Nexon Marketing Research - Worthyness - 2009-03-09 Couldn't they just nerf the pendant down to 6-8 WAtk by server check or patch (please excuse my limited knowledge of the computer tech world)? Seduce + zombify would kill pretty much all the ranged classes on a monster that does 7.5k damage (magic or physical) which kinda sucks. I agree that Masteria has given the advantage to all Weapon attack classes and made everything a damage game, but i'm glad they decided to make HP on the pendant. That is my main reason for obtaining it, as it provides a way for me to HT (in a few more levels) without having to further bloodbuild my Bowmaster. I believe that the PQ should have a logic or puzzle stage to mess with people's minds. With that said: Untradeable pendants will turn this PQ into a business like Zak or HT. I'm sure this will happen anyway, but the untradeable pendant would certainly fuel that. Perhaps Nexon could have thought this out just a little more and gave unique equips for each boss that died (all classes can equip of course)? i.e. goggles from Rellik or a weapon from Hsalf. ON TOPIC: Nice biased sampleNexon. Couldn't they have just done a mass email to all accounts they have in their files? That would have been a more evenly distributed sample. They aren't going to nerf something already available to the public. Nexon Marketing Research - Shippo the Fox - 2009-03-09 Well, it did "rain tombstones" on that first run we did.
Nexon Marketing Research - Stereo - 2009-03-09 I think people are just throwing too much force at it, it may be a high level PQ but that doesn't mean full 15x+ parties will have difficulty with it. It's not so easy with 110-130 chars. (how many bowmen? maybe 5 or 6 would do it?) Nexon Marketing Research - IsaacGS - 2009-03-09 DrRusty Wrote:Well it doesn't have to be harder, but a bit more of a challenge I think. They could have upped the damage of the bosses by like 1k. Maybe made one of the bosses seduceI'm really sick of the "lol increase damage". That in no way increases the difficulty, it just forces the minimum level of useful players up to an amount where very few people can actually take part in it, and that's stupid. It's bad enough that the minimum level is 90 and archers don't stand a chance until at least 12x (and the only reason I can even do this is Nexon America's wondrous HP equips like Bosshunter and Sherrif badge). Nexon Marketing Research - Sn1perJohnE - 2009-03-09 HAHA im seriously like 1 mile from not being in LA county >_> So i just sent in my email, but i might not get chosen, id have to have a time window in which I would need to be off line to receive the call X_X (i bet im the only dial up player <_<) so who knows, maybe they will send me an email Thursday with a time when they will call me on Friday. Nexon Marketing Research - Venison! - 2009-03-09 Lol at biased sampling. Eh, you know what's going to happen. A bunch of enthusiastic 13 year olds are going to get involved. I mean people criticize the NX whores, but they are the ones that Nexon WANTS to talk to and get information about so they can attract more of them. They aren't going to tell Nexon, "BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!1 LESS HACKS!!!1" because most of them don't encounter these problems. Lots of people complain about customer service issues ... but a lot more don't coz they never encounter problems. These sorts of forums attract the people who are more interested in the game than the average player. Nexon Marketing Research - IllegallySane - 2009-03-09 It's only easy for you guys Rusty because your group is organized and leet. ![]() And let's be fair, we all had a head start figuring out what the hell to do for the PQ because data for the bosses had already been unpacked. People already started developing a game plan before the actual fight began. I'm very sure that if the CWKPQ data was not previewed, there WILL be tombstones raining down. The biggest bugger would have been Zombify, because people will keep wondering why the hell they died so fast. 1. WHY DID I DIE?! I HAD 20K HP! ![]() 2. WHY DID I DIE AFTER I PRESSED HEAL?! ![]() 3. Whoooa! Which boss was doing the 1/1??! 4. WHY IS THIS BOSS MOVING SO DAMN FAST?! 5. WHY MY POWER ELIXIR HEAL HAF HP?! Face it, those that succeeded their runs on day 1 already had the answers to these questions and more. It's the equivalent of giving the plans to the Death Star to the Rebels, or handing over the strategy guide. ![]() I'm sure it'd had taken a few more days for a run to succeed if the information didn't get leaked out, and there would have definitely been tons more tombstones raining from the sky until then.
