Really? I think they should make themselves more known then. I don't really get why they won't be allowed to reveal themselves.

MasPan Wrote:You're sorely mistaken there. The GMs are on very frequently and for long periods of time. They simply aren't allowed to reveal themselves the majority of the time.

What are they doing all that time?
We know they're not banning hackers.
We know they're not banning scammers.
We know they don't respond to "alert GM" clicks, desperate Smegas, or any other attempt to attract their attention to immediate problems.
We know they are not getting to know what's going on in the game, because issues that most all players are aware of (either bugs in the game or things like ks-ing/hacking guilds) are completely unknown to Nexon.
So, what are they logged in for, if in fact they are? AFK in a shop?

Uh, no, GM's that are actively in game are clearly non-existant. In the 5 years I have played I have never seen a GM who was currently online actually take initiative and ever ban a player. I've seen 3 cases where like, piratejing, got banned for homework as requested, and like, helping someone recover from hacking.

Admin's don't know much more about the game as someone who just started, other than the coding, if that. To become even applicable you can't even have association with Maplestory, so all they really know by heart is the tech side, not the community, common training spots, little things like that.

But still, it'd be so nice if more GMs were patrolling or had a way to zoom through maps so action can be taken faster. Some hackers don't get iced for days.

Hell most of the hackers that aint goldfarmers never get touched. I bet every server got a handful of lvl 200 hackers with exploited gear and that lovely attitude toward the game that we have come to love. I know my server does. If I were a GM I would just monitor the chat that goes on in the first three FM rooms. Presto, after a day or so you know exactlly who exploited what hack/glitch.

If I recall you play in Khaini, why the hell would they have to go the fm rooms?

Mother fuckers smega that crap all day long.

Indeed. I just always get a few laughs seeing them chat when I pass by in FM. xD

I'm just say here to say Maspan is probably right. Not allowed to say why I suspect so, but he is indeed right.

I'm gonna have to side with SaptaZapta. If they do nothing of the things he pointed out, it is like they are not even there anyway. Also I doubt the exact truth of Nexons approach when it comes to game management is truthfully relayed to a certain few brigadeers, granted, I could be wrong.

1. They're actually monitoring the game. If you actually paid attention to other forums, you'd know that many "hackers" actually get permabanned from being spotted by a Game Master.
2. Yes they are.
3. Scamming doesn't warrant a ban. It's pure idiocy.
4. The reason why "Alert GM" doesn't get responded is because with so many players, many of them could be false positives and having to look into each and every case of a report would take a long time. They probably would only notice if it's constantly being reported by at least 20+ players.
5. Answered this already indirectly.

In that case, we go back to "they are severely understaffed".
GMs are on all day, and yet they never manage to catch the hackers raining mines all over the more popular maps...

I don't know what server you played, but back when Khaini first opened GMs were VERY open to players then. One GM (CowboyCoffee) was so well known that he was actually friends with several players (myself included). It was a long time ago, but I know for fact that GMs are on quite a bit. He still worked there last I talked to him, which was sometime last year.

You just don't typically know they're there because of the reasons Locked listed.

I suppose you never so much as glance at the weekly permaban lists? You've got a team of roughly 10-20 GMs and probably 20-30 MWLB resulting in upwards of 1500 or so perma-bans a week (or monthly, can't remember). That's pretty pineappleing significant.

Could they be more transparent about their actions? Yes. Would it be beneficial? Not necessarily. Hackers already know they're out there and aren't afraid, increased visibility likely wouldn't change much in that regard. It WOULD, however, make it very apparent exactly what their capabilities/numbers are, which is a bad thing - it would make it easily more apparent how/when to get away with hacking.

Just imagine if they doubled the GMs and MWLBs but kept doing everything in silence.

What GMs need, and may not exist in MS, are tools that make it very easy to ban hackers.

The main reason hackers hack is to gain exp or money faster than regular players.

What do you do about it? Populate a list of current exp/meso gain rates by level. Give GMs a button to instantly travel to the top user on the list who hasn't been checked by a GM in the last day or so. If they're hacking, press one button. If they're not hacking, press another button. Either way, they're removed from the list (until the next sweep) and travel to the next person.

There are ways to get around this, of course - like botting at a normal exp rate, 24 hours a day. But you tackle them when they become issues.

Seriously are you guys really going to make up such ludicrous assumptions? I don't work for nexon but it's pretty damn obvious that in game activities don't qualify as "regulated".

Common maps are hacked consistantly, hacked items smega'd, for pineapple sake people smega the packet codes in order to dupe items. Are you seriously going to sit here and tell me they actually log in? Especially to a game with no attachments?

Good joke, but hey, I'll give you all the benefit of the doubts with these silly myths. But let's be realistic, the only people on that perman ban list are 1 out of 3 things:

-AutoBan victum(hackers bypass failed is also applicable, though most is involving NX cash.

-Smega that a player went too far to often, or part of a guild who harrases

-Advertisers, which are pretty damn obvious to begin with.

In other words, pomegranate we don't care about. So are you going to sit here and tell me the GM's are efficient? Why didn't they regulate the christmas event, for pineapple sake even know about it?

The game isn't regulated in that fashion and I'm surprised so many people live in that fantasy.

It's pretty clear they don't actively watch things such as FM when you have mules afk map crashing Ch1 FM rooms. Or things like HT anymore, where all they'd have to do is log in after a SC/patch and sit in CH9 entrance to know that it's clearly glitched. Or log in and sit in Ch1 FM1. Not hard to tell which people/group is using bots/map crash to get spots.
