You poor bastard. Guild Wars 2 - Corn - 2012-09-04 Derosis Wrote:Poor soul. Windows 8 is going to be absolutely terrible. Woah...I just got that link added. Somehow. My dad got me with the argument "HEY IF YOU'RE GONNA MAJOR IN CS EVERYONE IS GOING TO BE USING WINDOWS 8 IN 2 YEARS EVEN THOUGH IT'S TERRIBLE JUST BECAUSE IT'S NEW SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL LEARN IT." I was completely nonplussed as to what to say to that. Hopefully by then the HP Envys will have good graphics cards (oh yeah, did I mention I have to get an HP or a Dell? Student discount...well, I don't really have anything against HP, I mean, this 5 year old is still running pretty fine, but I know a lot of people do...). Did I mention the computer I'm on is a Vista? Edit: By the way does anyone reallllllllllllly want to become a Jr. Master? I mean I could really care less since I know all of you folks. I already promoted y'all to the second lowest rank. You can invite other people to the guild if you'd like. Guild Wars 2 - DrRusty - 2012-09-04 Pretty sweet very well hidden jump quest I found

I had a Dell Laptop that I used for over 4 years, and the only reason I got rid of it was because I wanted a laptop with a touch + swivel screen. Neither company is BAD, they just add way too much bloatware to their new PCs. There's simple solutions for those problems though. Plus, from what I've been reading over at zdnet.com, there's downgrade options for free, but you have to contact Microsoft directly or some crap like that. If you really want to deal with W8 though...have fun with that. My company still uses XP so that "everyone is going to use W8 in 2 years" crap is just that, total crap. DrRusty; Jump quests suck. I hate them in MS, and they're no exception here. Actually, they're even worse here because half the time a misjump is death, which kinda screws the whole "Make 100,000 EXP without dying" achievement for me. Honestly, they're the worst part of the game. Guild Wars 2 - Raph589 - 2012-09-04 Corn Wrote:Stormbluff Isle (I'm guessing you already made your guy though). Plenty of people are still making the transition from XP to 7. Windows 8 is under widespread criticism and it's highly unlikely that you'll have a reason to switch to it right away. Unless you'll be developing Metro apps? I dunno. Dell is awful but HP isn't bad. I'm using a 2 year old, fairly low-end HP laptop (base price was about $500 at the time, with upgrades to processor and graphics card it cost around $700). Just shell out that extra $50-$100 for a decent graphics card and you should be good to go for running most games on low settings. The min specs for Guild Wars 2 are pretty low considering how good it looks and I can run it on medium-lowish settings without dropping any frames. Polantaris Wrote:Jump quests suck. I'd have to say that's just your opinion, because I rather enjoy them. They're usually a welcome break from the action. Some of them are pretty cleverly designed and it's fun to figure out how to get through them. I liked some of the jump quests in MS, but too often they relied on abusing invincibility frames and unintuitive knockback mechanics, which made them incredibly frustrating. The ones in this game are more like natural climbs and less like obstacle courses of death. Guild Wars 2 - kremechoko - 2012-09-05 Speaking of jump quests, did anyone do the one in Lion's arch, the bottom right corner where it leads to the cultural weapons vendor? Now THAT jump quest annoyed me. There's a part where it's pitch black. My friend was telling me on how to bring in some light with the torch on the ground but it didn't work. So I spent like 10 minutes in a pitch black screen jumping. There is another way you can brighten up the place, but it's kind of not a feature in the jump quest.

