IllegallySane Wrote:Well..... Brawlers may have some trouble later on. The local guild Fighter extraordinaire is the only one with a 60 Brawler, which can be an indicator about the class, although by the same record there isn't a level 60 Grappler yet, lol. Have you looked into the other Fighter sub-classes, like Nen or Striker?

Sorry I inted to be a striker, I just said brawler as a general term.

IllegallySane Wrote:Tips I can give:
2. Learn to Backstep Cancel, and how to cancel your attacks (hotkey or command, whichever is better/faster).

You mean in the mist of attacks? I don't clearly understand what you mean, or it's just because all my moves are currently "toss/superkick/fastflickingkick/anduppercut", there's not much to cancel, unless you're saying you can cancel after damage is delt (or obviously reg attack combos) and pretty much get rid of the recovery?

IllegallySane Wrote:3. Grind up blue gear, sell white gear for gold. Auction House is your friend.

I need elaboration on this please Sad.
IllegallySane Wrote:4. Sky Tower is your training ground for the rest of the game. Make mistakes, learn from them there, and try to not get hit too many times. Sky Tower will also teach you to not just bumrush an enemy to death; make reasonable judgments for when to back off an enemy. If you can't eventually solo Sky Tower on Kings Road you either need to get better or this is just not the game for you.

What level is skytower? Also can you reccomend what skill should be hotkey'd as a striker, and which ones to actually learn the combo's, or is this kind of "how you feel" kind of thing"

IllegallySane Wrote:6. Sell Demon scrolls to the Auction House for money. From my experience, it's just not worth the trouble of gambling away 150k~450k (lowest level demon scrolls to highest level demon scrolls) for a small chance at a valuable piece of equipment. I know I scored a weapon worth ~18m earlier in the thread, but that was after using probably 4-6m worth of demon scrolls that could have been sold for money; as far as I know it could have also been a crappy blue equipment. If you are naturally lucky, then go for it.

Now I'm not sure if I actually got one of these before, I think I have and used it by mistake lol, but what typically drops them, bosses? I mean once again the highest dungeon I have been in is the 4th one unlocked during story mode, by no means am I that far. I didn't know about the fatique stuff so I was redoing lower level dungeons to level up a good 3 above the next one. lol
IllegallySane Wrote:7. If you need MP potions, Dark Tequilas are usually the best bang for your buck. For HP potions, a couple rounds of Drake's Nest with the Elven Drake Champagne quest is not too bad an idea.

Again just a quick reference of what level requirement would this be.

IllegallySane Wrote:9. Lastly, use DFOSource for the guides, just don't go there and be a serious forum member. There's a small group of smart people in a sea of bad ones.

I believe that was the ones I was using, or received the guide from, I notice this game doesn't go by level guides, rather "IF YOU GOT THIS SP USE IT HERE", do I have the right idea on that lol.

Replies will be in bold.

DustBunny Wrote:Sorry I inted to be a striker, I just said brawler as a general term.

Oh, okay. Striker is pretty much an MP chugging engine of destruction. Biggrin

Yes in the midst of attacking. For example, you'd backstep if an enemy is about to hit you, or you Uppercut in the middle of your XXX attack so you can launch enemies in the air and continue to combo them.

I need elaboration on this please Sad.

There's an old alchemist named Loton. He can disassemble equipment for cube fragments. These fragments are used for various things in the game, mostly quest related, and clear cube fragments (the most abundant cube) are used for your level 35+ skills.

What level is skytower? Also can you reccomend what skill should be hotkey'd as a striker, and which ones to actually learn the combo's, or is this kind of "how you feel" kind of thing"

Sky Tower is available at level 16. Not sure what skills your should hotkey as a Striker as I don't have one. Ask Alex or Sera in the guild.

You'd use the Demon scrolls by talking to the female priestess Grandis and purchase hell mode stones, and yes typically bosses drop them (starting at Sky Tower).

Again just a quick reference of what level requirement would this be.

Drake's Nest is the entrance dungeon in Sky Tower, level 16. Dark Tequilas have no level requirement but heal 250 MP (albeit a 10% chance to make your character fall asleep) but are probably the cheapest MP potions you can get.

I believe that was the ones I was using, or received the guide from, I notice this game doesn't go by level guides, rather "IF YOU GOT THIS SP USE IT HERE", do I have the right idea on that lol.

Yeah there's not really a level guide, more a list of what must-have/recommended skills to get/max for X class.

When you say blue and white, that's what I was referring too, I did get a purple belt thing that is untradeable, is that what you were referring too? Also when's the "gear up" stage of DFO, maplestory is like lv100, WoW is max level, I'm assuming DFO is like 50?

Also is dungeons the only way to level?

White gear: Crappiest gear you can wear. It'll usually say something like "Rusty Steel Sword" or something that implies it's inferior quality. These should be NPC'd for gold.

Blue gear: Common gear you should wear until you can acquire Purple+ gear. Feed these to Loton's machine to gather cubes as stated above.

Purple: Rare equipment. These offer better bonus stats than blue and white gear. But become untradeable once you equip them.

Pink: Unique equipment. A lot of the time offers better stats than purples. Also becomes untradeable after equipping.

Orange: Epic gear. These only drop from Hell party and are binded on pick up.

Red: Chronicle gear. You shouldn't worry about this just yet. Quests dont start until around the upper 4x's.

"Gearing up" can begin around 30. That's when most Purple armor sets start coming together. But it's recommended you ignore it until you hit level 50. Weapons you can go nuts with if you want though.

Striker Guide. It's a bit outdated but it will give you a general idea of what skills you need and some basic combos.

Here is a complete fighter guide, you might find some useful information here.

As for hotkeys, you generally want to hotkey moves that have complex inputs and input moves with simple inputs. Higher level skills usually have complex inputs, so it wouldn't hurt to learn the inputs of the more basic skills. Hammer Kick is a move I usually input since it's just Up (while holding) + Z. Just remember, the most important thing for hotkeys is picking a layout that is comfortable and accessible for you, don't be afraid to more around hotkeys and skills.

About the learning to use backstep, the best example is the boss of dragonoid's nest. When you knock down the boss, he'll get back up, and use a shock wave attack that you should want to avoid. Instead of trying to combo him on the ground, as strikers are known to do at the end, back off, or if he before you end your combo, back step farther away.

Ew, a Lightsabre. Kill it with fire in the Loton machine.

But... I can't kill it with fire... It would just grow stronger!

If you apply enough fire, nothing can't be killed.

That's a pretty hot Lightsabre.

Confirming Male Grapplers to be grouping slaves. (As opposed to Female Grapplers' holding slave job)

Ropling (Fling) makes it easy to group EVERYTHING into a tiny box.

Original General Dungeon Fighter Thread - IllegallySane - 2011-03-02

That RoL was sure RofL worthy.

*Oh hey Bakalava. I wanna ask how different are Male Strikers to Female ones. Are they strong enough to be better than them, or just different playstyle?

The only skill that really makes a difference is Lightning Dance.
Male Lightning Dance is made to kill huge mobs, Female Lightning Dance is made to beat down bosses.

Rising Fist vs. Rising Kick is horizontal vs. vertical.
(Think reverse Air Raid/Sonic Spike)

Beat Drive vs. Hectopascal Kick is many weak hits + strong finisher vs a couple of average hits + strong finisher.

Everything else is pretty much identical bar some fairly insignificant damage differences (5-20%), same play-style too I would assume.
