The units are frozen for 1.5/2/2.5/3 seconds (10 seconds for creeps) and it will always deal 70 damage at the intervals of 0 seconds, 1 second, 2 seconds and 3 seconds. Meaning 140 damage over two times at level 1 and 280 damage over 4 times at level 4, for example. Since it's dealt at intervals this might've been the source of confusing/misunderstanding.
But yeah learning heroes will definitely be the tallest order.

That's completely understandeable
Playing something like crystal maiden can be a pain as a new player i imagine, she's essentially the slowest hero in the game not counting heroes that have yet to be ported.
Some advice i would like to give would be to start a lobby of your own with bots(fill empty slots with bots) and cheats enabled, this way you can level up your hero to 25 instantly and try out a hero to see what they can do, or give yourself a lot of gold to try out items to get a feel of things. (-lvlup 25 for level 25 for example or -gold 999999 for gold)
I'd especially recommend doing this with a hero like Invoker, Lone Druid, Earth spirit and Meepo to see what they can do and what to expect when playing against them since i would probably consider them the heroes the most different from anything you will ever encounter in LoL.
Not to mention sometimes it's fun to try playing something without any restrictions (-wtp is a mode you can enable with cheats where there are no cooldowns and things cost zero mana) playing a hero like storm spirit with infinite mana can be amusing.

Yeah, that's what I want to help you with. I have changed my settings around and I can't remember default ones to tell you about other keybinds, what they do and so on.
And I also want to give you some shop tips which is what I noticed you struggled the most with. I'm not gonna tell you what to buy but how to browse and buy easily. After that you'll be set to learn heroes and items.
As for learning that, I think it comes down to just play around with them, get used to their stuff and experience what each one can do, without worrying if you're doing it wrong but just experimenting to learn, and ask for advice if you don't understand something at all. It's the same for items and you can learn them as you play more.

Same reason as when you play Axe and you get no spins compared to when you play against Axe that doesn't stop spinning ever, even if not attacked
They fixed that though, but Lich feels that way now. A friend's been playing it lately and he gets the worse bounces but when we play against it we get rekt.

Thank fucking god, i can finally play dota without running into pudge literally every game. Rot bug finally fixed.

I did get a spammer but he was actually good playing SB and they really seized every one of my suicide initiations, making my 4 deaths worth it.
The one thing that mildly bothered me was that I couldn't last hit at all and I didn't get my blink until 25mins or so because I had to buy every ward while Dazzle finished the Mek.
I forgot how damn annoying Tide's attack animation is and it took me a while to get those miserable 50 lh ;_;
I don't get why last hitting with melee carries is easier than with ranged ones while it's the other way for supports, I still suck at farming with almost every support hero, regardless of attack type. Will work on lh with supports in between qualifier games this weekend!

All Randomed as Pudge. Went mid and was doing poorly against Huskar. We were 29-40 and no true carry like Huskar, but through a stroke of good luck when they tried to break out base we wiped them out and slowly swung the lost game back into our favor where we kept winning teamfights. Games like these come so rarely, but feel so good. Also it had been so long since I played Pudge that my hooks kept missing, but eventually Dismember and Rot were doing far more for me than Hook.

Had a weird game yesterday, friends asked me t join them and i reluctantly agreed. First game we got stomped in CM because we lost all our lanes because stupid plays.
Then next game we played allpick and decided 5 seconds into the game that we'd do level 1 roshan, we rushed there and almost died with 2 heroes and then got rosh.
I left rosh with 200 hp and went to lane with aegis mid as bloodseeker. Enemy pudge saw me with 200 hp and thought "I NEED TO KILL HIM" and tower dived me for the kill, i realized i could just fight him and he ended up dying for first blood and i just used the aegis.
After that the game became a bit of a joke, like our wisp player would buyback and ult into enemy fountain just to get a last hit on a lina with dagon.

Games lately are dreadful, especially last games with Adam that are the hugest stomps I've ever seen... but I just queued alone and it's somehow worse, people playing much worse than usual, I'm used to people making the same mistakes as me but these were the same mistakes I did when I started playing. I figure both are just the system fucking up unevenly skilled parties but is it frustrating when you solo queue.

Got every single new immortal item, and they're so fucking good.
Man i'm so happy with all of them except maybe the CM one, but i think the CM one looks better ingame when seen from above tbh.