Nexon Marketing Research - Phoenix - 2009-03-10 IllegallySane Wrote:It's only easy for you guys Rusty because your group is organized and leet. I agree, even with all that info out. The random groups I went with the 1st day before I got glicthed still managed to kill themselves. You can't honestly say HT is that hard either...when you have it figured out to a routine. Seriously, after the legs/tail is down, you can do it blindfolded. With the fastest runs in GMS already being 34-29min, it's not too hard =P Nexon Marketing Research - IllegallySane - 2009-03-10 Phoenix Wrote:I agree, even with all that info out. Hell, even Pink Been can not be considered hard since it's more of a DPS race than anything (with a brutal twist of survivability for ranged). I actually believe that this CWKPQ boss fight is the most complex of them all. It actually requires people to do something other than dealing damage (pinning down 2-3 of the Grandmasters at specific sides while ranged DPS burns down the Mage). Nexon Marketing Research - WillDaSnail - 2009-03-10 Even though I live in SoCal (in LA county), hell no I'm not doing this. >_> Nexon Marketing Research - Darklai - 2009-03-10 Guys, I'm no mod or anything, but chill on the PQ stuff. It's getting annoying reading it everywhere and it makes reading any thread impossible without digging through useless posts towards the main topic. Roar. /rant Anyhow, I honestly wish I could participate in this interview. I have a good way with wording my stuff and I'd be clear as to what I believe could be done for improvement. But alas... I'm 4 hours away from LA, past a country borderline even. Suuuuuuuuuuucks. Someone please do this and give us some inside info. (; Nexon Marketing Research - DrRusty - 2009-03-10 IsaacGS Wrote:I'm really sick of the "lol increase damage". If it brings you from being able to take 2 hits down to only being able to take 1 hit, then that makes the fight harder. And so what if it makes people have to level up higher to be able to take a hit in the fight? The minimum level for zakum is level 50.... The minimum level for horntail is level 80..... Why should this PQ be any exception for min level limit? You're not going to bring a lvl 50 to zakum and you're not going to bring a lvl 80 to horntail. Same thing as not bringing a lvl 90 to this PQ. Hell... Even APQ is level 50. There's not a lvl 50 out there who can take on geist. How many 12x people do you see brought to horntail as an attacker? zero... If this thing gives a reward BETTER than horntail, then it should be AT LEAST as hard. If not harder. That's BS that it just made horntail obsolete. "Ohh but Rusty, Horntail drops skill books" The majority of profit in a horntail run is selling the pendants. The skill books and drops go to covering the apples. If they took out the pends and only kept the bonus stage then i wouldn't bash this PQ so much. That reward is overkill though. Especially for such an easy ass boss fight. NOT TO MENTION IT'S FKING TRADEABLE. YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO GO TO THE FIGHT TO GET THE PENDANTS. THAT'S STUPID. Regular MSer- "I earned my pendant by setting up my own run!!" Lazy ass MSer- "I just used my mom's credit card to buy gach. Then I bought leech and went to FM and bought my pendant ".Add in seduce + bring up all damage (normal and physical up) by 1k, to keep all the noob/lower levels from mass gathering these pends. A group of 12x can farm these pends with a few apples...... that's just dumb. This game is too easy sometimes, and I was hoping for something that was finally a challenge. I don't understand why all of you keep asking for shiet to be handed to you, and for everything to be easy/easier. It's already bad enough that we can just sit on a rope to level 140+ and level faster than actually working. Now what? "NEXON MAKE IT MOAR EAZIER FOR US PL0X". Gimme a fkin break. I guess i'll have to wait for pink been to get the challenge i've been hoping for. That fight definently doesn't look like it'll dissapoint me. I'm frustrated because NXProse talked about how difficult this PQ was going to be. I had formed my own party with a group of random people, figured out the PQ, and killed the boss, in about 2 and a half hours after the patch ended. Shippo the Fox Wrote:Well, it did "rain tombstones" on that first run we did. That's only because no one knew zombify couldn't be seen, and the bishops ended up killing half the run. That's