It was a wretched name. I like this name more. i got it from a character from a book by Voltaire. I added the 'n' though.

What happened to Schrodinger? That guy was the bomb. Swerve is such a poser. He can never amount to a fraction of what Schrodinger was.

"O, be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

A name is just an identifier used to give a voice and tag to an object or thing. A man may be any name he chooses to be, but he will always be the same man. A leopard cannot change its spots, nor can anyone absolve and remove one's self from the actions of their past.

If a name is an identifier, then what happens to the name if it has no subject for identification? If a name is truly a metaphysical identifier, then is a name still the same as long as the person doesn't change?

Swerve Wrote:If a name is an identifier, then what happens to the name if it has no subject for identification?

a name is just that, a name. its an idea, nothing physical. much like the arbitrary system of time people use to organize the movement of the sun across the sky, much like the calendar does the same for the passing of days, names are just an idea. we are who we are, what we choose to be called is irrelevant. the name exists so long as people are there to remember it, even if it is just a name. I have never met anyone named Bartholomew, but the name exists and continues to because i can remember it. much the same as with a library, it contains written knowledge and ideas from other people. If, say, an incident akin to the destruction of the library at alexandria during the mongol raids in the middle east were to occur, then all that information will be lost.

basically, if a name has nothing to define and no one bothers to use it to define something, then the idea fades from existance with a sigh.

If names are just ideas to be forgotten, then what are humans?

I miss eos367, imj0n, TøbiasBlack, CeddyBear, SpeedBump and Opeth. - Mute - 2010-09-25

Humans are a primate that is capable of reaching into space and planting its feet on alien soil.

Is space still considered space if people manage to reach it? If soil is alien, then how do you know it is soil?

<Speaking of curiosity, you're curious about what happens after you die, right? Guess what? I know! You're going to find out first-hand before I can finish telling you, though, so I won't bother. I'll give you a hint: you're going to want to pack as much living as you possibly can into the next couple of minutes.>

Space is space, as so far we've never gone further than the moon without having satellites do the exploring for us, and even then they've only gone so far.
soil i use as an encompassing term for rock, sand, silt, dirt, or any other geological landscape.
