ShiKage Wrote:But you do it so well.

You don't get the difference between blunt honesty and the intent to hurt. Going and calling somone a racial slur is the latter, telling someone they're an idiot is the former.

Also I'm going to guess nearly everyone you talked about who laughed was not apart of the race you talked about.

No, no. Everyone was laughing and spitting jokes. I remember quite a few potent racial jokes about black people that this black girl was spitting out.

@Mute : Who said anything about calling someone a racial slur? I see none of that in this thread.

Did you outright use racial slurs?

I mean you can look at some of the "edgy" comedians of today who tell black jokes and TBH the worst you hear is something about criminals. They don't try and "pull off" nigger jokes and I doubt you would in public.

You people can't really pull that off, especially to the particular races the slurs apply to.

I think you would be surprised.

So you'd go to ghetto neighborhood and start telling black jokes with the word nigger in it wearing a swastika shirt?

I never said I would do it to people I don't know.

Why does this make me a coward?

I've given a definition of the word I posted in this thread yet you read it otherwise. Is this my fault? No, it's not.

NAACP - Milelke - 2011-03-06

I'm actually African(-American) and found this thread somewhat offensive, but its' the funhouse so I told myself "it's not that serious". In fact, when i saw this thread before, I pretty much just shrugged.

But don't use the word so lightly, not all black people, like me, use it on a daily basis and are hypocrites who don't want non-black people saying it. I've never said that word, and I don't plan on it. Regardless, you shouldn't just throw the word around assuming no ones going to care or be offended.

By the way black people aren't black, we're brown (some are even paler than some Caucasians). I get really annyoed by the over usage of "black", but it's so much easier to say and is shorter than "African-American" so I understand.

@Shikage
Like I said, not all black people throw the word around like it's nobody's business. You can't assume that since everyone in your locale uses the word that way that you can come on the internet and use it the same way- it's much more broad, and you could offend people.

Even so, I live in Maryland, close to DC, and hear the word thrown around all the time,especially since my school is 70% black. In real life, I'm not offended when I hear it, but if someone, especially someone not black (bias) called me it, I would be offended. And when I see it on the internet, I react the same. I don't know why, it might have to do with the setting and context.

Anyway, my view of you Shikage wasn't extremely positive to begin with, and you lost some points in my book for this; not that you would care, of course.

Then if you state the definition and say it in front of strangers there should be no problem and you should be ok telling jokes about it wearing a shirt that has a symbol that has something to do with besides racism.

According to you anyway, since you're not doing anything wrong. Just telling jokes to strangers about ignorant people while wearing a shirt about good luck.

The swastika has nothing to with anything BUT Nazism. If it were a manji, a symbol of peace, then it would be another story.

Whoa! The swastica existed well before Nazi's, It's even used animes like Bleach. Ichigo's sword is a swastika, does that mean he's a nazi or the writer is?

You should be OK wearing one cause there's other usages for that symbols.

That would a Manji (卍Wink. The Swastika faces the opposite direction.

Actually...

The swastika in the decorative Hindu form.

Also I never said how you had to wear it, or what direction it had to be in. You just made an assumption. You could have just had the "Nazi one" and explain it with an error with your shirt.

Manji = Swastika.
Just because you prefer hearing the japanese version does not discredit other cultures from using it and in their past usage of it. Hinduists have a swastika, celts have a swastika as well. But nooooooooooo, because the Nazi's used it, all swastika's are bad and only the Japanese "manji" is okay.

For making a joke thread of ignorance you sure love showing it in yourself.

NAACP - Tay - 2011-03-06

Derogatory slurs, from anyone's mouth be it the person being picked on or the person doing the picking on, should not be part of a person's every day vernacular.
