If we had the money (which we don't right now, so I chose none), I'd own a Wii U while my lady would have the PS4. Neither of us are going anywhere near the Xbox One.

Not worth the price for the game selection at the moment, plain and simple. will get a Ps4 once it gets close to Kingdom hearts and final fantasy release dates.

I have a Wii U, purely because of Monster Hunter. It paid for itself(Over 400 hours on MH3U), so I'm not upset, I just wish the system had....more games.

My next generation console selection will be based on whichever gets a genuinely good Strategic/Tactical RPG.

Now-generation consoles - FlameChocobo - 2014-02-06

I only have the Wii U right now, with about 20ish Games for it.

I will be getting the PS4 once it brings in any of the games that interest me (Namely the Japanese titles.) XBox One? Not worth buying IMO, even if it does have games that interest me.

None for now. Too expensive is one factor, another factor is whatever DRM shenanigans (I have not even researched anything about said consoles, so this may come off as ignorant) might be there. The time that I will be considering it is when let's say Disgaea 6 or something comes out and it really does require a PS4 or something, to which it should be at least an affordable price then.

So the common notion here is hurr durr no now-gen console haz gaems. Gotcha.

And I'm waiting for SSB on the Wii U before getting one. It better be around by the time income tax season is done...

Now-generation consoles - EmpireSun - 2014-02-09

I will eventually start saving to get a Wii U when Nintendo announces an estimate date for Hyrule Warriors and/or when they give us some more info regarding Zelda Wii U.

Now-generation consoles - Declaimed - 2014-02-09

I will get a Wii U when I can get it under $150 without the gamepad. I'd take it used, so long as its in working condition. It would just end up being a Smash Bros machine for me, so I'd rather not spend too much.

You kinda need the Gamepad for the Wii U. Not all games need it, but the console itself does.

So never.
They're not going to retroactively patch a years+(or the UI for that matter) worth of games to not require the gamepad.

How many of them require the gamepad in such a way thats critical to the gameplay? From the rumors I've been hearing, not even Nintendo has been able to come up with a suitable use for the thing. I'm sure that a patch for it isn't coming anytime soon, and I wouldn't expect it to; But, this being the world of videogame consoles in which everything eventually gets cracked, jailbroken, modded or otherwise: I'm sure that eventually, possibly several years down the road, there will be a way to play Wii U titles with a standard controller (and especially so given the circumstances of its predecessor in this regard).

I've heard that one of Nintendo's upcoming titles, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, goes so far as to turn the screen on the gamepad off while the game is playing. No, really. With that sort of dedication, I wouldn't be surprised.

I plan on getting a PS4 for Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy XV and the countless other exclusives that the playstation will get that the Xbox simply will not.

Speaking of exclusives, I might get a Wii-U eventually... if only for Super Smash Bros and ESPECIALLY Bayonetta 2.

Are you sure that KHIII isn't coming to the X1? I'm not a KH "fan" (I've never played any of the KH games), but from what I've been reading on the other message boards I go to, its supposed to be multiplat from what I hear (well, X1/PS4 anyway, no PC).

Now-generation consoles - Ryukiroku - 2014-02-11

Both Final Fantasy 15 and KH3 are coming to X1 been known since after Nomura showed it at E3:

Now-generation consoles - Razmos - 2014-02-11

Oh, I didn't know that... regardless, If I had a choice between PS4 and Xbone, I'd choose PS4 for the same reason, it has far better exclusives.

Now-generation consoles - Remoir - 2014-02-11

I just have Wii U for now. When JRPGs and stuff i like come to PS4 i'll end up getting one but for now i'll stick with PS3

I didn't say they couldn't, I said they won't.

One game not using it isn't going to make a difference to the 100 something others that do use it in some manner.

Games as recently as 3D world literally can't be played without a gamepad as player one, and this isn't a rare thing on the U.

Not many developers have implemented the gamepad in a worthwhile way, from what I hear. Of course, I'm also open to this: https://twitter.com/delroth_/status/332179135411654656

Wii U gamepad emulation on PC. The buttons can be controlled with a 360 controller, and screentaps with the mouse. Hope it goes public eventually; I saw a nice Wii U sans-gamepad for around $120 on ebay the other day. If the gamepad is doing as poorly as people say that it is, and it truly is just a minimap/inventory accessory, then I could definitely live with just emulating one and skipping out on the few games that make heavy use of its unique capabilities (in ways other than the ones previously mentioned, as again, I can live without if all its going to be is a minimap).

Still waiting for interesting games.

If Final Fantasy XV follows XIV, PS4 has less pull, but Sony usually manage to give us some interesting titles at least.

If the next Zelda is going to be another pomegranateward Sword, Wii U aint going to tickle me the right way. I am actually tired of Mario in all his newer versions, with the possible exception of Kart.

Microsoft has nothing to offer, as always.

Do note that this is not a summary of the general qualities of the consoles, just my taste in the matter.
The prices need to drop a lot before I'd buy one anyway.
