Keiji Inafune's "Spiritual Successor" to Megaman: Mighty No.9 on Kickstarter! - Netto - 2013-09-06 Only $500,000 more until we see this on consoles! Donate people! I know I will when I get my paycheck from work \o/ Keiji Inafune's "Spiritual Successor" to Megaman: Mighty No.9 on Kickstarter! - Dark Link - 2013-09-06 The "MightyCast No. 1" podcast is pretty cool. Keiji Inafune's "Spiritual Successor" to Megaman: Mighty No.9 on Kickstarter! - Justin - 2013-09-06 I'm so glad Keiji is taking matters into his own hands and is reviving megaman in a sense... words cannot describe my feels right now. I fucking grew up on this franchise, and I've been itching for a new game (a MODERN ONE, not this 9 and 10 bullshit) for years and years. Keiji Inafune's "Spiritual Successor" to Megaman: Mighty No.9 on Kickstarter! - CarrionCrow - 2013-09-07 All in all it looks amazing, but I do not really like the Astro boy meets Mega man character design. It will be cool, possibly revolutionary, but it wont be Mega man. Kinda weird you say that considering Megaman was partially based off Astro Boy. ![]() The point is that it isn't SUPPOSED to be Megaman. Megaman is Megaman, but this is essentially like an "alternate universe" Megaman if you want to look at it that way. No.9 is supposed to represent Megaman only in spirit, not supposed to be the new thing that "replaces him". Keiji even stated in an interview that he hopes Megaman games will continue to come out so both characters can live on, especially for the fans who'd like more and more of this genre. Keiji Inafune's "Spiritual Successor" to Megaman: Mighty No.9 on Kickstarter! - Netto - 2013-09-12 Just broke the $2,000,000 milestone! That includes a Boss Rush Mode! $200,000 until PS3/XBOX360/WiiU ! And yes, that does NOT seem to be a typo. They really do mean PS3 and 360 as seen in this latest milestone chart update.

I was starting to wonder what happened to the megaman series. Keiji Inafune's "Spiritual Successor" to Megaman: Mighty No.9 on Kickstarter! - IllegallySane - 2013-09-12 I'm hoping here Capcom doesn't do anything to this project. Hopefully they're at least savvy enough to know that trying to shut down this project will only piss off Capcom fans even more. Keiji Inafune is not a stupid man, given that he created Megaman I am sure he knows the details of the copyright when it comes to design and such. And a video game with a blue robot killing 8 other robots is a pretty vague thing to copyright. Keiji Inafune's "Spiritual Successor" to Megaman: Mighty No.9 on Kickstarter! - byakugan - 2013-09-17 It sucks megaman is my favorite fictional character, yet I can't help this cause one bit for many reasons. On a side note though, you might hate me for saying this but I am a bit skeptical of Inafune's capabilities of making a great megaman / mighty game. I am pretty sure that Megaman Universe's terrible impression on the comunity had to do with Capcom's decision to put the franchise on hiatus, which was a game Inafune was leading. Also for a lot of people Megaman was goind down a slope in its lasts games (not for me though, I sure enjoyed 9, 10 ZX and ZXA). I hope this time away from the franchise has brought new fresh ideas into him that can make this into a huge success, because after this huge backup from the comunity there definitely wont be a second chance if it disappoints. I also can't help but feel some of those millestones are only there as fillers. Mac/Linux versions? Documentary?... Back to the design. I like Beck's design but I really hope that's some sort of battle suit he can take off. I think one of Megaman's charms was that he looked like a human child in a costume, something we could relate too, which was also backed up by his capabilty of having feelins. This designs looks way too robotic for my liking but seeing the other girl's designs gives me a bit of hope. Capcom had a hand in a lot of the Megaman games starting pretty early on. It doesn't matter who leads a project or not if the publisher is controlling the lead. That's why Inafune left to begin with. byakugan Wrote:Back to the design. I like Beck's design but I really hope that's some sort of battle suit he can take off. And it kinda has no ground considering starting with X he became much more machine than human and the X series was very popular. It isn't about the look, it's about the personality. I am pretty sure Capcom top brass doesn't have to do in the design of a game other than setting limits for it, as in the amount of money they are fudingin it with and the times they want to see results at. They have their own directors and hired studios, all they really care is the results. Inafune had been one I am sure they didn't tell him "hey, make a megaman game thats basically a remake of megaman 2 but in a Miiverse graphic style". 案山子 Wrote:I've never heard of people "relating" to Megaman. Relating was the wrong word to use. I meant wanting to be like megaman, fighting big bad robots, stealing their powers, saving the day. I'm sure many kids did that. You're right about the X series though (I think the only human ever present in it was the one that put Zero back together). But aside from everything else he still looked a lot human (which was the point for being a reploid). |
