You tell me.

An actual concert IRL, compared to something that's just a cgvideo:

She has a legion of fans. I guess my examples aren't really too accurate though, there are probably videos with higher viewing counts. You'd have to ask for Spidey to post, since she knows about this more than I do. I don't listen to Miku too much, though I used to.

Pretty much, although it can be more complex than just that. Quick snippet from wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocaloid Wrote:The software enables users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody. It uses synthesizing technology with specially recorded vocals of voice actors or singers. To create a song, the user must input the melody and lyrics. A piano roll type interface is used to input the melody and the lyrics can be entered on each note. The software can change the stress of the pronunciations, add effects such as vibrato, or change the dynamics and tone of the voice. Each Vocaloid is sold as "a singer in a box" designed to act as a replacement for an actual singer.

They're still available if that's what you're implying.

They will. I mean, even if the English version's out by then, there's not going to be any really popular songs, or any time to prepare them... It'll probably be the same stuff as the first concert, since Sega's involved.

(also, it's not a hologram/holograph, it's just a projection on a clear screen)

My question then would be what is the price? I know someone else who is going too.

Saturday is always the busiest and the worse day. It's also the day of the miku concert. Lines are really long because almost anyone who buys a 1-day pass usually ends up going on saturday.

You people are really spending money to see a computer sing?

Well, I mean... it's odd, yes, but if it's what you like and you want to have the experience of hearing it live... it's just like any other concert in that way.

(though, well, like I said, I'm more interested in hearing the music than watching it, so...)

No at a concert you can actually meet the person and get their autograph. Or get sweated on or something. A hologram can't sweat on you. They can't even look you in the eyes. It is literally exactly the same as listening to it from your computer.

I wouldn't even be skeptical if people were going to the expo for anime but at least two people in this thread said they bought tickets when they found out this was happening. Doesn't make sense to me.

I was under the impression that people went to concerts to hear live music, not be... sweated on? And the instruments are being played live, even if the voice is pre-recorded.
