Heroes of the Storm [Cinematic Trailer] - Words - 2014-03-14

I think I'll give it more time before watching or getting into it, if beta and release sound better I wouldn't mind playing it when I don't feel like playing Dota. So far it looks kinda "meh" to me. I mean it's wow and diablo characters but other than that I see nothing interesting.
The only thing that's a real turn down for me is the fact that characters must be purchased, even if prices get lower by release I wouldn't play it all.

Every other MMOPG out there that's 3D, with just a few exceptions, are WoW clones. I only know of GW2 and I guess there might be more that are different, but I'd somewhat agree with that statement.

I don't think it's a let down. What were people's expectations for this game? I mean, Malthe's post in previous page pretty much explains what the game's about (casual and non-competitive) and it looks just like that right now. If you mean gameplay, it's only Alpha and I sure hope it'll look better in the future.

I mean typical blizzard games were pay for game and the rest is free. Only one that doesn't follow as far as I know is WoW because its subscription based with microtransactions. Buying characters for money is meh.

Too many people are under the impression that you can only buy the heroes with RL money.
The "Free rotation" is exactly like LoL and I'm ok with that. The in-game currency, "Gold", seems really easy to acquire from the streams I've watched so I can't imagine it taking long to get all the heroes.

I wasn't trying to say the game is identical, but they are clearly targeting a similar audience with a similar product and presumably similar business model. Any or all of this could change by the time it hits release and it doesn't even have to compete on LoL's level to be a successful product, but they are obviously trying to compete for the same market share.
