This is an interesting glitch. Basically if you press the previous button during one of these dialogue quests it'll show the NPC that was there before you pressed previous.

Apparently this Cannoneer, that was my opponent in Gauntlet, was a teleport hacker and I guess he was a little bitter that I actually beat him when he had his "pr0hax0rz" on.
As soon as I hit my Finish totem, he comes from nowhere (the last I saw, he fell off and stayed still at the starting platform) and hits his own totem, but not in time.