So I spent like 10 minutes in a pitch black screen jumping. There is another way you can brighten up the place, but it's kind of not a feature in the jump quest. I used a target circle to see the terrain when it was pitch black. I was expecting something difficult, but the only hard thing about it is not dying falling down the slide the first time around. Not sure if I should have bought a weapon at the end. Didn't really seem worthwhile for such a large amount of karma, especially since I've been running Scepter/Dagger, and I only have ~14k @ level 45. As for the 100k exp without dying, try getting it all/large amount from Craftsmanship. Guild Wars 2 - Berzerk - 2012-09-05 Been pretty much just been farming crap. I got to 400 Weaponsmithing and we got my friend to 400 jeweling, so we're pretty much just crafting stuff for each other and selling it in the market. We're both up to 10 gold now, which still doesn't feel like a lot. Guild Wars 2 - Polantaris - 2012-09-05 JoeTang Wrote:As for the 100k exp without dying, try getting it all/large amount from Craftsmanship. I was going to do that myself, but then I spent like 600-700 Copper on Weaponsmith just to get it to a mere Level 50....and then see I need...EVEN MORE Copper. Kinda killed all of enthusiasm for the Crafting system, at least while Copper is still insanely expensive. Considering how much you need of it, I doubt it will go down any time soon and I don't feel like starting another craft. Plus power leveling to 80 on crafting just seems completely boring. Honestly I don't hate all of them, but every time I run into a huge one that any mistake is either death or starting the entire thing over, it gives me a headache and frustrates me so much. Example: The one at The Breached Wall in the Lv.15-25 Charr starter area. I spent an hour on that thing, and ended up with such a migraine that I had to stop playing for hours. I was happy, enjoying the game, and having a blast minutes before I started it. That one in Lion's Arch isn't much better. It's not as bad in terms of jumping, but after getting all the way to the pitch black area, I was really annoyed when I saw that you needed a torch and...my class can't equip them. I grabbed the item torch on the ground only to have it expire before I got back to where I was. I didn't think of using the AoE skill placement circles to direct myself, but such a loophole shouldn't even be necessary. Neither should turning your Gamma up. It appears to me that you level crafting much faster when you actively discover recipes. I was spamming leather mask recipes for Leatherworking for about a point per mask, but then I decided to discover all the recipes available to me and I gained exp much faster. I was happy, enjoying the game, and having a blast minutes before I started it. The Breached Wall was a lot of fun for me. There were a bunch of people running through it at the same time as me, and none of us really knew how to get through it, so it took some trial and error. I liked that there were ghosts to fight along the way. I had to be careful with my Thief flips and dodges to avoid falling off. I didn't have such a hard time with it, though; I think it took me about 10-15 minutes once we figured out where the stairs were. Guild Wars 2 - DrRusty - 2012-09-05 i just had a warrior, tell me engis were OP in PvP... wtp!! I'm mad
Guild Wars 2 - SuperNerd - 2012-09-05 Wow, I didn't realize so many people had trouble with these jump quests. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I barely have any problems with these things. In fact, I actively seek them out because they're just so damn fun and exciting. I can't remember them all, but I've done... a lot of them. I think my favourite though has to be the one where you travel through Asura Gates to get to different parts of the jump quest, where new mechanics are introduced each time. The first one is wind blowing, second is lightning, third is snowy air and then at the end of most of them, there's a boss to fight, which is always fun. The only jump quest I had trouble with, I actually did last night--the one hidden in Gendarran Fields. At one point, you have to parkour around an area and light four torches, while also dealing with multiple hostile level 30 ghost pirates who constantly spam that rapid fire gun attack (and when there's 3 of them doing that, let's just say your HP drops to 0 in a matter of seconds), then once all four torches are lit, a Veteran appears and you also have to kill it, but if any of the torches burn out, he disappears and you have to do it all over again. Since I was the only one there, it isn't hard to guess that I died trying to do this and decided to call it quits after that (it was late anyways). Gonna get my friend to help me out this time tonight. We would have loved to join the Southperry guild, but we already chose a server to play on before we knew what server you guys would be on. Currently my Guardian is level 38, and I'm having a great time with him. I actually didn't really like Engineer that much, I just couldn't get into it. But I made a Ranger, and that has been my secondary character and I'm really enjoying him too--with my pet polar bear. I only completed 5/11 of the vistas in Lion's Arch, ha ha ha. Guild Wars 2 - Abrasive - 2012-09-05 I've only done 2 jump quests in Lion's Arch so far and they've both been pretty fun to do. A few friends have been saying that a certain jump quest in the sylvari place is really hard so im going to try it tonight |
