I was hoping he would make a return, I prefer him to regular Link.

I like Toon Link myself, but if we're going to be limited in characters, why are we getting reskinned characters?

I get that Toon Link is fundamentally different in his abilities, but they could easily mix and match regular Link and Toon Link into one character, while also making regular Link actually useful. Then we can save the space for a character that is new.

I understand, but if this means Falco has a better chance of returning, preferably without a landmaster, I'm happy.

I prefer Link over Toon Link myself, especially since it's the Twilight Princess version still. But it's good to see him back in action, still.

I hope they change his crappy Triforce Slash to a crazy-looking Hurricane Spin. It has much more potential to be his his final smash, rather than... a lazy edit of Link's.

(previous screenshot) Why so serious Adult Link?

Also,
案山子 Wrote:I remember questioning that all the time when I was a kid. "Where did he get that earring from..? He's been in here for 7 years.. wut Sad And why is his nose so pineappleing huge?"

Sorry for the week old quote.
The official manga surprisingly covered this. Adult Link goes to Kakariko Village to practice sword techniques with Impa, then Shadow Link emerges out of the well. Link defeats it while riding Epona, and Impa pierces his ear (with an arrow?) saying even though he's not a Sheikah it's a sign of Sheikah boys entering manhood.

Obviously the manga isn't canon, so it's just a fun side-story.

Although I guess the other alternative is Rauru got bored and decided to give Link a little makeover.

Toon link holds his shield like adult link does eh? Pretty sure he never had the shield defense or at least it was never that great.

Also that bomb looks shiny and nice.

Yes he did, if either Link is standing completely still, he will hold the shield in front of him, it can protect him from certain projectile attacks.

Stumbled across a pretty good break down of the boxing ring stage being a punch out!! stage on neogaf. (As if anyone would be doubting little mac getting included this time around)

Quote:Whenever I would post tidbits about this, I got a couple of requests to make this its own thread, so I decided to go ahead go through with it.

So, the boxing ring stage. You've seen it, I'm sure. Some people aren't exactly sure if it's a Punch Out related stage, if it's a Kirby themed stage, or just a generic new boxing ring stage just for kicks. Well, I'm gonna tell you that this stage is a Punch Out themed stage for a multitude of reasons. So let's begin I guess...

First off, the audience is human, so you can rule out any possibility that this is a Kirby themed stage (all Kirby boxing rings have Kirby characters instead). The marquee's in the background are all dot styled, which is consistent with the marquees in Punch Out Wii, and even the title screen and round indicators for Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Various dot styled marquee screens: http://i.imgur.com/sgmo0ru.png

All logos in Punch Out Wii are adorned with clusters of stars, which are usually in 3's because triple star punches are the most powerful punch in the game, as well as the "leaf vines" on the sides (forgive me; I don't know the term for this) and a giant star somewhere in the middle. The logo in the ring, while being smash themed, shares all of these characteristics.

The ring ropes are also identical in both color and configuration as the Major Circuit ring in Punch Out Wii. Similarly, the corners are all identical colors and positions as the Punch Out Wii corners. The logo in Smash also features a ribbon at the top, which is a direct throwback to the World Circuit ribbon at the top and bottom of the logo.

Also, as a random tidbit, the ribbon in the Smash Punch Out stage says "CHAMPIONSHIP" on it, which is probably because if it straight up said "Major Circuit" on it, it would be flat out obvious. Plus since Smash Bros doesn't have "circuits", championship makes more sense in the context of the game.

The final fight in Punch Out Wii, Mr. Sandman, has a very particular entrance for both his Title Defense and Contender fights. He approaches the ring while there's a green laser light show that goes on behind him. Well, check this out...

Same green laser show.

But yeah, there are an abundance of intentional details that suggest this stage is designed to be a Punch Out stage. There may be a few details that I'm missing, but those were all the details I seemed to notice. Unsure if this confirms Mac being a character, but at the very least there's a stage from the Punch Out series in the game.

I hope SSB4 is amazing.

He doesn't appear to have a single thing changed about him. No new moves...only the back air seems to be more of a horizontal kick rather than the slightly slanted one i think he had. I hope he has more kill power in this game, or at the very least a lot more speed, but we won't know until release. Sad

I'd still like Impa in this game, or a new Kirby character

There's already 3...brawl had what? 7-9ish? I doubt this game will have as many characters as brawl did given the pressures this time around as well.

Brawl had 16(?) new characters (ike, snake, lucas, pit, diddy kong, sonic, metaknight, zero suit samus, wolf, dedede, olimar, pokemon trainer, lucario, rob, toon link, wario), unless I missed someone.

I think we knew around 10 of the newcomers prior to jap release, so it is a little worrying.

I really wonder what kind of drops they're going to make if they really are keeping the roster slim since pretty much all of these were pretty solid characters except maybe pokemon trainer.
