For every chest that is broken, one of the portals is unlocked. When I was with bad jumpers, I'd find the way up and then use the jump-down feature to break the other chests without having to do all of the JQs and then just tell everyone to do the last one on the right.
I've noticed after doing it a few times that it seems the same chests always open the same portals. For example, the 4th JQ's chest always seems to open the 2nd JQ's portal. The opposite also appears to be true. Needs more testing but I think this is how it works.

I'm wondering if it sends you to the instance version in numerical order... To make myself more clear, bad pseudocode!
If (party1 enter) && (instance1 isEmpty) then
send party1 to instance1 else
if (instance2 isEmpty) then
send party1 to instance2 else
...
...
fi
That could explain why your trials always give the same chests for the same portals? Knowing Nexon, it seems they'd take this easy way out instead of randomizing which instance the party gets thrown into. Of course, I haven't tested it either so I'm not denying what you said either.
Would looking at reactors in the data be able to tell us?

i just got my hat, and i didn't have a problem with the mirror stage,
i believe that the mirror piece is only gettable by ONE/four ppl, wich is random
we usually got to last stage with 7~8 minutes left on the counter,
just make EVERY member press up at EVERY mirror
