The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Anonymous Moose - 2011-03-15 Forgive my audacity, but how much money would go to the people of Japan. I ask, because I've noticed a lot of things we give money to, dont do what we want with that money. http://www.snopes.com/rumors/charity.asp The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Kalovale - 2011-03-15 Sarah Wrote:I really hate this. Nexon has done something genuinely good by donating $1.2 million and then they sort of ruin it by adding a ridiculous clause that will benefit them more than the people they're supposed to be helping. It's not too late, we can still voice our concern, without a moral preaching tone, of course. People tend to their self interest, that would hook more fish than forcing something down everyone's throats. If you want to buy NX, do it, but don't do it because you want to do something good. If you want to do something good, do it without getting something in return. The number of people reluctant to donate likely exceeds the number of people who are doing it by their own free will. This added incentive is a good way to get help to Japan even with Nexon profiting from the act; it's still better than nothing at all from the reluctant group. I'm sure some people who have been on the edge about whether or not to mass-buy cubes and gach will be more motivated to buy now. Take that motivation away and Japan gets nothing while Nexon still profits in the end, on way or another. But I'll be sure to nominate those who donate out of altruism for Saint. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Mike - 2011-03-15 I guess I'll buy a card tomorrow. For one thing, nexon suggests people should donate before even mentioning that nx will give some profit to the relief fund. And how many truly successful charity drives can you think of that work without some sort of bonus for the person donating? I can say with absolute certainty that every charity in existence that doesn't give the people donating something out of it will not make as much money as ones that do. Keep preaching your moral high ground, but since you're probably not aware of it: This kind of acting superior isn't going to make people run out and donate money; you're more likely to just get people to say, oh , pineapple it, and do nothing. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Baklava - 2011-03-15 I think you guys are underestimating how much people buy cash equips and anything else that isn't sold/vended. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Combattente - 2011-03-15 Didn't really expect them to donate so much. Great job, Nexon. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Firebirdies - 2011-03-15 When I first saw the notice for this two things came to mind: - Good job Nexon. - I wonder how people are going to make this into a bad thing that Nexon is doing. Edit: I have a question, i'm not sure if anyone can answer this though. Would the new experience coupons count towards this since they're in the event section and not the game section like they were before? Just need to know before I start gifting junk. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Razmos - 2011-03-15 I love you Nexon! Firebirdies Wrote:Edit: Look if they are in the game section too. Iirc items are most of the time both in the event tab and in their respective tab too. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - IPunketOz - 2011-03-15 They just want to be on the news "Nexon america an online game donated 1.2m usd" The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Combattente - 2011-03-15 They could've avoided that stupid game category clause, though. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - IImaplers - 2011-03-15 C'mon guys! This is Nexon we are talking about. I bet when it happened they were like: "w00w, l00k wat h@pp3n 2 J@pan. H0w we can Maeks m0re pr0fit off th@t?" Head monkey: I got idea! That and if they wanted to convince me that this isn't for profit (considering 90% of their revenue probably comes from people charging NX for cubes), make it 50% of their earnings from all items rather than 100% of their earnings from all but game items. The point is that anyone who mass-buys cubes or gach isn't helping anyone BUT Nexon. They're taking advantage of those people who may have been on the edge about donating. The GAME exception isn't even mentioned in this specific article which is pretty bad. Lozmaster Wrote:Way to overreact. I wasn't acting superior at all, it seems to me like you're just being overly-sensitive. I was just suggesting a better means of donating to make sure they actually get your money without any catches. The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Seanny - 2011-03-15 While the biggest selling item in the whole game is in the game tab, there's still a lot of Decent selling stuff NOT in that tab. -Ruby/Sapphire Exp coupons (its in the Event tab right now...) -Royal Hair Coupons -Exp Hair Coupons -Server Megaphones -Shop Passes/Merchants -Pet Items -AP Resets (how could i forget) While at this point Cubes and Gacha combined probably greatly outweigh the income from all of these, i think those items have sizable potential. In my personal case its a total win because I still havent had to buy either cubes or gacha (I HATE GACHA) I won't deny that it would have been better to include them though, but I find what is being offered acceptable. I also won't deny that Nexon's gonna get a tax break this year for donating anyway, so they're not sacrificing THAT much for Japan, but they definitely are helping. |
