Screw it then :p JapanMS - Open-To-All Test Server; May 16th ~ 30th - Chilly - 2011-05-18 You mentioned some pages ago that JMS was yelling at you if you tried to create a non-Adventurer or CK. Was that only for rebirth or were all of those "fancy" classes taken off JMST period from start to finish? -Is aware rebirth with the aforementioned classes is not possible- MetaSeraphim Wrote:It would count as the same exact skill, actually. Related to the above, I'm sure you aren't a clairvoyant (or are you?) but with your knowledge of skills, threads, IDs, etc. and given these combinations are hypothetically possible, how might you expect similar but slightly different skills to work out, my example being a Marksman + WH or Mage + BaM mastery situation? On a more concrete, adventurer-based foundation, you mention that passives likely will not carry over, but I can see some passives that seem weapon independent carrying over, basic stuff like Nimble Body or any of those first-joby skills, just off the top of my head. I'm just curious how the game might determine that a particular skill is locked to a particular weapon or class. JapanMS - Open-To-All Test Server; May 16th ~ 30th - MetaSeraphim - 2011-05-18 It is obvious that JMS hasn't really changed anything about rebirthing besides adding that new UI skill tab thingy. If you've ever played a high rate server in the past it is easy to know how certain things will turn out. No passives carry over, at all. That means Masteries and such don't carry over in the case that you can equip a weapon that belongs to whatever class you rebirthed from. Marksmen + Marksmen would just give you the exact same set of skills. Other class combos however should work fine, you'll be able to use their buffs and their attacks (given you can find a common version of their weapon) on a completely different job. I don't know how the game determines all this, but I do know from the information provided by Justin that this rebirth system works like it does in private servers. You're forgetting that all skills and all attacks work off of a base 5% critical rate. I might be wrong, but it is looking like it works exactly like it does in a private server. But, passives might be job locked, meaning that when he reaches 4th job again he would get control of Berserk. But, he is going to have to get to 4th job again to confirm that. Justin, Rush is weapon locked right? Dark Knight Rush should only work with Spears and Polearms unless they changed something. You're forgetting that all skills and all attacks work off of a base 5% critical rate. There's an easy way to test the critical rate deal. Just look at your stats. Your stats now have a number right under your attack that says your crit rate, ever since Big Bang. If Critical Eye works across classes with this system, it would easily be shown there, it would head back to 5% if it didn't work with other weapons. If Passives are locked out then I don't see the point to the Rebirth System what so ever. A good amount of Actives are linked to your weapon, which means if you can't equip over classes (Which I don't know if anyone has tested or not), then like 90% of skills would be locked out, and there would be no purpose to rebirthing at all. The two biggest buffs in the game Combo Attack and Shadow Partner aren't passive. Passives don't even come close to making a class more powerful than those two skills. Teppi Wrote:i doubt that 5% base crit rate would result in a great increase in crit rate after he put points into critical shot in that vid Even so with Big Bang the critical system was completely changed, it doesn't mean the rebirth system in JMS doesn't work exactly like in private servers. Unless you have played a private server that has Big Bang and critical shot didn't work on Dark Knight skills. JapanMS - Open-To-All Test Server; May 16th ~ 30th - Viaje - 2011-05-18 MetaSeraphim Wrote:No passives carry over, at all.Well... that's stupid. Mostly because it ruins a lot of combinations and generally invalidates a lot of the appeal. That would mean that a Pali -> anything would lose out on: - Final Attack? - HP Boost? - Shield Mastery? - Achilles? - Guardian? - Divine Shield? - ACB's mastery? Well, there goes the entire damn point... Mostly. JoeTang Wrote:Paladin -> Hero is only useful if you can get advantage. You aren't thinking it all the way through. You can't base a combination just on a single buff. Though the news that passive buffs don't carry over ruins a lot of the godliness, Paladins and Heroes still offer each other a butt-ton of damage enhancers. As you said, Blast is stronger %-wise than Intrepid Slash, but that's only skimming the surface of what is a ludicrous skill. Keep in mind Blast's other attributes: Ignore