What do I expect them to do? At least have some plans for a game. Not just say they have no ideas what to do with their own franchise. The studio that made GX may be gone but I'm quite sure it's possible for someone else to take on the challenge. According to that article they don't want to rely on Third Parties anymore and that's fine I'm sure Nintendo could make a great F-Zero game. They just don't want to. I get that it is not a system seller or anywhere near as popular is Mario/Zelda etc but there is a market for it.

Waste time? They have racers, what, one? Mario Kart. So once that's released next year that's it is it? No more racing games needed for the Wii U see you next gen? F-Zero and Mario Kart may both be racing games but they are quite different. I didn't say they should drop everything now and make it right away but I don't believe at no point in the future do they have no time to make one.
What they are releasing now is hardly innovative. An HD NSMB and now 3D World, that's totally nothing like the 3D Land. I mean the pipes are transparent this time! The four player co-op is just the same as NSMB too. I like Mario sure but I don't just want a Wii U Full of Mario games and nothing else. I agree that platformers are covered and we have Donkey Kong on top of that to boot, plus Yoshi's Yarn etc. So to me it's a better time than ever to get to work on a new Metroid/F-Zero/Starfox etc. Hell I'll even take Wave Race or 1080 at this point.
Smash Bros is also a good tool for getting Characters and franchises popular again so hopefully they will use that effectively with the upcoming games.
In the end it doesn't really matter anyway. With the Anti-Grav mechanics in Mario Kart that's the final nail in the coffin for F-Zero.

The difference between mario and f-zero is mario galaxy was selling near 10million units per game. And that was the weaker mario title on the system. F-zero hasn't ever broken 2 million, and every successive game sold less than the one before.

Ok, here you go, a list of all of nintendos developers or third parties that they have a working relation with (and what they're working on , courtesy of neogaf). Tell me which one you think should do F-zero then, despite the only ones with any racer experience being the mario kart team (Obviously busy) and HAL labs, who are busy working on smash bros.
Because, I'm sure Nintendo can afford to pull people away from MK or Smash bros to work on F-zero

Need for Speed, which is lauded as the best version (barring maybe pc) didn't happen.
Sonic all stars racing didn't happen.
Fast and Furious didn't happen.
That F1 game didn't happen.
Several other games with psuedo racing sections, including lego city, also didn't happen.
Oh, and I just found out, the only other major futuristic racer I can think of, Wipeout has been absolutely tanking over on sonys consoles too. The genre is pretty much dead in the water. (A lot like the Wii U at the moment)

Don't get me wrong, I think Nintendo seriously pineappleed up by having like 5 platformers in development, as well as at least 2 major 3rd parties working on platformers (Rayman/Sonic), especially when Sonic looks better than all of them combined.
At least we have X coming, but Nintendo should have diversified more with the franchises that'll sell some Wii Us before they move onto the more niche stuff like F-Zero, Punchout or pilotwings. As it is, they clearly don't have the time, money or development staff to even do the mario series justice with 3 clearly rushed entries out by the end of this year, they certainly haven't got time for the B list franchises until they can convince 3rd parties the wii u isn't a paperweight.

That depends. What are we talking? An eShop game for less than £10 , I'd be interested in. It'd still be better on the 3DS. Not a chance in hell as a retail release.
The only game I think I could really get behind which would be using the gamepad as a camera is a new Fatal Frame game. Or a remake of game 1 or 3, that'd work too. Doubt they'd do 2 or 4 given they're already Wii games.
I could probably get behind an other pokemon XD type game, and genius sonority haven't done anything since denpa men 2 happened, so who knows, it could be in the works. Or it could be another crap battle revolution game, in which case I will continue to ignore it.

Nintendo over saw/ made the GBA f-zero games? God those were god awful. Who the hell thought having every dam turn 90° was a good idea. I have very limited experience with the GBA ones (though I can play more if im wrong about what im saying) but GX played faster. As as far as im consurned with F-zero, if you dont get that feeling that your going too dam fast to really tell where to turn next, its not F-zero. I didnt get that feeling with the GBA ones. Dam those pineappleing 90° turns for every dam turn.

