into the unknown. Despite the flashlight's weak beam, it brings them a great deal of comfort. Of course, ever since the light has been on, he can't shake the feeling of being watched. The woman clings tightly to his side as they wander through the seemingly endless space.

"What is this place..." she wonders. "The floor is so strange. Doesn't seem natural...and it just keeps going."

"I haven't come across anything. I think I heard some dripping when I woke up, but I may have been imagining it... I have no idea. I wish we'd find some kind of shelter to hole up in. Being out in the open makes me feel uneasy," he comments.

"I know what you mean... The guy I was with before, uh...we were tired so he suggested resting on the ground here... But when I woke up, he was...he wa--" The woman starts crying again before she can finish her thought.

"It's fine. It's going to be fine," the man insists. "I'm sure we'll stumble across somewh-- Look! Oh my God, look at that!" He directs her gaze to the left, just at the edge of the beam of light. Her heart skips a beat when she notices it, too. A small cabin of sorts. They immediately run over to it, forgetting their fear. It is not large, but it has more than enough room for both of them comfortably. No windows and only one door on the front. Nothing is around it.

"Wait! What if there's someone inside..." she worries. He motions for her to get behind him, and he knocks on the door to check for a response. They wait several minutes in tense silence...but there is not a single sound. Anywhere. The man turns the knob and pulls the door open. He quickly shines the light inside and examines the interior: no living things. Nothing at all, in fact, save for a single bookcase against the far wall lined with several books and a dim overhead light, with no switch in sight. They enter the shed and lock the door.

"This is sort of creepy, honestly," she thinks, "but I feel safer..." As the woman stares curiously at the bookcase, she is suddenly overwhelmed by exhaustion and yawns. He smiles when he notices her quickly losing to the day catching up with her.

"We'll be safe here I think. We should try getting some rest before we go any further," he says.

"Yeaaaaaah--uh, sorry... I just feel really tired all of a sudden..." she responds. The woman lies down on the floor and uses her backpack as a pillow. She moves in close to the man, barely able to keep her eyes open any longer. "Please don't leave me alone again...okay..." He sets his backpack down, too, and lies down next to her.

"I'll get us out of here..." he says, as he falls asleep.

• • •

A strange howling wind jolts the man awake. He sits up and stares at the door, expecting something to burst in at any moment. But nothing does. The howling continues on and off, sometimes louder. Sometimes becoming almost silent. He checks his companion and finds her still sleeping soundly beside him. For the first time, while watching her sleep, he realizes she's quite attractive.

"Wow, what am I thinking..." he says, shaking his head. The howling draws his attention back to outside. He grows more nervous as it seemingly gets closer to the shed. Louder and closer... The man decides to . . .

A) Leave the cabin and investigate.
B) Ignore it and try going back to sleep.
C) Ignore it and examine the bookcase.
D) Ignore it and try examining her backpack.

First to five again.

C) Ignore it and examine the bookcase.

While whether the woman is to be trusted or not remains to be known going outside alone would be foolish, going to sleep is boring, and if you go through her stuff she might wake up and catch you. If she is to be trusted we could lose an ally.

A Southperry Choose Your Own Adventure! [Story/Game] - Holypie - 2011-05-13

C) Ignore it and examine the bookcase.

I agree with Meta, A and D seem like traps, and B is uninteresting. Let's go read.
