About keyboard layout, It's pretty easy to have a decent keyboard layout if you're not using ALT to jump. I honestly don't know how people can play like that Tongue. All of my skills are done with my left hand, including loot/jump/potting. My right hand is ONLY for moving (I play on a laptop so End, PG down, PG up, Delete, etc are not close to my right hand anyway).

And.. they're "sort of" similar to a shadower I guess.. They're alot slower in attacks and movement though. Brawlers are really their own class though.

I'm not a Brawler, but on all my characters I have ALT set to jump and my left hand rests over ASDF, so I have access to about 15 keys, plus ~12345. My thumb is basically held under my other fingers. My hand tends to close, not open, so I'm perfectly comfortable with my thumb resting in a semi-unnatural position. Also, the spacebar is just way too huge for me to want to use that as my jump button. Especially since I'd be constantly blasting it from one end.

This is approximately what my keyboard looks like, except the section with ENTER and backslash, and Alt Gr, and the fact that I popped out all the keys and rearranged them when I was learning Dvorak. My right hand has access to Ctrl, Shift, End, and Pg Down very easily for potting.

I think you meant, as long as you're not using a modified default layout, because my layout works perfectly fine.

kinda use to all the skills, having a Bowmaster. I'm gonna have trouble placing all of these xD

I use shift to jump, ctrl to loot. so yeah. Little limited on my button placement. I'll end up using probably the middle of my keyboard for Transformation time and the left side for normal training. it may be a little hard to get used to tho =(

I keep my hand set just as if I were typing. Pinky on A all the way to pointer finger on F.

Whenever I need ALT and spacebar, I use my thumb for it.

They're not, that's not my keyboard. It's just a picture of a laptop that's the same model as mine for some other country where they type with QWERTZ. My keyboard layout looks like this:

I have never seen the y and z switched in the US. only in germany, where Z is a more commonly used letter then Y.

Mine is a lot like yours, but opposite.
The attacks go on the right part of my hand (pointer, middle, and ring finger) while I use my pinky for other stuff (loot, mostly, but I have a pet now so go figure)

Imagine I'll be putting DU down to like X or something, and put all my 3rd job skills on QWER.

I'll reserve W, E, R, T for attacks, maybe Q as well, and I like the idea of having Alt as an attacking button too.

Not really. I can still QWERTY at a decent ~60 wpm.

It does temporarily kill them, though. That is, if you want to learn properly.

This doesn't seem that far-off from my NL's config. On a Night Lord, I use QWERTY, ASDFGH, ZXCV. Z being pick-up. Everything else are skills. It's not going to be too much of a problem for me, trust me on this. On Bishop, I used QWERTY for buffs instead of attacks though.

PS: But, as for pots, my N and M = pots, for some odd reason. Both of my hands reacts pretty fast, so I had no problem potting with my left and/or right hand at times.

I type at a constant ~80 WPM regardless of which layout I use. There was a period for about a week after I spent 3~4 weeks getting my WPM up to ~60 where I completely forgot how to type in QWERTY, but it picked back up after playing MS and typing in QWERTY :\ It really depends on how often you use either one. I naturally type in Dvorak, but switch when playing games, mostly. It takes a second for my brain to switch into typing the other way.

Why do you have to switch? o-o Mine works fine without having to switch.
I don't really want to rearrange my in-game keys to match the actual state of my keyboard. Especially since I run three mules for my guild, and share two other accounts. It would confuse the hell out of both me and anyone trying to rearrange the keys.

In any case, Ctrl-Shift is all I have to do to switch.

What's the problem? I use Dvorak and it's never done anything to the keyboard layout. The key settings go to the exact same buttons as they're shown as ingame. It's not like you have to find where ; is on qwerty, then put loot there so that it's still the bottom left key. You just put it on Z and when you're using Dvorak you press ; to use it.


On the other hand, Ctrl+Shift won't even work for me ingame, MS is blocking it or something. It will only use the default keyboard layout (which is obv. Dvorak).

Hm, must just be a difference in hardware or software, or whatever. When I play Starcraft, it reads directly from the keyboard, so if functions like you said. But when I play MS, I have to switch it.
