Longbows generally were more for distance. Like in the movie 300 with the scene of raining arrows. That would've been something a longbow would be used for. Shortbows were more so for short accurate shots.
However, in a game like Maplestory, there'd be no difference between the two unless you make Longbowmen have crazy AOE attacks .

Why?
Most RPGs that make you CHOOSE group them together.
I actually kinda like the 2 elements or Cleric idea.
Alot of RPGs are - Black mage- White Mage- Red Mage- some times a Green or Blue mage.

Obviously all mages are kinda Green (buffs) for Ms
A blue mage would be TOO powerful probably (HT move NOW@@)
though a TRUE Red mage- that would be nice- Nexon obviously considered it - Fusion Mace. But discontinued it.
