They have pretty much a 100% drop rate, but it seems only Ds come out of boxes, unless there's a super slim chance of higher grades.

I deleted all the characters off my old account and filled it with cannoneers, however, that doesn't help me with untradeable stuff.

From my understanding, you can't get S rank yet. Maximum is A rank. S rank will be like Super Alien Cubes or something lol

When you talk to Bo he says that Socketing is free at the moment, but with the next patch he'll start charging.

Socket all the items you can before then, might as well make the most out of this opportunity.
