So much hype about Bacchus for him to be defeated by Elfman. Although if Elfman had just been obliterated by Bacchus it wouldn't have been any surprise at all. I think the only problem with these fights is they can't trully portray the awesomeness they hold like the anime would.
And so they wanna kidnap Lucy. Being (prolly) the hottest girl in FairyTail its weird it didn't happen sooner

Also, why did Leo, Virgo, or another spirit not step in and save Lucy? I mean, they have free will to go through the spirit gate.

Elfman's fight wasn't that great. Bacchus had him outclassed in every way for a majority of the fight until Elfman pulled out Lizardman as a pretty cheap plot device to let him win. Elfman actually putting up a fight against Bacchus looked incredibly tame compared to how insane they made Bacchus look originally, and it was lame how little actual resistance Bacchus had against Elfman's plan other than falling into it completely. I guess Lizardman Elfman vs. Bacchus would have been a lot better if it were longer, felt like a lot more action was going on than what was being shown, and might probably benefit from the anime's soundtrack.
Otherwise, I was still happy about the win and the very end of the fight. Elfman kinda had the win coming to him after all the crap Bacchus said, and I'm glad that Mashima didn't make this another loss to completely destroy his characters' pride like he's been doing for the past few fights.
As for the kidnapping, I wonder why Lucy is so valuable.

Well, she was their main target. So, there might have been another group of hired thugs to capture Lucy. Those could have been decoys that Natsu found. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Because, Lucy was in the sick-bay, but she's not there now.

Not surprising at all... The anime just got to the timeskip and there's not enough material. This filler will be long. Really long. I think will last 2 seasons, maybe even a whole year.

I havent watched the FT anime yet but as far as I know, it barely has any fillers (if any), so what reasons are there to believe they will be so long as you say?. IDK what the filler is gonna be about yet but it would be cool if it focused on Alzack, Biska, Max and well... Romeo, and a cool plot happening during the years the others were lost.

But if like you said then you answered your own question. Because they haven't had barely any fillers the anime has basically caught up to the manga, and if these fillers don't last a while then the anime will have nowhere else to go once it is caught up.

The anime has never been really far from the manga. I get why they would put fillers but 1 year long? A long filler would last around 24 episodes which is 6 months. That should be enough.
Also there is the fact the great magic games are developing very fast. They could use this to make each fight/event take 2 or even 3 episodes long, then you'd have fillers that are not actual fillers and are worth watching.

The anime has tons of filler. It's just all based off content that was written by Mashima that he didn't have time to fit into the manga.
I'm willing to bet It's the same thing happening here once this arc gets going properly,since basic summaries of what the plot was going to be have already been released. Everyone remembers that odd present that Lucy got from her father that looked like it was going to be important in the manga, but then they never touched on it again? It's looking like that may well be the focus of the anime arc.

Well, the year-long filler thing was just a guess. I think it's going to be 2 season long (24 episodes).
But yeah, on second thought, I guess they'll take the One Piece route and adapt less chapters per episode, with slower pace and some manga-related filler in between.

I don't think they'd do that, since Mashima will use it sometime. Actually, I think that's why they want to kidnap Lucy.