Def, extra Critical activation, raises minimum Critical %. Now, to reiterate and give some numbers to a statement you already made, those last two traits bring Blast's average per-hit percent to 357% (if my old math is correct). If Intrepid Slash has an average per-hit percent of 213%, then Blast is already 1.67 times as strong. However, it's that first bit that makes Blast really sexy. See, the one aspect that makes Dark Knights so damn valuable is that Sacrifice totally ignores defense. Well, a Paladin -> Hero can't do that, but it can get pretty pineappleing close: 21% (Blast) + 48% (Combat Mastery) + 30% (Threaten) = 99% Ignore Defense (on anything that can be Threatened). That'd make me cream myself. Speaking of Threaten, I noticed your earlier math included Chance Attack. Now, I don't know much about Dit's, but I'm pretty sure the only status effect they can inflict is stun. Of course, Stun doesn't work on any bosses, so there's no way for a Hero or a Dit to inflict a status effect on a boss. Having Threaten as a personal skill, however, would allow a PaliHero to constantly get Chance Attack's bonus. That all said, isn't Holy + Lightning just barely weaker than Shadow Partner anyway? 1.37 (Holy) + .125 (Lightning) = 1.495 Shadow Partner = 1.5? Pretty sure the .5% isn't significant when you consider everything else. Actually, a Paladin/Hero would also have constant CO, meaning Enrage would be a 1.64% multiplier. 1.64 * 1.495 = 2.4518 1.60 * 1.5 = 2.4 So, yeah... I think I'd forgo Flash Jump for all that. Then again, it probably wouldn't work anyway. Since Holy Focus works with Heal, it's more than likely programmed to work with a specific list of skills as opposed to actually checking the attribute of an attack. The sexiest part of a Bishop -> Paladin to me would be that it just wouldn't die. The huge MP pool from a Bishop + MG would mean that, even when a Paladin was hit, it would hardly scratch his HP. Invincible would block another 30% damage. Too bad Holy Shield's passive effect wouldn't carry over, because that'd mean a 74% chance to never get Seduced. Then there's Teleport...

I am going off of the limited information we have and how it seems so far. It is possible that passives are just job locked. Meaning you have to be at the job where the passive is. Such as 4th Job for Berserk. Need more information before giving a final judgement on it. But I do believe it works like it does in private servers for now. Personally though, I'm under the impression that it works exactly like private servers do/did, as you said. This whole thing seems pretty thrown together after all. For that reason, it seems highly unlikely that they would have purposefully put in any restraints. Even if they had, it would be a fairly odd decision to limit just passive skills. After all, the strongest multipliers tend to be active, and the fact that 4th Job attacks are multitudes stronger than early jobs would seem to create a bigger imbalance than anything else. Then again, the easiest way to test would be for him to simply equip a Polearm/Spear and look at his range. 0.o JapanMS - Open-To-All Test Server; May 16th ~ 30th - Grey - 2011-05-19 Viaje Wrote:Since Holy Focus works with Heal, it's more than likely programmed to work with a specific list of skills as opposed to actually checking the attribute of an attack. If there's some way you can get situations where you have advantage, the Paladin combination will have the upper hand. And you can get Chance Attack from another character's debuff, and after Jump, Panic can give Darkness to a boss. "Paladin Hero: 284% * 3 * 1.495 * 2 * 1.64 * 1.25 * 1.182 / 0.84 = 7348.6%" What is the "1.182/.84"? My numbers are: Paladin Hero: 357% (one hit of Blast) * 3 * 1.495 (charges) * 2 (ACA) * 1.64 (Enrage) * 1.25 (Chance Attack) = 6564% Shadower Hero: 213% (one hit of Intrepid Slash) * 3 * 2 (ACA) * 1.6 (Enrage) * 1.25 (Chance Attack) * 1.5 (Shadow Partner) = 3834% I find labeling my math helps clear up some confusion slash makes finding errors a bit more simplified. I'll trust you on Boomerang/Savage Blow since, again, I don't know pomegranate about Dits. Same with Assassinate, because you'd have to explain the nuances. As for "worthwhile bosses", I also don't know what JMS has, but that's generally true. My only argument is that a Pali/Hero doesn't need an elementally weak boss to beat out a ShadHero. With that in mind, I'm comparing one character to another, not parties. If you want to discuss how other character's buffs would affect the comparison, that's a whole different story, isn't it? The same would apply to talking about future patches since, if you're going to use one change, you have to use them all. Picking and choosing updates doesn't create a realistic picture. |
