And it was announced that the reveal was going to be a new pokemon, not a new forme.
To me it seems almost certain this is a brand new pokemon. So I don't think people should be alarmed at them changing a classic pokemon.
I've wanted a MewThree since gen 1, pretty much only because the genetics of Mew and Mewtwo made further improvements possible. The existence of a Mewthree could be easily explained through Genetics. Even though Mewtwo was powerful it wasn't the perfect being they expected, so it makes sense they would make a more "perfect" version, hence why it looks more like Mew.

Sure, if you pick and choose words, you can read it however you want.

As well as the homepage: "Could it be connected to the legendary mewtwo?"
As if you needed the answer to that.
All of which say : "This is a new mewtwo forme" to me.
At the very least, obviously you need a mewtwo to get it. We'll see when the movie comes out.
But it's not uncommon for legendaries to get new forms between games (Tornadus/Thundurus/Landorus, Giratina, Deoxys), none that I can think of have had a new pokedex entry. I don't see it changing.

Also, I think there's still a possibility that this is a new forme of Mewtwo rather than a new Pokemon. They've treated formes as separate Pokemon before. Such as

I think it's a new Forme because the movie's name has Mewtwo in it and the movie's poster was where it made its debut. In the trailer, it says something along the lines of "This isn't the Mewtwo we knew."

Those legs make me feel like someone made this pokemon while playing Spore. Still think it looks pretty baus, especially in Colress's first picture, and not only because it was drawn a little on the blue side. Hopefully it'll be cool like mew and have a blueish shiny form.
