You underestimate the idiocy of the average youtube comment section.

Episode 4 for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
The First Step

RWBY - MariettaRC - 2013-08-09

Ooh, this is getting fun.

Jean (??) is second-hand embarrassment galore, though. Also, gee, I wonder who Ruby will end up with? /sarcasm

Of course, that could just be what everyone expects and they end up doing something completely different.

RWBY - CakesXD - 2013-08-09

I'm loving this series, started following it when Niernen posted that thread about Maple needing a Pirate like Yang.

I just wish the episodes weren't so short. I really start getting into it right when the episode is close to ending. Hurt

Dark Link Thank ya, kind sir.

Least the next episode we'll finally see more of that sexy combat animation.

That's what I thought about episode 4...

This will be a pretty epic watch in a few months from now when I can sit down and watch them back to back. The way it is now though has me starved every week for scraps.

That was a really short episode. Rolleyes

Landing strategies were pretty cool (lol Yang), and Weiss seems like she's starting to warm up to Ruby, if only a little bit.

Where the heck is Blake?

RWBY - MariettaRC - 2013-08-16

Poor Jaun (how do you spell his name oh my god), at least he got landed with someone cool. What an awful cliffhanger, though. ;_;

Five minutes is TOO SHOOOORT. /whinesaftersayingit'sokay

Five minutes? I wish, it was 3 minutes. Three minutes...... Too short, honestly not a lot happened. We already kinda new some of the teams from the full opening credits, so not much new really.

RWBY - Mute - 2013-08-21

There had BETTER be some intense fight scene this episode. I mean I want something that will make my jaw drop.
EPIC CROSS-TEAM TEAM UPS!

Why can't anime be considered an art style? Generally when an animation uses a style similar to anime they usually also carry all the other elements natural to an anime apart from regular cartoons (huge budget. mature plot, elaborated dialogues and soundtrack and such). Just saying anime is an animation made in Japan sounds superficial to me.

I don't see why would Japan have a problem with the term anime trascending to englobe high level animations, nor I see any chance anyone could say other countries are stealing Japan's culture, the only show from the west I would catalog anime is Avatar so far

Considering what makes an anime based on the art style is dumb. That would mean that Panty & Stocking and The Tatami Galaxy aren't anime.
Basing it on "mature plot, elaborated dialogues" is also dumb. That would mean K-ON and Lucky Star aren't anime.
Finally, the west has way higher budgets than Japan, so that point is invalid.

Japan obviously doesn't have a problem with the term "anime" being used for international animation, but we're not in Japan. "Anime" comes from "animation". In Japanese, it's literally just the word for cartoons. We use the term to refer to Japanese animation because always saying "Japanese animation" is too much of a hassle and "Japanimation" just sounds silly.

Anyways, OT:
The pacing is reaaaally slow. I don't actually mind that much, but I wonder how many episodes this will end up with.

Episode 6, link for the lazy

boop

RWBY - Niernen - 2013-08-22

Dont mess with Yang's hair.

RWBY - MariettaRC - 2013-08-22

Pink hair streak guy and sloth lady are my favorites now.

RWBY - Polantaris - 2013-08-22

Happy that episode wasn't 3 minutes long like the last one....that was disappointing (the length of the episode).

This episode was great.

RWBY - ShinkuDragon - 2013-08-22

i might just break my vow and watch this as it airs, it's an episode every specific amount of time?

RWBY - Niernen - 2013-08-22

Definitely one of the better ones, actual combat, teams, and other cool stuff. I wonder how they will use the students they dont follow as much (the main 8 for now)
