IIRC, Its not avoidable. If you're in range, you'll get hit.

I hate long range avoidables on my new account. I already had my haste when the Turkey Commandos first came out, so I was fine back then. But now, it's just hell getting past them while spamming pots with no town scroll. Or passing to a training area. >_>
