They used to have it on the patch notes announcing they'd be permanent this year even something about like "omg old players will be pleased about making them permanent this year"... I got excited and everything for nothing.

That gives a few more details on the event, and where i originally saw the announcement for permie masks. We'll see tomorrow if it really is true.

Yeah, because, you know, permanent +3 all face accessories will totally break the game.
Not to mention hurt Nexon's bottom line, because you know nobody is going to use gachapon anymore once they have an unscrollable, unpotentialable mask in their possession.
Finally, these masks are so beautiful, nobody will buy Cash Shop face accessories to cover them up.

Yup, permanent mardi gras masks were a horrible horrible idea. We're glad we caught it in time and removed the word from the annoucement (not that its remaining there would have committed us to anything, but it would have swamped us with unpleasant whining), and also fired the idiot who put it there in the first place.

As much as i like to make fun of nexon americas generally awful buisness practices in regards to in-game content as well as advertising decisions, there is still a little voice inside me saying how they still took down more than i did this year.

They are so seemingly obbessesd with random number generation and then expensive ways of buy passing that same RNG. I don't get how it keeps working, but it does.

Well, not on me, but you get the point. Maybe.

For some reason, where he says "Just so you know, sometimes I get locked into the groove and turn out some ridiculously awesome masks." makes me believe that the Royal masks are perma.

It's Cajun French, not pure French. Mardi Gras in the States is best known for in New Orleans which NEXON seems to be taking from.

Bon Temps is the name of a city in Louisiana; I read a series of books that takes place there. So, yeah.

So... how does this event work?

Hand in 10 necklaces every hour, to get 1 feather, and after 10 feathers of the same colour, you get a mask?

Seems like it'd take you about 10 hours just to get 1 mask like that. And then it lasts 5 days... just about enough time to get another mask...

Ugh, why aren't they permanent? I never get to keep equips that really boost my stats.

Basically. Assuming you get 10 of the same feather, then yeah, 10 total hours.
