Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - holyforest - 2010-04-15 Dusk Wrote:You only get 3 Pokemon for Castle and Tower and only one for Hall. First, I'd replace useless moves like Dream Eater, Charge, Petal Dance, and Fly. Not sure with what at the moment; just look through their movepools for options. You don't need Waterfall and Aqua Tail on Feraligatr, they do pretty much the same thing. Battle Frontier is all about minimizing the amount of luck you have to deal with, because eventually it's going to run out, so I'd replace Aqua Tail. You don't need Discharge and Thunder Wave on the same Pokemon; the wohle point of Discharge is Paralysis, otherwise you'd use Thunderbolt. You don't get much room for setup unless you force it (Trick a Choice item onto an opponent), so keep that in mind when using moves like Nasty Plot or Sunny Day. I was thinking of as much type coverage as I could get (especially for Hall). Would Earthquake be a good replacer for Aqua Tail? Edit: Derp, I knew you'd say fly. Crap, who will be my fly pokemon now? Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Jon - 2010-04-15 Well, I've completed the Kanto badges. Just have to defeat Red and I'll be done with storyline pomegranate. I'm at about 85 dex entries (and counting). So... I guess I'll be busy for a while.
Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - FlameChocobo - 2010-04-16 While trying to realize what I'm doing wrong when willing to catch Suicine. (Which I caught, finally) Out of nowhere, a Shiny Koffing appeared! So I had to switch to Scizor to False Swipe (Comes in handy when trying to catch Pokemon) and catch it using a Dusk Ball. ![]() That was unexpected. This is my very first shiny I ever encountered and caught in my whole life. This is on Heart Gold BTW. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Hazzy - 2010-04-16 Just caught Red Gyarados. Traded with a friend at school and now have a Totodile. ![]() Current team is 36 Typhlosion, 30 Probat, and 30 Miltank. Thinking about adding Pinsir to the team, but at the same time I need a powerful water type and special attacker. :/ Was thinking Kingdra. Opinions? I'd love to go for a 5-Poke team, but that requires putting HMs on my main guys. :| I have Fly on Probat, but nothing else. If I went Kingdra, I'd get surf. Still leaves... Cut, Whirlpool, Rocksmash, Waterfall, and Rock climb. Not a big fan of any of them, except Waterfall, but Miltank and Probat don't learn it. I really like my para-hax on Miltank's STAB'd Body Slam. If I ignore whirlpool since you use it like 4 times in the entire game, and cut since it sucks... Rockclimb, Waterfall, Rocksmash, and Strength? Anyone know an easy-to-access pokemon that learns all four of those? (Smeargle doesn't count, he's annoying to teach moves) Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Rob - 2010-04-16 Just get HM slaves for everything. Sure, it's annoying to switch pokemons everytime but you're not ruining your plans until you get to the Move Tutor. You could trade for a bibarel. It can learn like every HM possible. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - holyforest - 2010-04-16 Hi guys, I've been thinking of what moves to replace on my team for the Battle Frontier so they're more evened out, but I'm stuck on some options. Any tips on which of these moves to choose would be great, 'cause they all sound equally good to me (yeah I know, it's sort of sad). Feraligatr: Replacing Aqua Tail with possibly: Earthquake? Dragon Pulse? Shadow Claw? Noctowl: Replacing Dream Eater and Fly(maybe) with possibly: Shadow Ball? Heat Wave? Sky Attack? Ampharos: Replacing Charge and Thunder Wave with possibly: Fire Punch? Signal Beam? Power Gem? Brick Break? Outrage? Sunflora: Replacing Petal Dance with possibly: Toxic? Sludge Bomb? Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Smooth Criminal - 2010-04-17 Just caught Raikou with a Poke Ball. It kept screwing with my Mean Look by Roaring, but in the encounter where I caught it; it never Roared and that's why I lucked out. I suppose it eventually ran out of PP for Roar from all of my previous encounters, and it finally went in the damn ball. Now, I'm off to do the same with Entei. I might just use the Master Ball on Latios because it's such a waste to let it collect dust or use it on some other legendary that doesn't run away. