Guild Wars 2 - Scaeva - 2012-11-14 I also have one key left I think, if the system didn't run out of them yet. Guild Wars 2 - FoolsLove - 2012-11-14 Now to decide what job I should try and play. If you can, try to get 11 on several so that you unlock the Trait List and can see what types of buffs you can expect at higher levels on said class. Some of the traits are rather crummy, in my opinion, and have turned me away from a class. Mesmer is definitely one in my book. I'm not really fond of their traits, especially the 30 point ones. Maybe it's just me though. Still, the point is that you might want to try as many as possible, provided they give you the normal amount of character slots. Guild Wars 2 - Corn - 2012-11-14 Or, you could look at the traits on the wiki .I'd just unlock the 5 skills on each weapon set I'm interested in. Guild Wars 2 - DrRusty - 2012-11-14 Polantaris Wrote:The only complaint I have about the combat system is that some of the movesets don't seem to flow properly, especially with the main repeatable attack. What I mean is that there's too much of a delay, or the animation doesn't seem right. I just don't use those weapons, and I don't see how it's a "The game isn't responsive," situation. I have no idea what you're talking about but alright I guess. In the first paragraph you said "there's too much of a delay" and then said you don't see how the game isn't responsive. For me, delay = lack of responsiveness = sluggish. The movement AND the attacks feel like they're "behind" whatever I'm thinking. Not every skill is like that though. The #3 engineer pistol and #4 engineer shield moves are activated instantly. Things like your heal, shouldn't have that delay. I've died so many times due to being CC'd during my heal's cast time. Guild Wars 2 - Raph589 - 2012-11-14 I don't remember, did they give us a password when we registered? Because I unchecked the "remember password" box and none of the passwords I could have put there works. And I lost my activation code so I can't change my password. Guild Wars 2 - MuscleWizard - 2012-11-14 Playing a warrior. Pretty fun, so far. Guild Wars 2 - Polantaris - 2012-11-14 DrRusty Wrote:I have no idea what you're talking about but alright I guess. In the first paragraph you said "there's too much of a delay" and then said you don't see how the game isn't responsive. For me, delay = lack of responsiveness = sluggish. By delay I'm talking about the cast time. For example, Fire Magic Scepter's first attack has like a second cast time, but your character finishes the majority of their animation in like half a second...and the rest is just an arm raised with flames coming out of your arm. It throws off the flow of the moveset because it doesn't even feel like you're doing anything for those half seconds when your character is basically doing nothing. That's the cast time of the spell's fault, not some delay that I still don't see even after watching your video, and even after using my own Engineer and trying it. Are you complaining about cast times? Some abilities are instant, yes, but most have a half second or more of cast time. The game tells you the cast time of every ability in its tooltip. That Engineer shot is a half second cast time. Combined with the travel time of the shot, it takes a little under a second to hit from when you first hit the button. Most abilities should not be instant. Healing should not be instant either. In PvP you should be able to stop your enemy from healing if you're good and quick enough. MuscleWizard Wrote:Playing a warrior. I love my Warrior. What are you running with? Guild Wars 2 - DrRusty - 2012-11-14 A huge chunk of the cast times are completely unnecessary, and they only add to the already long delays between the keypress and the action. That's not the only thing though. There's lag between when you press the key, and the cast bar even begins to go off. More than I'm used to. Also, the left to right strafe is very slow, and swiftness does not make you strafe faster. Guild Wars 2 - MuscleWizard - 2012-11-14 Greatsword and rifle. Working out pretty good so far. I've got the signet healer, in my heal slot. I figure that the passive in combat health regen is going to be useful if i'm 1v1ing. Gives me some health gain without having to stop attacking. I tried it on my own several times, and the second I press the number key the cast bar appears. DrRusty Wrote:Also, the left to right strafe is very slow, and swiftness does not make you strafe faster. This I agree with completely. Since strafing counts as an action I believe it gets put with Quickness for the boost instead of Swiftness. The problem is if you're using Quickness for dodging, you've completely wasted Quickness because it rarely lasts more than 4-5 seconds. I agree that Swiftness should include dodging. Maybe it used to be that way and people complained that it threw off their timing? But, dodging isn't effected by Cripple or Chill either, which makes no sense. MuscleWizard Wrote:Greatsword and rifle. Working out pretty good so far. Healing Signet is pretty insanely broken. The only issue with it is that if you actually need a quick heal you're screwed, because using it is extremely detrimental to your healing. It only heals like 1,000 at level 80, which is worthless. Look into getting the 15 point Toughness trait that gives regeneration based on your Adrenaline level too. Those combined make for some pretty bullshit Regen (For everyone else, not you). I personally only use Rifle or Longbow if I NEED long range. Otherwise I stick with two melee weapons in my bar. Long Range on Warrior is really pretty crappy. It's mostly there, I think, just to give you long range possibilities. My DPS gets cut in more than half when I go from Greatsword, Dual Axes, or Hammer to Rifle. I switch up Dual Axes and Hammer myself, so usually I'm Greatsword and either Hammer or Dual Axes. What level are you? Guild Wars 2 - MuscleWizard - 2012-11-14 eight, on dragonbrand, just startin out. :B Guild Wars 2 - raizoo - 2012-11-14 https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/leah-rivera-on-the-new-fractals-of-the-mist-dungeon/ I'm excites, okay. ;-; Guild Wars 2 - DrRusty - 2012-11-15 2 hour dungeon run . That's the last time I do exp mode with 2 lvl 60's.
Guild Wars 2 - Polantaris - 2012-11-15 Quote:Some of these vignettes from history may be familiar to original Guild Wars players, while others will represent previously unseen events Now THIS is awesome. I wonder if they intend to tell some of the story between GW1 and 2 with this. I would love that, there's a lot of cool things they mention slightly, like Gwen forming Ebonhawke, that I would love to learn about without reading the 20 some-odd books they littered throughout that rather large city or a wiki page. So they added the new map to the World Map today (or yesterday). I don't think it connects to any area in particular, unless it's much larger than originally thought. It's basically under the point where Caledon would link to the Tengu area, but the 80 on the map is too left off center for the map to be connected to Sparkfly. Guild Wars 2 - MasPan - 2012-11-25 MenosPan, currently a lv 15 Sylvari Necromancer in Crystal Desert NA. Primarily using a staff - if anyone played DFO with me, you'd know that I like placing circles on the ground. And staff necros do a lot of that. I chose Well of Suffering and Blood Well as my healing and supporting skill as well to have 2 more circles. The other utility skill right now is Signet of Spite for the raw power boost and the ability to wreck a boss/miniboss with about 6 conditions at once. Been leveling the Spite trait as well for a bit better healing and more condition damage. Guild Wars 2 - Raph589 - 2012-11-25 I'm a minion master necro and find that dagger+horn kill ennemies much much faster than staff. Still use staff as my secondary weapon for AoE damage when there are tons of mobs. Haven't tried other necro skills than minions. Are they fun? I'm able to burst pretty quickly by laying down my marks and then luring an enemy into it while spamming 1. Well of Suffering does tremendous amounts of AOE damage and is probably my highest overall source of damage when it's active. Problem is it has to be cast centered on you - meaning you have to get close to use it well. Blood Well is amazing for healing - I suggest looking into it to heal your minions as well as yourself, except that would leave you without Blood Fiend.
