Apple iPad - Horusmaster - 2010-01-29

xLeviathan Wrote:@ Horusmaster: What a nice generalization. I could afford a nice computer (financing isn't hard), but it's not something I'd even use all that often so it's more cost-efficient for me to use my phone and what I have now since they can both do what I what and need to do anyway.

definition of inferior good is goods that are cheaper or more "cost-efficient" because you don't waste more money to get features that you rarely use...

Well I wouldn't say that's necessarily a bad thing. No sense in paying for something you rarely use (well, it's so bogged with opinion but to me).

Good job in rebutting my post with a point that someone else made. Want to know what else a book doesn't have? Mother f'ucking internet access so you can either get more books or browse the perry while you read.

You want to tell me a situation where a full charge will not last by the time you can get to a spot to charge up again? I sure can't think of one. Between the USB charger and the electric attachment, you'll never run out of charge.

Cross Atlantic/Pacific Airline flight? Road trip? Lost in the Jungle? Black Out?
I have 5. ;D

First one is wrong. Almost all planes have outlets now. I have a converter for my car for trips as well. The last two...lol.

Going to include long train rides into this: Most long trips that aren't in a car provide electric outlets now. Both trains and planes. If there are no electrical outlets, chances are you have a laptop with you. Laptops usually have a USB port.

Hazzy Wrote:Road trip? Lost in the Jungle? Black Out?

There's an accessory that uses that circle inlet thingy to make a USB port. Most people have this accessory, especially those who commute and already have an iphone. Who the hell gets lost in the jungle in america? Black outs are rare and even more rare is when they last longer than 10 hours.

Apple iPad - Hazzy - 2010-01-29

Free outlets? I'll believe it when I see it. Pay2use? I'd buy that. (No pun intended)

You said situation, not situation centered in the US.

I thought Ipad charge through USB port...

Apple iPad - Takebacker - 2010-01-29

The only way you could charge for outlet use is if you make outlets only available in different classes of seats, and chances are if you have enough money for an ipad you won't really give a f'uck about the $20-40 more it is for outlet use on an extremely long flight/train ride.

@ above: This thing plugs into an outlet (Here is the other side), and comes standard with every iPhone/iPad produced.

Apple iPad - Hazzy - 2010-01-29

"Pay 10 dollars and we'll turn your outlet on."
What's this about different seats?

Apple iPad - Takebacker - 2010-01-29

Hazzy Wrote:"Pay 10 dollars and we'll turn your outlet on."

It doesn't work that way. O_o

Hazzy Wrote:What's this about different seats?

You've never heard of first class seating?

It doesn't multitask. lol

Apple iPad - xLeviathan - 2010-01-29

I've never seen a Pay2Use outlet on a plane or train.

Can you browse the perry with a normal book? No. Therefore, you're able to do 2 things on the iPad. Therefore, it multitasks.

Just because you can't do it at the same time doesn't mean you aren't doing something at the same time.

Stop reading so much into it... It's just a random potentially humorous image I threw together in MS paint with pictures I got off google images.

An image that doesn't really serve the product justice, and didn't really change the point you were trying to rebut at all.

Horusmaster Wrote:Later I send her an email telling her iPad is an inferior good because it's for those people that can't afford laptops.

Laptops are cheaper than iPads...my friend got a netbook for 350 recently, for example.

xLeviathan Wrote:Why is keyboard a criteria? The iPad has a fine keyboard. In fact, I like virtual keyboards more than regular keyboards. I can type faster on my iPhone than any other phone I've used.

We're comparing laptop keyboards to the iPad's touchscreen keyboard, not that of a tiny phone keyboard. I could type around 100 WPM on a regular keyboard. I somehow doubt that's possible with a touchscreen. It's not really possible to type as fast with a touchscreen since you don't have any actual response to let you know where your fingers are at.

lol the iPad jokes are endless, but I'm sure they'll make a fortune off of it anyways.

1. Yes. Get a paper book. Go to your desktop computer/laptop, read and browse OMG!
2.The iPad in itself does not multitask, stop trying to defend crap.

When it gets down to it, Real Book>eReader

Anyway, IPad isn't worth it, becuase you can get everything it has (besides apple apps) in a cheaper netbook or even laptop, maybe desktop computer.

iPad is not super portable, and it's so thin I'd be afraid to take it anywhere without the huge screen cracking.

Lets List:
Pros:
Big Screen
Shiny
Relatively long battery life (Yes guys, it does) (10 hours or something like that, but, knowing apple, thats at minimal usage)

Cons:
No Multitasking
No Flash (Even with a more than capable memory)
AT&T for 3g, +$130, +$30 Monthly
499$ is a POS
Giant iPod Touch
No USB or FireWire
NO FLASH!!! WTH? Why is there no flash?