only because zak and horntail are limited in ch's. This PQ is available in every channel, allowing everyone an equal opportunity to take down the PQ. Wow that was a long post :f6:. Nexon Marketing Research - Stereo - 2009-03-10 What a shame, you can't sell pendants for 700mil anymore to make massive profit because anybody can get them. For the majority of players this is a good thing >_< Nexon Marketing Research - DrRusty - 2009-03-10 Stereo Wrote:What a shame, you can't sell pendants for 700mil anymore to make massive profit because anybody can get them. It's not about selling pendants...... it's about an easier boss fight giving a better reward. If Nexon opened Horntail up in every ch, do you think anyone would try to take him down? No they wouldn't. Horntail is much harder than this easy ass fight. You can't take a bunch of random people and kill him because he requires a lot of coordination and team work. I took down this boss with RANDOM people and no apples.... How the fk does that merit a better reward? Like i said before "NEXON MAKE IT MOAR EAZIER FOR US PL0X" It's a good thing for the majority of players because the majority of players like to having everything handed to them on a silver platter. Give this thing a month, and people will be selling 12 atk pendants for 50 mil. Just like how zakum helm got itself reduced to crap. There's no personal value in it anymore. Only difference is that this thing is going to take itself down and bring horntail along with it. Nexon Marketing Research - Orit - 2009-03-10 Rusty, you have to understand that Nexon doesn't really know how this game is played. I think they really believed this PQ would be worth its awesome rewards. Their GMs don't know how to play the level-200 characters they're given for the testing, not even as well as the randoms you picked up for your first run. So, for example, they may have tried fighting all the bosses simultaneously, instead of having them Rushed apart and dealt with one by one. What they're saying now, that they knew it would be easy but wanted to get a way to advance the low-fourth people, sounds ridiculous. If all they wanted was to get more skillbooks and e-wands and other great weapons out there, they could just increase their drop rate or add drop locations for them. Or even make the Gold Boxes a permanent feature and put everything in there. Adding a PQ is a very roundabout way of going about it. @IllegalySane: While it's true that if the boss data hadn't been extracted and distributed, we'd have had alot more raining tombstones, eventually people would figure it out. And then it would become too easy. What can be done now? It's too late to nerf the pendants or make them untradeable. It is possible to reduce their drop rate - only come from the last boss to be killed - or make a ppq-style way of earning them (require multiple successful runs). This wouldn't stop the lazy rich from getting one, but it would increase the price so that not everyone would have one. It's also possible to increase the difficulty, as suggested. I think merely adding more HP or greater damage would make it harder, but in a boring way. It would be more interesting to give the bosses another skill or two (what if Margana teleports?) so as to test not just our HP-Washing abilities but also our strategy and reflexes. However, the best solution, in my mind, would be to implement the next two upgrades of the HT pendant. Clean HTP may be inferior to Naricain, but HTP(+3) should be made so much more awesome that people would still have a reason to hunt HornTail. Nexon Marketing Research - Deviant - 2009-03-10 Rusty makes a valid point, it does really make Horntail practically obsolete, and the Horntail pendant as well, I've never been rich in Maplestory, but even I can see that having bosses weaker than HT dropping a pendant better than HT is pretty unfair, they need to make it untradeable at the very least. If you've ever played a ranged class, you know that fighting something that takes 2 hits to kill you is no more difficult than fighting something that takes 5 hits to kill you. It just changes the frequency of pot consumption. Orit Wrote:However, the best solution, in my mind, would be to implement the next two upgrades of the HT pendant. I don't really think fixing broken with MORE BROKEN is the best way to go... Nexon Marketing Research - Shippo the Fox - 2009-03-10 Adding the second slot to the HT pendant is fine enough.
