I thought you already decided you weren't doing this a month or so back, since the poll taken showed most people either didn't like it or flat didn't care about it? I don't like it because negative comments can get you infractions, why should negative ratings not work the same way? In fact, a negative rating with no explanation as to why is even more insulting to a person, in my opinion.

There was no majority in that vote and the margin by which the 'against' had plurality was statistically insignificant given the population size and the unrepresented portion.

In short, a three way split between for, against, and i don't care means there was no "winner". The Pineapple system had to be rewritten from scratch regardless, so I added the Pom rather than go back and do it later.

There's a vast difference between a negative comment "I disagree with you" and flaming "shut up you frelcking moron". Unless you can find a way to make the Pom mean the latter instead of the former it's not flaming and your argument is moot.

I agree with Sarah, the score is a bit of an eyesore, and I'm pretty sure most Southperryians know how to count. (with a few exceptions.)

It stays. Whether you think it's about rating or not it still creates a net opinion value and there's more reasons to be up front and display it than to suppress it.

I feel like it just adds more unnecessary clutter to the post, if anything. Anybody can look at the number of pineapples and pomegranates and say "hey this got more +s than -s" or vice versa. I don't think a number is necessary for someone to realize that one number is bigger than another.
