Starbound [Winter Update!] - Polantaris - 2013-12-10 Razmos Wrote:Just started playing again, I can't say much about equipment scaling, but the monster scaling is already proving to be an absolute peach to me. On my new characters starting planet I was fighting monsters that could hit 15 damage per attacks, and one enemy that hit me for 45 damage. considering the measly 100 health we have, and how they are going to increase in damage, I'm not looking forward to being slaughtered in one-sided fights like this. My planets always seem to have that stupid turtle thing that can shoot energy bullets at you. They do 35 damage, and are extremely hard to dodge because of how fast they go combined with how close he has to be to use it. It's not fun =( Starbound [Winter Update!] - Dark Link - 2013-12-10 The hunting Knife is extremely good very early in the game. Its alternate swing has huge vertical range. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Razmos - 2013-12-10 I've discovered that the Hunting Bow is very useful now, and when upgraded to the Iron Hunting Bow, can one shot everything in tier 1. (it has something stupid like nearly 200 damage per hit) Upgrading it to the steel bow gives it a damage range of like 1200. it's mad. I beat the UFO in 5 shots with the Iron Hunting Bow. I found a great planet in the Beta sector, it's a Jungle Planet, with the majority of the planet covered in a Flesh biome. there is an Apex village there too. If anyone wants the co-ordinates, say so ![]() I also found a sewer dungeon on a moon, that was weird. there was just a random outhouse in the middle of nowhere, and a ladder leading down into the sewer. where there were poop monsters that one-shot you, but only have 2 HP themselves, as well as creepy robotic spiders that walk on walls and the ceiling. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Dark Link - 2013-12-10 I wouldn't get too attached to the Iron Bow. It's supposedly one of the glitched weapons / items that's going to be fixed. At first I thought it was just Tier 2+ weapons, but apparently Iron weapons were affected by this as well. Starbound [Winter Update!] - 案山子 - 2013-12-10 Has the update already been released? I was also really surprised by how much better the iron hunting bow was compared to all my other weapons, but it did no damage to the UFO when I first used it o.o. Also I found an avian gun selling place if you guys want the planet co-ordinates Starbound [Winter Update!] - Polantaris - 2013-12-10 Razmos Wrote:I've discovered that the Hunting Bow is very useful now, and when upgraded to the Iron Hunting Bow, can one shot everything in tier 1. The problem with the Hunting Bow is that when you kill with it, you can't get Pixels. I hope they change that, it's pretty annoying. The Bow is the only ranged weapon you get for quite some time but you can't use it for a large portion of the game because of that. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Dark Link - 2013-12-11 http://www.reddit.com/r/starbound/comments/1sncbu/next_update_partial_changelog_from_tiy/ Partial list of what's coming in the next patch / update. Quote: Fixed game crash when overing some items (Bubble gun!) Starbound [Winter Update!] - Razmos - 2013-12-11 Backpack Lanterns = awesome. Glad that birds are being rebalanced, those are the ones who do around 50 damage with every attack. and fall damage too! I hated taking like 80 damage from falling only a small distance. awesome update. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Ryukiroku - 2013-12-11 Sounds like a great update. I was getting a little annoyed being chased by birds forever and a day. The charcoal fix is pretty good too. I was really stretched for coal between trying to get torches going, making steel, and still have enough fuel to go from world to world. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Reako - 2013-12-11 I am currently armed with a saxaphone and the Benny Hill theme. This is the best thing ever. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Razmos - 2013-12-11 I found a green-rarity weapon called the Holy Deathspear. It has 2 different special attack! Left click poisons the enemy, and right click burns the enemy. both also provide light when used, so it's awesome for exploring. best item I've found so far. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Dark Link - 2013-12-11 Changelog for v. Indignant Koala 11/12/2013 Tiy is currently uploading the patch. EDIT: Patch is live! 535.7MB! Quote:There are a whole bunch of improvements to balance here, particularly in the early game. We aren't wiping characters or worlds, but if you want to experience the proper balance you should make a new character/worlds to play it on! Starbound [Winter Update!] - Razmos - 2013-12-11 I was literally just being slaughtered by a massive group of birds. Time to get my revenge peaches. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Olsi - 2013-12-11 My problem was how much damage i was taking with iron armor compared to before with iron armor, pretty dumb for level 1 monsters to do 60 damage with a projectile attack that is extremely quick. Also i wonder if ore balance will be giving more coal. I miss using wood as fuel Starbound [Winter Update!] - Reako - 2013-12-13 Quick question. If I were to rent one of those Multiplay servers when they are available, who all would be interested in joining? No idea when this will be (probably the 2nd stage of beta, sounds like) Starbound [Winter Update!] - SuperNerd - 2013-12-13 ![]() Wat. Anyways, I've been playing the game a lot, and I'm still very hopeful for the game, although it still needs a lot of balancing and it still really feels somewhat lacking/boring as you work through each tier. I get so tired of seeing the same structures over and over, especially when I know that they won't hold anything valuable to loot (like Avian Tombs or Apex Facilities) and I get tired of getting the same weapons with somewhat different names, but exact same appearance, ESPECIALLY when those items are the "legendary" weapons from mini-bosses (I've obtained 4 bone hammers, 3 red swords with an eye on it, and 5 swords with a water/wave theme on it). As I've been playing, I have found a couple of problems. For example, if you are on a party member's ship and try to navigate/fly it somewhere, it'll use up the fuel, but it won't actually travel to the destination and instead, YOUR ship (which you wouldn't be on) travels to that destination. And I just encountered a rather very frustrating problem with the captured monsters--once caught, they're friendly to you, so I assumed they'd be friendly to my NPC crew on my ship too (my chef, tool seller, doctor), but NOPE. As soon as I let it out of its capture device, it bolted towards them and killed them all. I was fucking pissed. Oh, and the Tier 3 boss is absolute BS. Without really spoiling anything, I just gotta say his fire damage is way too harsh and also his hitboxes are AWFUL; basically the only place you can hit him is around his stomach/chest, but he's so big and large, to get close enough for your melee weapon to hit YOU have to take touch damage. Bleh. Starbound [Winter Update!] - 案山子 - 2013-12-13 SuperNerd Wrote:Oh, and the Tier 3 boss is absolute BS. Bleh. You tried fighting him with melee?! ![]() I made SURE I had a gun for that fight. Searched up coordinates till I found a Delta gun vendor one, and even then I cheesed the hell out of him since Assault Rifles do the crappiest damage ever. Though in hindsight I think Snipers would have been the way to go as they cost practically nothing to use and hit like a truck. Starbound [Winter Update!] - Phoenix Wright - 2013-12-13 I just used dirt nonsense to cheese the 3rd and 4th bosses and then shot them to death with the steel bow. |
