First episode was too grimdark even for me, honestly. Rather than being exciting, it was just plain depressing. Good animation, but...if I wanted to feel the crushing weight of an unchanging, oppressive, depressing collective entity that is a force of nature in and of itself, I would go outside and deal with other people.

I'm not sure what were you expecting though considering the first episode completely shatters a hundred years of peace.

Nah, that's not what I meant. And, I wouldn't call that peace; the kid was right, merely existing is pointless. Still, animated, it's a lot different from what I expected from the few chapters of the manga I've read.

It depends on how you define peace. Peace wasn't what Eren saw because he believed peace only exists when there's no enemies left and the humans are free to go anywhere they like while almost everyone else was content to embrace peace as ignorance of the destruction that would happen if the Titans ever broke through.

Of course I'd also expect it being animated only serves to drive the point in even faster. There's no peace, just one long moment in which humans could believe there ever was any since the Titans appeared.

Quote:Anime scriptwriter Noboru Takagi (Baccano!, Durarara!!, Kuroko's Basketball) revealed after the first Attack on Titan episode aired on Saturday that he personally wrote episodes 8, 12, 13, 19, 21, and 22 — thus revealing indirectly that the weekly anime will last at least half a year or two cours (kūru).

Sounds good to me. Kind of interested in what appears to be original episodes not from the source material.

GG is subbing it, just in case anyone's curious.

Looks amazing.

I have watched a tiny bit of the first episode since then I got hooked. Watched all four episodes so far.
The art style is different.. but I think it suits well for this anime. One problem I currently have is that the main character Eren SHOUTS TOO MUCH.

There are 25 episodes confirmed and the manga is a monthly release, does that mean the anime will eventually catch up?
Will it have an anime original ending since the manga is still ongoing?

Episode 5 has been released today.

Aw, episode 5 was so censored, but i guess that was expected.
A lot less CHOMP.

It's the beginning of a new meme.
Shingeki no Kyojin OP theme goes with everything.

So I watched the episodes and was kind of annoyed by the screaming, read all 45 chapters. The story is just so...everywhere. Almost all the characters you're introduced are imediately killed off or are villains. I'm curious of where the logic is going but as of right now I'm pretty much confused more than anything.

Shingeki no Kyojin thread - CommanderJinn - 2013-05-06

I think Shengeki no Kyojin is a series that takes advantage of the monthly serialization format. I feel it reads less well if you read all the chapters at one go. The story is really rushed if you don't let things sink in after each chapter. From what I understand, the time frame after the time skip is very very short.

Stumbled across this. I knew a live action was in the works but seeing this just has me so hyped.

This is the only anime I've watched for almost 10 years now, why do they have to make something so awesome a 5 year long wait? I dont really believe that more years will mean the work is better done (just look at diablo 3), 3 years would be enough imo.

It's not real. It's created by a designer. The live action movie is planned in Fall of 2013 or later.

Live action movie is expected to land in 2014 barring any production hell.
