The game itself needs some buffs. - MorbidMagus - 2012-12-02 Five Second Pose Wrote:I doubt it was intended, but I was just clarifying that it's not lag, it's a different bug. Every since Tempest I literally have to hold "up" for 3 seconds to get through a portal. It could be my internet is pomegranate at times, but many people are having the same issue. My biggest problem is the Town Lag. I was beginning to think I was the only one who got that. It's especially bad in Leafre. The game itself needs some buffs. - aznbluejay - 2012-12-02 I'm not even sure if the portal issues are unintentional. They also screwed over the dialogue hotkeys, where pressing "Y" would answer "yes" to quest offers. Now it pushes "decline" so you actually have to use your mouse to press "accept." Not many people used that option, but it's so aggravating how they changed something that wasn't broken. The portals and ropes might be a similar "I'm just here to take away your convenience" thing. The game itself needs some buffs. - Killmeplsok - 2012-12-02 bast963 Wrote:I believe most of these are issues exclusive for the GMS client. I've used GMS, MSEA, KMS, CMS and TWMS client so far and the one which take up most memory is GMS which could go over 1GB easily while it's 70 MB minimum and 400~500 MB max for other clients. *I'm running MSEA at 75MB memory now. Client start up time also SIGNIFICANTLY longer using the GMS client. Map portal lag and skill lag, exclusive to GMS as well, don't know about others as they don't have Tempest yet but KMS did not have that. Town lag, an old issue to GMS, not sure why they still haven't get rid of it yet but no town in KMS lags me, nor MSEA, CMS and TWMS. Unexplained crashing, okay this is debatable, but I do crash much more while playing GMS compare to other region's MS. KMS does not crash me at all so far. MSEA crashes occasionally but whenever I crash I know what I did that crashed it, CMS and TWMS crashes too but far lesser compare to GMS. tl;dr, GMS client sucks. I use arrow keys to get through all the chats; when there is an option for Next I press Enter, when it's Accept or Decline I press -> for Accept or <- for Decline then Enter, when I want to End Conversation I press Esc. The only time I've used the Y button is when I needed to get into a PQ before someone else, like Auto-Clicker. I know having to actually wait .3 more seconds to accept/finish a quest is unacceptable to some people, but it suits my needs, just as long as I don't have to use the mouse, which requires me to use bigger muscles and move my hand all of 10 inches total. TEN INCHES, can you believe how outrageous the removal of the Y button has made this game? Same here, except for how long maple takes to load, but that is probably due to the age of my computer. At the channel 1 free market Enterance in Scania it's 5~8% CPU and rising from 640,000K memory. Could anyone compare these places to KMS? If you're in Full Screen from the last time you played, that's just awful...You basically lose control of your computer for two minutes. How much is "Boatload"? My computer has 8GB of RAM and I get all of these lag + crash issues. My computer has 8GB of RAM and I get all of these lag + crash issues. I have 16GB DDR3 (Or is it SDDR3? I forget the terms now-a-days) physical memory, and I dedicate 5% of my harddrive as virtual RAM (50GB, it used to be 10% of my HD, but 100GB seems unnecessary). I have absolutely no lag issues outside of the first time a skill is used, due to it having to be loaded, and the startup lag from hell. Outside of that my game is smooth. I have no portal lag, and even mass players in the FM loads pretty quickly, although to expect that to be instant is foolish because of how many different skins it has to load at once. If everything above outside of the startup lag is what's being complained about, then there's really no complaint here. That's just what happens. Expecting every single animation and every single character skin/armor piece/whatever to be loaded at startup is asking them to waste way too much memory for things that may/likely will never be needed. Specifically running a high quality defrag on the Maple folder after a patch can also help, if you run on a HDD. TEN INCHES, can you believe how outrageous the removal of the Y button has made this game? The problem is not the muscles, it's the attention. Like, take now. I just accepted the mesoranger General's 3 "kill 200 mobs" quests. For the umpteenth time. I read what he says the first time I accepted the quests, and even then it wasn't interesting. Up until this patch, I could just click on the quest in the menu, and then keep pressing Y until nothing else pops up. Now, I need to look at every dialog. The General says something, which only has a "Next" and "Close chat". Then he asks you to accept the quest, with a Yes/No window. Then he says another thing that needs "Next"ing. I have to choose which keys to hit depending on which quest dialog window is up. Why? Why force me to pay attention to this nonsense more than absolutely necessary? If Nexon wants to force people to read quest dialog, they should use better logic for repeatable quests. First time, require that windows fully load, and even require mouse clicking and only enable the button after a delay. I don't care. But every time after that, put up an abbreviated dialog and let us get through it as easily as possible. Also, they need to find a way for Maple to work on Windows 8 (kind of buggy to play on) because since retailers are now shipping in Windows 8 instead of 7, they can expect more new gen people coming in and playing the game. Alright, I could see how it would inconvenience people, but would you rather them bring the Y button back or fix the loading screen waiting time? You can't choose both, because as we know Nexon would rather work on the "Y button" issues like graphical bugs, dialogue, and sound effects, as opposed to the bugs that actually affect game play like CWKPQ, Skill Book related quests like The Crusade, fixes for skills from new classes, etc. While the Y button is a problem, I feel like it does not deserve to be up there with actual problems like the other 4 mentioned in the OT. I would save much more time with the Y=Yes option than the loading screen fix, as I only load maple a few times a day but I accept quests upwards of hundreds of times a day. Besides, it's the easiest to fix. It would take like literally two seconds to fix, it's not as difficult as something like town lag. Same with the issue of climbing up/down ladders and portals, although that's less annoying. However, if you try to drop items that are untradable (e.g. most quest-related items), then Enter usually works (e.g. ticket pieces for Monster Park) but not always the case (those recently-dropping Gaga shiny yellow powder thingy). Irritating because keystrokes are now all over the place, and when you want to drop untradable junk in a rush, you have one more issue to deal with on top of the ridiculous server latency at times. You know what I do is just click on the maple window twice and then it goes into the program not responding thing and whites over and eventually loads, I feel it loads faster.. but I'm not sure. |
