Making millions without singing - Rick - 2011-06-21 Connor Wrote:I know you absolutely hate everything about her and your opinion is set in stone so trying to argue with you about her would be a waste of time. Yep. That's all she can sing. Well. Not exceptional, just well. Making millions without singing - Providence - 2011-06-21 It's easier not to think about what you're listening to and still feel entertained. That isn't an insult to either musician. Making millions without singing - aslemn - 2011-06-21 She's pretty good when singing, so i don't really see your point. What she lacks sometimes, is creativity, or deep lyrics. I didn't like a few of her songs in this new album because of that, You and I is a pretty good example. She said in the interview that a friend of her did doubt she could make a song in ten minutes. She gone to the piano, and made the song, that is a song about absolutely nothing. The only two things i can see that she lacks are that, and the fact, like a crapload of artists, that in live performances, she tries to show her voice, her tone management, but to do so, she absolutely kills her songs. When doing them live, she erases her sense of rhytm, tone, and just "musically reads" the lyrics. That is something i really, really hate. Other than that, i really like her, she's pretty much creative about her clothes, her style, and has became much better than she used to be when she started her career. I just wish she stopped making those songs as a quick job, and spent more time focusing in some songs that have a deep meaning, deep references, like it was with Judas, Paparazzi, or Black Jesus. I really like when she spents a lot of time to make a song, and as a result, it comes out with more creativity, and critics. She has changed a lot since she started, because in the beginning, she was just another pop artist that had songs about getting drunk, dancing, or doing such things that a crapload of pop artists focus their songs on. Her voice got much better, also, in Live performances, when she did sing in the correct rhytm, it was pretty good. I just hope she stops killing her songs live, the way she's done when literally executing Born this way and Hair live lately. It shows she has talent, but also shows that the songs are too damn empty when she does that. Also the fact that she makes her songs to be live, dance worth, but sings them with the piano, in a completely boring rhytm, with a completely empty melody. I really wish she spends the same effort she spends about thinking about her clothes, building her style, in the lyrics and videos of her songs. Because Edge of Glory one was terrible. A song that passes a good atmosphere, is represented by her in leather clothes, moving, walking and doing absolutely nothing in the streets next to a Sax guy. You expected much more, because the rhytm suggested, and made you think of a completely different situation, much more intense. When she spends a lot of time working on her songs, they come out pretty good. Like Judas was, like Paparazzi was, but when she makes some songs, just to make them, just to put them in the CD and leak it ASAP just not to be forgotten, it's impossible for it to come good. I'm really looking forward for her next songs, but praying in the same time, for her not to literally execute her songs live, and for her to put effort into them, instead of making some songs about nothing, just "feeling like" or showing that you can win a race to compose a song. But saying that she has no talent about singing? Some of her lyrics are pretty empty, and because of liking her, and having listened to almost all of her songs, i'm completely sure about saying such things, a lot of her songs are like that, made for nothing, talking about nothing, contributing to nothing. That doesn't mean all of her songs are like that, that she's a bad artist, or much less that she can't sing. She's actually pretty good in it, the problem, is that she makes her happy songs, look completely boring when she sings them live. Like i said, i hope her creativity for making her appearences match with her lyrics potential, because sometimes, she begins to look like a completely different artist. Speaking about people that can't sing. It depends, the problem isn't much about who can, and who can't sing. Some people are able to sing wonderfully, but can't make songs, or compose pomegranatety songs. Some people can't sing, but with help, can turn their compositions in actual songs, and achieve success. A wonderful voice isn't something everyone can have, neither creativity. But you got to agree that having both is just too pretty damn hard. I don't have anything agains't auto-tune, when the person is actually able to compose something. My problem, is when auto-tune is to fake something, and make people think the artist has a great voice, when it doesn't. Like, for example, Katy Perry. She can sing decently in her songs, but when it goes outside a studio, her voice is terrible. Still, she makes very few live concerts because she's aware of that, barely shows up, and when she does, she sings terribly, just to praise her fans to see her. The auto tune is used to help her songs to be accepted, but they don't mask something or try to hide the fact she's bad, she is, her fans know that, everyone knows, even with auto-tune. This does not apply to Ke$ha, for example. That never does a live concert, and sings terribly. When in her songs, she's much more on average. Her fans keep saying that she sings decently, but it's no proof when it comes to singing on a studio. She runs away from live concerts, because auto-tune, in this case, is used to mask, and to make an impression of something that doesn't exist. Her voice is bad, she makes success, but never doing a live performance just causes the impression that her voice is one thing, when it isn't true. Actually, there are very few pop artists that can sing live, one of the few, very few i remember is Lily Allen. That girl, has a goddamn ridiculously good voice, but it's something she was born with. I'm not agains't auto-tune or playback, when it's used to improve someone's voice to make her songs acceptabe, to fulfill the needs of the society when it comes to having a good tone and voice, not to HIDE someone's voice or cause the impression of the artist having a non-existent voice. Oh goddamit wall. @____@ |
