Leaving the map has nothing to do with decreasing the difficulty rating. How it works is, the first person in the party to enter Gollux's head, essentially summoning him, gets difficulty 4. Everybody else to enter the head after that person gets difficulty 5.
Furthermore, it seems that if that first person leaves and re-enters again, unless everyone in the map also leaves and that person re-enters first again, that person also gets pushed up to difficulty 5.
This provides some confusion because I'm not exactly sure if difficulty 5 even has a correct drop list, or if it's just the game going crazy. All I know is the only times I know of a Superior item dropping, the person who clicked was on difficulty 4.

These guys aren't as rare as I thought it was, just a bit of mobbing and you might have these big guys spawn.

Apparently, these guys have no minimum level range. Stay away from him if you don't have a heal skill.

Had to throw everything I have at it - two Sacrifice buffs in a row (poor Beholder got summoned and then eaten, 3/4 of the way through the fight) plus Dark Thirst stacked onto it. for some reason when I spam Gungnir I get "You may not use the skill yet." about every 3rd one, so my chat... yeah.
First time round my Beholder was on cooldown so I had to Dark Impale for a bit... which was fairly inadequate.
Dropped a Sealed Cubic Blade.

Yep, I managed to kill Red Grosso on my Hayato.

Only had to put all my equips onto it and link every damage-buffing link skill to get it done with about 10 seconds to spare. It's a little frustrating how weak Hayato is on bosses. Like, this is with 60% boss, 67% ignore def, and a 117k clean range (higher than my Dark Knight's which is 95k despite Spears having the better multiplier)
Would be kinda annoying to have to swap all my gear and link skills back and forth Hayato to Dark Knight every day just for that one octopus. So I think instead I'm gonna do 4x Herb Town on my Hayato (best exp option - about 52mil a day without killing Livyatan, which is far outside the range of possibility even with all my best equips) and leave the boss killing to my Dark Knight, who can kill Livyatan and both Grosso.
Lowering the droprate seems kinda academic; today my Dark Knight and Hayato with seven runs between them (4 Herb Town on the DrK, 3 Rien on the Hayato) - none of 7 green Grosso, 4 cyan Livyatin, or 1 Red Grosso dropped a single equip.

Soloed Chaos Crimson Queen! Died 3 times, got a warrior RA helm. It's quite a messy screenshot because I was about to die while on final pact, so I had to hurry for the drops. :x

Soloed Hard Magnus again, faster than last time, no buff freezers needed. I was on ~6x drop, still no tyrants. Got 6 novas and lots of elite belts which probably aren't even worth scissoring anymore.

Majority of damage dealt during one lucky 20 seconds when he decided to use the 1hko-fireballs followed by poison, and I managed to take advantage of Sacrifice+Gungnir.
Is it just me or is the queen the only one dropping cubes? I got 2 today, 1 yesterday, nothing from the other 3.

Finally soloed Chaos Pierre after several tries! I didn't get any pants though, but I'm still happy that I'm able to solo the RA bosses now. (all except Vellum)

Good luck! And yes, I have to agree it's quite tricky to rebuff on Magnus fights, but it's still manageable once you get used to it.

Only died once, which is a damn miracle... the death counter hit 5 at the same time as he did a screen-crack, so I only died once from that. The big chin himself managed to kill me once due to overwhelming lack of ability to pot (yeah yeah shouldn't have a familiar out, I forgot) but Final Pact fixed it.

Dropped a 130 pendant with better stats than my Mark of Naricain... dohoho.
The head took me 12 minutes overall so I think I'm not gonna be able to do Hard mode. Would have liked to collect the 140 set for myself but might go with 130 instead.
Used Dark Impale for most of the chin so I could kill Golems too, Gungnir's probably capable of a bit under twice the damage but was too lazy to switch between the two while jumping back and forth etc. Also when I tried, I got 2 death counters on my head because I was bad at hitting golems in time.
Mostly it's just nice to know I can get 19 coins a day instead of 11...
For the record I'm really bad at this "gaining exp" thing... I've lost ~16% by dying twice today, completely cancelling out all progress.