Well Nothing really sells as well as Mario but I don't think that should mean they never make those games again. Starfox sales have dipped too probably why we haven't seen a proper game in a while. I wouldn't want Nintendo to never make one of them again either. Soon all we will be left with is Mario and Zelda.

Well it didn't help Starfox they have tried lots of different things for that but it didn't work out that well.
As for the other games they are working on, well if they just cut out the crap like Wii Party U they could have time to work on proper games from their other franchises. I mean when they said Wii Party U was going to be delayed did anyone actually gave a pineapple? I had forgotten the game even existed.

Well when said one I was referring to Nintendo only since they have a few racing franchises. Though what you have listed there isn't exactly that impressive a list. Granted of course the console isn't that far along. But the only notable game there is All Stars and thats just Mario Kart really. They called the NFS game the best version yeah but the sales were pomegranate. Ports of 'current' gen games dont really excite anyone.
At the end of the day If they could make a game like Donkey Kong Barrel Blast for the Wii they could make an F-Zero. That's all I'm saying. Excite truck sold less than GX but that still got a pointless sequal. I can see why they wouldn't make an F-Zero for the Wii or DS, I don't think the hardware would have added anything to the experience or made a particularly great game. However I think now would be a good time on the Wii U since it has the power to do the game justice and the online capabilities.

Well Sony Liverpool/Psygnosis closed yeah but you could say a lot of genres of gaming are fading out as the generic FPS marches ever onward. I would say that's more of a problem with the gaming industry as a whole as they expect all games to sell multi millions, or they are demmed complete failures.

Yeah but I think they are playing it way too safe for the Wii U. Just throwing out Mario games and saying hey DK Country Returns did will, lets port it to 3DS and make another for Wii U. But when you rely on the same franchises repetition is hard to avoid. I don't think it would be as much an issue with some of Nintendo's other franchises as they haven't had that many releases in the past. Take Kid Icarus. Most people will have never played it before 3DS so to them it is something brand new.
Ideally what i would want is some more new franchises from Nintendo. But they have sort of trapped themselves in their own Prison. Where you have of people saying where is the next Mario/Zelda and they other half saying oh not another Mario/Zelda game. You'll never please everyone and at the end of the Day Mario sells so i can see why they are doing it but i think they really should take some risks on Wii U and try some different games.

It can't be that bad? But honestly Idk what nintendo is doing. I think it started with how the wii was just drying up so they had to release the wii U eariler than planned. SO they didnt have any games for it but also at the same time they didnt want to promote a nintendo console with out having nintendo games on it. And nintendo games that were announce kept getting delayed... Then will all this legal bunessis with youtube and EVO recently. People (myself included) aren't like what nintendo is shaping up to be. But I think Things might start looking up in the Fall as long as they dont do anything stupid again like with EVO.

Still, I think this boxart says something about it (hence why the purple/white pikmin are separated into that little warning box saying something like "they're challenge mode only!"), but you'd need to grab someone who can actually read japanese to check that.

I think its because it would be quite difficult to manage 7 different types, with different reproducing rates. I myself would prefer if they all had the same reproducing rates so I didn't have to always separate my party just to take down some boss. One of my dislikes of Pikmin 2

I didn't know if anyone else was even buying it.
It's more pikmin is about all I can say about it. You don't really do anything that different from the previous games. Caves from pikmin 2 are out, but the areas are much bigger (and they look amazing).

For instance.
I guess, at least, pikmin 3 has that when I say "well, it's more pikmin!" I mean that as a good thing (unlike you super mario 3d world) because it's what I expected out of it, and am happy playing it. It's a good game, and I recommend playing it, but the game isn't going to be the kind of thing that helps the U out of it's dreadful current situation.
edit: I don't like the game pad controls though. Wiimote+Nunchuck all the way. The gamepad doubles as a map while you're using a Wiimote, but I would have preferred having a map on my TV if I'm honest.