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Piggy 2.0 - 2010-04-17 Got the Gold print at the tower, and silver everywhere else except the factory. Fun fun. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - holyforest - 2010-04-17 More rematches, more coins. Caught Articuno today. Still got Moltres and Mewtwo. The Battle Factory is a lost cause. I'll never get to Thorton. I can't even get past 1 battle. Anyhow, tried out the Cadtle for the 1st time. I really like it. Got Buena's number. Any tips on my roster's moves? Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Five Second Pose - 2010-04-17 I caught my 230th Pokemon today, Jynx. I also had accidental Entei encounter #11. It wants me a lot more than I want it. Give us the other moves of your Pokemon to see what coverage you need. Shadow Ball and Heat Wave are both nice replacements for Fly and Dream Eater though. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Five Second Pose - 2010-04-17 I just made my first foray into the Safari Zone. Starting with all the Wetland Pokemon except Shelgon, since none of those need stuff to be in there for a certain amount of time to catch Pokemon, but I can leave stuff in there to level up. Shadow Ball and Heat Wave are both nice replacements for Fly and Dream Eater though. Ok, well I already decided for Feraligatr. I replaced Aqua Tail for Earthquake. It also knows Crunch, Ice Fang, and Waterfall. Ampharos also knows Discharge and Thunderpunch. Still need to replace 2 moves. Noctowl also knows Extrasensory and Hypnosis. Heat Wave and Shadow Ball? Hmm.......That sounds nice. Sunflora also knows Sunny Day, Solarbeam and Leaf Storm. Will this help? Edit: Also caught Moltres really easily. Like in 2 tries. Just got Mewtwo left. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Dusk - 2010-04-17 Possible set for Sunflora: Solar Beam Synthesis (heals 2/3 HP in sun) Solarbeam/Leaf Storm Sludge Bomb/Earth Power/Toxic Sunflora is pretty useless against Steel types without a good Hidden Power. Sludge Bomb is your most powerful reliable attack, but has awful coverage. Earth Power is a good option, giving you the ability to handle Fire and Steel types, but completely losing the ability to do anything to Flying types. Solarbeam works great with the whole Sunny Day strategy, but Leaf Storm may be better if you don't think Sunflora can stay in long enough to set up sun and get more than one attack in. Only use Sunflora if the rest of your team will benefit (or at least not be hindered by) from the sun. Heat Rock and Focus Sash are good hold items. Ampharos has a much higher special attack than Attack, so don't use ThunderPunch. Good moves to use are Substitute, Focus Blast, Focus Punch, Toxic, Reflect, and Light Screen. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - Scaeva - 2010-04-18 Ok, after lot's of grinding my team has these levels: Typhlosion Lv.68 Pikachu Lv.68 Honchkrow Lv.68 Gengar Lv.68 Golduck Lv.70 Victreebel Lv.70 Leveled Victreebell to 70 on Hiker Kevin with constant trainer rematches, rest wast trained with the E4 but Golduck got so much exp from Lance that he leveled ahead. Going to get 2 more levels on the other ones and defeat Blue, then go trough the E4 one or two more times, and then go to Red. You guys probably found this out, but if you call a trainer, defeat it, and go to another route/place, you can call again right away and rematch again, and there's no limit. EDIT: Everyone is level 70 now, I defeated Blue, did the double battle with Clair and Lance (Silver had another awesome quote, and Lance's Gyarados managed to miss 5 times in a row using just Ice Fang, and yes, I gave it a chance to miss 5 times xD), collected a bunch of stuff using Rock Climb(while there's still a load of things around which only require Cut/Strength/Rocksmash, but since I've put Rock Climb on my Typhlosion so I can take my whole team to fight Red and I'm too lazy to go to the PC for my HM slaves those are still there). Right now I'm on the S.S. Aqua for no reason really. Where are you guys at on your Heart Gold/Soul Silver playthrough? - TøbiasBlack - 2010-04-18 I'm EV-training a team for the Battle Frontier.
