I feel that the change to drop tables was intended. You can see that they drop nebulite boxes still, I still haven't seen a cube drop off anything.

After looking at the Codex, they pretty much made it that high level monsters don't drop low level equipment. Granted, they did miss a few, but for the most part it was reduced.
