The solution in a show like pokémon to have a protag that isn't an idiot is quite simple, new protags every now and then. Let ash win a pineappleing league and become a pokémon master and let a new character take over, obviously it's quite too late for that to happen, but it's the kind of direction that was originally planned for the pokémon anime but due to how popular ash's pokémon had become they stuck with them. Aaaaaand then ash ditches most of them and ends up with an entirely new crew of pokémon minus the stable few like pikachu and occasionally appearing ones like charizard.

Punch Wrote:Just the way it moves. My previous predictions were Ghost or Dragon. And honestly if Sylveon is Dragon then WOW did they dissapoint all of us because a Dragon type Eevee has so much potential in appearance (should be awesome looking). And Ghost, it's not only not floating but it's surrounded by a meadow full of flowers.. not very "Ghost-like" not to mention it's in pure daylight. So, Normal makes sense now, or Flying. (MAYBE Bug. Just to put that out there.)

I don't understand the point of a Normal Type Eevee Evolution when that's what the base Eevee is. If they wanted to make it normal they could just make base Eevee a little stronger and say, "Want Normal Type? Don't evolve it."

I also think that if they were going to make a Normal Eeveelution they'd make it look more like Eevee. the pokemon is all about adapting to evolve, it doesn't need to "adapt" to be normal, it already is. I think a normal eeveelution would just be a bigger stronger version of Eevee.

Yeah...

That being said, I have absolutely no idea what type this one is. It doesn't look the role for Flying, and Normal would be silly based on the two reasons we gave. It's not fire because we have Flareon, and it's not Psychic because we have Espeon. Bug just doesn't seem to fit the design at all, nor does Flying. I can't really think of much else that's good for the design.

On the whole Sylveon issue, I'm personally stumped. As completely unlikely as it is, I say a new type fits it best, like, Light or whatever. Unless they're doing type repeats, the only types it fits are either taken (like Psychic) or in the case of normal, it wouldn't really work (as it's too dissimilar to Eevee). Honestly, I have no idea. I can't see Nintendo making a new type or starting repeats, but I feel like those are the only too options that work.

Some people think it might be a light-type, the reverse-type of dark.
I wouldnt' mind that at all, honestly.

Make plant-types immune to it(photosynthesis, durr).
Make it and dark deal super effective damage to eachother.
And well, light-based attacks probably wouldn't be too hard to think of.

They could probably pull the same stunt they did with Bite (Normal > Dark) and make Swift become Light. The big problem with adding a new typing this late would be adding enough of them to have variety in proportion to the total number of pokemon without flooding X and Y with them to a point of nuisance.

I suppose, but still.
Could also have some old pokémon evolve into a dual type with light eventually. Or just give older pokémon the light typing out of nowhere, like with magnemite and steel.
Like making ampharos and its evolutionary branch electric/light.

But the Dark type isn't the dark you're thinking of. Like, I get what you're saying and I thought that too but the current Dark type is supposed to mean like "dirty/sneaky fighting" which is why Fighting is super effective against Dark. It doesn't mean Dark, as in shadows and vampires and pomegranate. That's more of a Ghost type.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Malthe - 2013-03-10

The japanese name of the dark type is "Evil type" :l
Make light good type, as it so often is.
That's kind of what i meant. Seeing that dark is evil, make light good and you'd have a counter-type.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - MorbidMagus - 2013-03-10

We already have a "good" type in the form of Fighting, which represents Justice and Honor, making it a direct counter to Dark.

Not opposed to a light type in the slightest. But I'd like to see it actually be based off light instead of "light is the good type!"

Indeed. And instead of using Malthe's idea with Light and Dark, do it with Light and Ghost. (Of course the common theory involving new types is also adding Sound type, so how would that factor in?)

Sound type wouldn't work for a variety of reasons, like certain moves such as Bug Buzz.

Bug Buzz is a Bug Type move that has the Sound property (blocked by Soundproof). If it was given Sound as a type, it wouldn't be a Bug type anymore and a whole bunch of pokemon lose out on a STAB move.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Dredragon - 2013-03-10

They could make it a secondary stat, and it would show similar to how it shows if the move is physical or special, with the pool thing, or the impact picture. They could just put something meaning it's a bug type move, but also sound, and if the pokemon is a sound type it just gains stab with that move too, so it won't change the move's original type.

So bug buzz would be bug/sound move, and any sound types have stab with it.

but I doubt they'll make that lol

New types wouldn't work in general because of the fact that they would have to not only add new types into the mix of, what, 600+ Pokemon? But they would also have to possibly change types of pre-existing Pokemon as well as moves, as well as possibly changing move sets in general.

I tell my girlfriend that they basically missed the boat when it comes to more types in Pokemon. If they were going to add more then they should have YEARS ago, possibly along with Gen 2's addition of Steel and Dark.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y - Loose - 2013-03-10

They did say that the game would evolve and a lot of things will change. So, I'm sure adding a new type and changing/adding types to past Pokemon would not be a problem. It could be a nice breath of fresh air.

I hope they do add a new type, either Sound, Light or Spirit.

obviously all fake, but I thought some of these had some really good designs, like the Electric hummingbird and the Ghost/Bug pumpkin pokemon. Bug/Dragon Dragonfly, a scarecrow pokemon.
Also some 5th gen babies and evolutions towards the end.

Here's a picture if the video is too long

Haha I only just noticed the Stunfisk evolution, top notch.

Wow, those are really interesting fakes.
