Can you imagine if Nexon suddenly decided to change up the entire game, removing and changing quests, changing maps, and making old items unobtainable.

My Theory: If the destroyed NLC town is there when you enter the map, it's most likely an event.
If it isn't, it's most likely a future based area.

The beginning of the story brought back memories to the end of The Dark Knight for some reason..
Im interested to see where this is going though...whether it is permanent or not, and whether the current NLC will be replaced. I wonder if there'll be a chance it'll be like Future Erev, where a portal takes you into "Future NLC" or if it'll be a replacing of the current one. Oh, and what happens to CWKPQ?

as I said before this patch they only announced half of the revamp not like ascension so maybe we will get another upgrade after that second part

It is pretty much clear by now this is NOT going to be a future area. All of the hints are at the present tense. IE: Something is brewing.

inb4 this is actually what we know as crystanol, the insane power source of future maplestory, and them aliens came to steal it, and then mid event the visitors come in and we whoop ass with our future versions!

inb4 this Maple Stories is completely unrelated to what will actually happen in-game (just like the other ones have been) and we are simply getting a destroyed NLC main town w/ an extra map that transports us to the visitor PQ.

The aliens could have been accidentally giving off their presence during the course of the time lapse between present MS and when they actually attack. They may have been studying us beforehand.
