Shads cap at 70m by the way. Epic adv (+5m), nate hyper (bring to 60m), flip of coin (+5m).

Oooh that is a good point. I totally forgot about those.
It still stands that a DB has higher damage with over 100% boss, though.

Point is both your initial conclusion of the match up being even is correct and your point about DBs being less limited by damage cap is not.

Burst damage in the form of asura is unfortunately too good for current bossing schemes and shadowers can't technically compete with that from a utility standpoint.

'Equalising' stats is easier said than done. As you move into higher funding brackets, the variation only gets bigger. It's much easier to measure relative strengths of classes without funding bias. If you can find an exact 1:1 copy of a DB and Shadower with all other factors considered, then you can be my guest.

Ontopic: Forget about Shadowers. They are a gimmicky class and extremely annoying to play with all the limitations and artificial conditions required to reproduce the paper numbers. A DB can stay competitive in all bossing scenarios.

Tell me if im doing this right:

Assuming Shad its 70mill cap:

From JoeTang's chart, shads can either hit 9.23 times/sec or 16.78 times/sec.

test time will be 1 minute. 16.78*60 = 1006.8 hits/min
1006.8*70,000,000 = 7.0476E10 (We use most attacks per sec to calculate max dmg)

So taking that as "max" theoretical damage

DBs: 24.48 hits /sec.
24.48*60 = 1468.8 hits/min

7.0476E10/1468.8 = dmg needed to match shads --> 47,982,026.14

Well under the 55mill cap.

Conclusion: Under massive MASSIVE funding, DBs still out DPM shads.

Does the math check out?

Can someone validate this math please?

Thanks!

Some finer points not yet mentioned. In my experience with both Shadower and DB (neither are my main) I tend to like Shadower more for two main reasons:

The First:
They're quirks in the shadower skills that, while not overtly over powered, are helpful and interesting. For example: Steal (your main aoe skill early on) has three parts to it, that none of which are dependent on the other. The item drop chance, and the stun chance are not dependent on accuracy or dealing damage. I have experienced misses where the creature is caused to be stunned, and drop an item.
This has proven more than useful in a varied set of circumstances during my play. (Monster Carnival PQ [when it was running] farming items off of things more than 40 levels above me, etc)

The Second:
While a DB (if you possess the proper skill books) chain chain its skills for damage, it lacks any passing illusion of survivability. Where as the Shadower gets both Shield Mastery (100%) and should you choose to use it, Meso Guard (which reduces damage at a meso rate that is more efficient than potions).

That said, my Main is Paladin, so my bias to defense may be noted.

However, as an aside, it's been my experience that Steal is surprisingly good for farming mesos. Even better than the now removed meso up of the Night Lord.
