Lozmaster Wrote:It's not as good as colours/generations and there are definitely some very cheap deaths. But normally that would mean it is, at the very least a solid 7/10 just because everything works like it's supposed to. I'm not sure why the reviews are so harsh.

It's a sonic game, people are gonna hate it. Go to any site, all I hear is,

"Oh this game is like Mario Galaxy! Ripoff!"
"The Deadly Six look like Pokemon rejects!"
"Bring back the old Sonic! Go back to his roots!"
"New Sonic's VA sucks!"
"Sonic games are supposed to be about speed! Quit adding different stuff to the games!"
"Where is Sonic Adventure 3!?"

And that's just the gist of it.

The obsessive sonic fans aren't helping the situation, that's for sure.

Especially the ones who haven't even played the game yet.

Quote:"Oh this game is like Mario Galaxy! Ripoff!"

I wish. The level that seems most "mario galaxyish" (desert world act 2) is my favourite act so far by a significant amount.

I mean I did read people were dubbing Lost World as "Super Sonic Galaxy 3".

Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - byakugan - 2013-10-24

When there's no more sonic people will be like "OMG fawk you Sega I hope you go bankrupt for killing your mascot"

Nintendo Planning HD Remakes Of Seven N64 Titles On Wii U As “ReUmagined” Series?
Rumor: Nintendo ReUmagined Super Mario 64 and Other Titles for Wii U

Pretty interesting thing.

Apparently this is the "Starred out List"

Of course. Have a lot of space for new games? Just remake a bunch of old ones.

Gimme Majora's Mask HD and we'll be good.

Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Dark Link - 2013-10-24

Nintendo’s reUmagined series for Wii U is not limited to just Nintendo 64 titles.

So apparently the HD remakes aren't just limited to N64. Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy are possible candidates as well.

Those two right there confuse the crap out of me. Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle) only put like 1/4 "speed" stages, but almost everybody loved it and yet now they bash every damn Sonic game for being slow and adding different mechanics? What.

Lost World looks graphically pleasing though the camera seems a little wonky.

And wow, I'm way out of the loop on the franchise, when did the cast get a whole slew of new voice actors/actresses?

They got a new cast ever since Colors.

The funny thing is Sonic games have NEVER been about this "continuous speed" some people want to believe it was. The classic games were filled with pomegranate to stop you in your tracks; enemies send you flying backward; you have bumper levels like Casino Zone -- I mean come on. Sonic has always been a "running-platformer", where you only ever got BURSTS of speed, not just hold a direction2win. The puzzles, platforms, enemies, obstacles, etc have always been around to get in your way and totally kill your speed.

The point of Sonic games isn't to "go fast", it's to go as fast as YOU can; i.e. become a speedrunner and react to everything as quickly as YOU can to get through the level quickly. Apparently some people think the old games were designed as a straight run to the exit in every single level of every game like they were some Bit Trip Runner pomegranate.

Wii U Discussion: Super Mario 3D World out in all the places (that matter!) - Lozmaster - 2013-10-26

I think the point of, at the very least, recent sonic games is in a sense is to "go fast". The problem is, people seem to have forgotten being able to go fast was never an easy thing to do (without dying).

I do think that Sonics top speed could do with being a bit faster in Lost World though.

Also, world 3-3 is bullshit.

Holy pomegranate, world 4 in Sonic Lost world is fucking terrible.

Terrible as in "Oh god the difficulty is too much" or terrible as in "Why did I buy this game, this is a total let down

@Arrol

Dam he got a lot darker than what I;m used to from my childhood. I remember him stealing little baby animals from the forest and stealing jewels from random areas.

He had to step up his game since they're giving him some fierce competition. He feels threatened.

Tigeon Wrote:Terrible as in "Oh god the difficulty is too much" or terrible as in "Why did I buy this game, this is a total let down

The first two levels of world 4 are difficult and bullpomegranate for all the wrong reasons. (So probably "Why did I buy this game, this is a total let down"). I won't write it off just yet, as the last few worlds might be better, but I hear bad things about Silent forest too, so I'm not hopeful anymore.

4-1, you have to follow a specific route otherwise you get stuck looping around infinitely. This wouldn't be so bad but it's full of long sections where you can't interact with sonic at all. Some of them are 15+seconds long, and there are multiple repeats of them very close together. I watched my recording and at one point you literally have 10 seconds of control of sonic for a compulsory 50 second long section to get through the level. There is another 30 second long section of this that you will probably have to do more than once because you have to do a ridiculous bit of parkour that requires you jumping around a corner and then back on to the wall from the side you just came from. (I think you may be able to do it with a laser wisp as there is a laser wisp crystal right there, but I hit it multiple times and it ended up in forcing me back to an earlier section multiple times).

Whoever thought those non interactive sections was a good idea shouldn't be allowed to be involved in sonic game developement ever again.

And not only that, it's the first ice world, so sonic now controls like pomegranate, with any semblance of control of your jumps removed when you try jumping while on ice (Rather than a normal spin jump, he twirls like he thinks he's a ballerina, which seems to prevent you from using your double jump or homing attacks).

4-2 sticks sonic inside a giant snowball, kinda like super monkey ball but you have two options: Too slow, but some semblance of control(at some points, this actually gets you killed because you can't jump far enough to get across a gap), or too fast and if you're going in even the slightly wrong direction, that's it, instant death, because you can't stop or steer in any significant way.
Oh, also if you even touch an enemy you're probably dead.
I haven't actually cleared this stage yet because I was fed up with the game after trying to do 4-1 and 4-2 in a row.

I just cannot fathom what they were thinking. They've lost any goodwill they had from me now from the good, not great, first 3 worlds anyway.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love difficult platformers, Super Meat Boy is my second most played game on steam, and the perfect run on Mario Galaxy 2 was amazing, but the difference between those two and this is they played perfectly. Lost world feels like the game is pineappleing me over for no fault of my own.

I now really hope the 3rd game in the Nintendo exclusive trilogy of sonic games is going to be Sonic Generations 2 or Colours 2 rather than like lost world.

So, Wii fit U is out. I'm downloading it and already looking for a Wii fit meter. It's nice to get a free (well, 30$ cheaper) Wii fit game after the price cut that gave us nothing.

hmm as much as i want to, im not enjoying Lost World. It all seems really clunky control wise, and the levels just seem like run foward to progress/explore the sides if you can be assed..

tbh if they made all the other sonic games run as fast as he does in this though id be happy.

That would be because it's a crap game.

In case it wasn't obvious from my previous posts, I retract anything nice I ever said about. Haven't had so little fun in a sonic game in a long time. At least unleashed had the decent sonic levels, this had maybe world 1.

I don't see why you'd want sonic to be slow in 3d levels though. The high speed levels tend to cover up the fact that sonic actually controls like pomegranate. When he was going as slow as he was in Lost world, it's just a bad generic 3d platformer.

And sega has made it abundantly clear since...1998? that they don't know how to make a good generic 3d platformer.

idk in the other games i feel like he moves too fast for me to do precision platforming..
Nearly said he should have an endless runner game but then i realise i have Sonic Dash on my phone lol :3
