How do you guys feel about the new defense/survivability system? - Takebacker - 2011-02-22 Can't that be all cured though? And a lot of new high level bosses nowadays have pot cooldown by default anyway. o.o Imo if they cranked up the deadliness of some of the lesser used curses (mostly the ones in GSPQ like you said) then bosses would indeed be much scarier. How do you guys feel about the new defense/survivability system? - Valon - 2011-02-22 I would love to see a boss fight at the top of a short JQ where you only have a minute or so to attack before getting sent back down. Make this competitive, GSPQ style, and fast paced maple hell will ensue How do you guys feel about the new defense/survivability system? - Treggify - 2011-02-22 Going from MP3 to Dual Ghost Pirates was utterly shocking. They hit 3k on me at level 114. I know I'm a DK and I have 14k hp, but those pots are expensive. :/ How do you guys feel about the new defense/survivability system? - Morgana - 2011-02-23 Valon Wrote:Actually, it seems like a fun way to revamp the boss battles would be to add more deadly, dodgeable attacks. Example being constant spells like pianus/snack machines death beam, or MDT style missiles. Make these give status effects such as seduce or stun, make them frequent, and especially give them the ability to dispell. You wouldn't necessarily die alot, but it would require you to move and dodge in order to kill the boss in a decent ammount of time. Or even bosses like Geist rog where they teleport/fly around a JQ so you have to really put some effort into it. Keep players on their toes and make the battle fun. Speaking as someone who loves difficult bosses... Dear god please no more dispel than we already have. CZak arms is enough to survive on a bishop... If I lag at all, bang, dead. It's exciting when you survive, sure, but it's not a good feeling to die just because you lagged for less than half a second... To see your char do the MG animation and still die without MG. Then to try to wheel with 0 HP/no MG and hope CZak doesn't cast seduce before you're ready or half your party will die. As another example, at times, Black Wyverns at HT have left me essentially spamming MG until someone helped me by killing them. I'll die mid-attack if I try to fight them, since my attacks are so slow. And my Pally has to recast 6 buffs and she doesn't even have Stance yet. Talk about frustrating. I'm not saying we shouldn't have dispel... I'm fine with Pap and HT's dispels and find them to make the battle more interesting. But dispel spam when it doesn't give you invinciframes and can't be avoided by tanking a hit... Well... It's just too penalizing on classes that rely on dispellable buffs to survive. Which is, after BB, pretty much the mages. I am, however, all for avoidable attacks. I like the avoidable 1/1s at HT... Gives an incentive to pay more attention, and be rewarded by saving pots and being able to keep my heal continuous. Mages get their survivability suddenly divided by 5. How do you guys feel about the new defense/survivability system? - ShanghaiDizzy - 2011-02-23 In my opinion, the idea of challenge from hard bosses has been removed ever since the installation of wheels. Sure, you need NX, but who doesn't have NX nowadays when you boss? Also, mass spamming dispel from bosses is stupid. It doesn't add challenge. It adds a nuisance. Especially for mage classes. It also makes me wish bosses like Chaos Zakum would drop 200 Summoning Rocks per NL/Shadower as compensation for all the rocks wasted from summoning Shadow Partner. I agree. Remove wheels and bosses become more challenging. How do you guys feel about the new defense/survivability system? - Valon - 2011-02-28 I was referring more to an avoidable dispell, something that ultimately affected the kill time of the boss even more than damage cause its annoying as pomegranate to have to re-buff, you would reaaaally want to avoid that attack ;D other avoidables are solved by a pot. |
