It's possible for me to get level 19 but that would require a normal avatar (which I am too lazy to swap for every cast) and a level 40 pink auto gun, which I have only seen once in the AH.

Axe Mastery and then everything else is preference. I'd get Physical Crit and Max Gale, personally.

Max GWL. I strongly recommend maxing Gale. Max your weapon preference Mastery.

A point in Second upper and Smasher cancel will help you a lot. That'll leave you with 166 SP left. Also, something I need to edit about the guide: If you're gonna be serious with your Exo, you might wanna reconsider maxed SitS. Yes, it's powerful, but a lot of higher level bosses become immune to it, thus making it dead weight. In that regard, level 5 + cancel is good enough. Leaving you with some extra SP to plan with.

Oh, god yes. I really wish I knew how how much the stronger bosses hate grabs cause being immune to one of my strongest skill makes me a sad sad Exo.

Amusingly, Phoenix Hammer isn't looking all that bad now thanks to ungrabbable bosses trolling all the SP I invested into Star in the Sky.

It's not that great either though. Nice AoE and y-axis behaviour, but I tend to get nailed for flying up anyways. Since the quake OTGs as well that's pretty much the only thing it has over gale in my opinion. I'd also pretty much drop SitS now, never a real use other than to get a breather in bad spots.

There's a bunch of stuff you can do with an exo since it's a rather flexible class, so ultimately you should really just play around and optimize for what you want. hurdurlithe'scontractalllllllllday
