This reminds me of something in middle school. During lunch, id usually go out and play basketball, and Id have to give my school ID to get the ball out. One day, after getting the ball out, i was sitting there, just shooting the ball by myself, when this group of black kids come up to me tellin me to give them the ball and to leave (this is in a small desert town where the school was basically split 75% black 15% white 10% other. Aka, outnumbered). I told them no and then one of them wanted to fight me, who was one of the kids id have lots of trouble with at this school. So he got up in my face, and im sitting there staring at him, and I say "ya know what, im not fighting you, your crosseyed, it wouldnt even be a fair fight" and started walking away. 2 seconds later, im hit 3 times on the side of the face (rather weak considering he was the one starting the fight). So, i slowly turn around, and before i could say or do anything, the PE teacher (on yard duty at the time) tackles the kid.
The whole ~2 years I spent at that middle school sucked. One other incident worth noting was when another kid (this time a white guy) threatened to stab me with a butter knife in ceramics class, and the teacher and principle didnt do anything about it. This along with the whole overall area we were in was why instead of going to highschool out there, I went and took college classes for both highschool and college credits after middle school.

^I've been known to be really.. hyperactive, sorta insane, and rather violent during High School. It was 25% black people, 50% white, everyone else = remaining 25. I never technically got picked on too much during my last 2 years, no one wanted to f'ck around with me because I didn't bother them. I minded my own business. Of course, I got the usual "you chink" insults. I would always respond with a "If you're going to insult me, insult me right. I'm not Chinese, cracker." <- replace that with the 'n' word for African Americans. And of course, they would always raise their eyebrows and say "huh..?", and I'd walk away, shrugging.
If you act like you don't care, most times, they won't bother. If you're too violent about it, they'll do it more. Best to know how to control yourself. If you're known to be a bit insane like I was, like the time I hi-jump kicked that one buffed Latino kid in my gymnasium.. usually, people won't want to mess with you, because ..well, they know you're nuts. And you might jump off walls and fly or something, so they won't bother.
Of course, I got into fights, but all of my fights were Middle-School. I technically never got into any fights during High School. I dressed too goth during my first two years during High School, and too preppy my last 2 years or so...
