Last time I used windows xp, it btched at me saying "ZOMG YOU NEED THE DISC TO INSTALL JAPANESE LANGUAGE SO IF UR COMPY DIDN'T COME WITH IT U BETTER LEARN TO PIRATE DAT SHT OR LOL@J00!!!111ONEONEONEoh-en-eee!!!" Did that ever change?
Vista and Win 7 just let you smack the language up there and move on with your life.
I guess I can start taking requests for making game accounts for those that are just now getting to the forum and can't read Japanes but want to jump in the open beta when that comes since I have nothing better to do besides translating these paragraphs out of a book for my translation class....I don't even want to think about the spoken interpretation class...hooooly fk!
Just PM me with with your desired:
Login name
Password
Email address

I think that's about it.

I didn't think it needed the disc or language files to add a keyboard. I might be wrong, though. I don't have an XP machine to test it on anymore. Um, I also have a link to the language files for XP, if anyone needs it. Just PM me.

Yeah, XP requires you to have your Windows XP SP3 CD to install the language packs, though they are available online somewhere (East Asian Language pack, if I recall correctly, it is called).

Open Beta Announced (kinda)?

 Set Date

The message says :

"Thank you for participating in the EXCBT!
Open Beta is planned to begin on May 27th."

There was no official notice about it, but if you click the start button, you'll get that message.

Dragon Nest JP - Erich - 2010-05-12

Sounds good. With open beta, we have more time to figure out what's causing all these errors.. hopefully we can be able to get people on by the official release.

Dragon Nest JP - deldelight8 - 2010-05-13

i'll definitely be on board with this

So I finally reached Level 15 on my archer...and now I keep failing my class change test? Does anyone have any tips? Am I supposed to hit the white dogs?

...how are you playing?

I'm playing the korean version though I will play the japanese version when it is re-released as soloing is getting a bit boring. So do you have any tips for the class change, I think you've reached lv15 on your archer already.

lvl 15 was the cap in the cbt/excbt so there were no subclasses available =/

ahh I see...for the job advance, you are teleported to this map with these dogs which I assume you have to kill. You are behind a barricade and cannot enter the area where the dogs spawn and travel. What I think you're supposed to do is to stop the dogs from crossing from the left of the map to the right or vice versa depending which side the dog spawns at. After a while, white dogs spawn and I'm not sure whether you're supposed to hit them or not. The shortbow is pretty bad in this IMO as its range is too short, the crossbow seems be the best choice with its balance of speed and range.

P.S. Do you know what all those gems and random items in your inventory do? My inventory is always full because I don't know which items to keep.

Dragon Nest JP - Phantasm - 2010-05-16

Hopefully, that will be in the JP OBT so I can check that out. Well, it better be.

Yea, the gems are used for fortifying, bags are used to open and get gems and probably stuff to sell to npcs for a bit of change...then there's the garbage drops that you just toss.

Buh. I wish it were the 27th already. D: I have nothing to play at the moment. Sad

11 days until Open Beta begins.

Dragon Nest JP - btbam - 2010-05-16

Woot! I somehow managed to pass the archers class change exam! After killing the dogs, you have to go to the gigantic minotaur boss again and complete the dungeon. Then you go back to your job instructor and you will probably get your job advance. The reward is a lv 15 blue weapon (hopefully you know what I mean) of your choice (crossbow, shortbow or longbow) and 85K exp (around 35%Wink. The reason I haven't job advanced yet is that I'm not sure what weapons the bowmaster uses and I don't want to get a blue weapon that I won't use. Also, the bowmaster seems to have 2 skill trees for active skills, are they for different weapons? Phantasm, if you're not busy, could you please go to the japanese site and help me check this?

P.S. About the tent quest thing, you just needed to jump on the crates next to the tent to reach the top of the tent. There will be a invisible NPC on the top.

i believe bowmasters use either long bows or crossbows as they have the mastery skill for both weapons, while the acrobats have short bow mastery. I'm pretty sure neither of the skill routes are weapon specific because the korean site shows Pinpoint Shot and Revolutionary Ballista being used with a crossbow. It all comes down to what kind of style you want to use. I'm assuming that xbows are slightly stronger while long bows simply have more range. It makes sense since in the weapon masteries, the long bow master gives more increase in range. But i'm not how significant it will be as bowmasters get the buff Slyph's Aid anyway. If long bows shoot slightly faster, that may also be a difference.

personally, i made a skill build for bowmasters (for my friend) to achieve biggest shot range for team pvp as i will be taking up the acrobat ^_^ but my build is a glass cannon, so if any melees are able to get a combo off you, you're pretty much screwed unless your teammates intervene. although i'm thinking of changing up the skill build again because after watching countless pvp videos on youtube, it seems it's hard to constantly achieve long distances between you and your opponent since most of them have some sort of speed skills (ex. triple dash, line drive, blink + tele, etc)

thanks for the job adv info btw; it'll be helpful for OBT ^_^

Dragon Nest JP - btbam - 2010-05-18

Thanks for all the information Stigma =) In the end, I chose to get the longbow and I think I'm going to get the skill tree on the left. Apparently(not confirmed), the left tree uses physical damage while the right tree uses magic damage. I'm going to choose the left skill tree because the lv32 skill Arrow Rain seems pretty cool!

It would also be useful if the developers decided what level the second class change will be at. If it is at level 32(current lvl cap), we could obtain skills from both trees and then get a skill reset after the job change and get 1 tree to get the lv40 skill.

May I ask a few questions, of both the korean and japanese versions?

1.) What is the name of the korean server? (Korean and english pronunciation)
2.) What is the name of the japanese server? (Japanese and Romaji)
3.) Is there a guild system yet?

Thanks,
~Erich

EDIT: Forums are up, by the way.
