Mandatory Vaccinations - Stereo - 2011-02-01 Anonymous Moose Wrote:And Stereo, I dont know what your country is like and what you believe, but this is America and this country was founded on freedom. Part of that freedom is to choose how you want to live your life, and of course what goes into your body. It infringes upon our freedoms to have the government mandate injecting foreign materials into our bodies. My country is not a cesspool of disease, and I credit this to a successful vaccination strategy, that is, anyone who wants to go to public schools must take vaccinations. In my country, the strategy is to leave this kind of decision to the experts - you know, doctors and scientists, who can understand what vaccines accomplish. If you're in public, you have a responsibility to not endanger other members of the public by making poor decisions. Legislating against drunk driving impinges on your freedoms too - because the risk is too high. And it's not up to you to decide what's risky. The MMR vaccine is just as obviously effective as the one you cited was not: http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa060775 Wrote:ResultsAnd you ask yourself... why did these people refuse to have their kids vaccinated? Was it a good idea? Mandatory Vaccinations - Anonymous Moose - 2011-02-01 Corn Wrote:-cut for space-You probably should take advertisers with a grain of salt. And I highly doubt you even read the article I linked if you are calling it a "small pox article." And small pox alone doesnt prove vaccines are useless, but it is enough to question their effectiveness. Same for that mumps issue I linked to. And Stereo, please post a case study with that are vaccinated and definitly exposed to the virus in the same manner. The fact that unvaccinated people were infected does not prove that the vaccine was effective. Real science requires a control and experimental group. Not one or the other (and preferably a lot of other factors). Also, a source I cited mentioned that the MMR vaccine has the side effect of autism. Mandatory Vaccinations - Holypie - 2011-02-01 You realize that the small pox issue that you're referencing is from the 1800s, right? Mandatory Vaccinations - Anonymous Moose - 2011-02-01 Holypie Wrote:You realize that the small pox issue that you're referencing is from the 1800s, right? And this invalides history... how? Mandatory Vaccinations - Holypie - 2011-02-01 So you're suggesting that the quality of vaccines hasn't improved in 200 years. Mandatory Vaccinations - Anonymous Moose - 2011-02-01 Holypie Wrote:So you're suggesting that the quality of vaccines hasn't improved in 200 years. Vaccines are ancient technology that has not changed significantly for several years and looking at two sources I posted, the results of vaccines havent either. At best, there is less contamination in the vaccines. However, I doubt that is a factor, because the mumps issue I mentioned is very similar. In japan, the government just spread the disease. In America, the vaccine apparently spread the disease, or at the very least was ineffective. Mandatory Vaccinations - Corn - 2011-02-01 Anonymous Moose Wrote:You probably should take advertisers with a grain of salt. Only the Communist America link was an ad. The rest were news reports. And ads tell a lot about a site. I skimmed the small pox article, but I didn't read the whole thing. I don't need to read the whole thing to get the gist of it. And quite frankly, http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/default.htm. Mandatory Vaccinations - Mira - 2011-02-01 Hay, ever heard of whopping cough? You know, the diseases that we have a vaccination for that ended up killing 8 in California a few years back because people refused to vaccinate their kids? (Related Story) I recently got this vaccination myself during my physical, which is required by my school. Thing is, it was a booster. Doctors (like my own; I am not yet an adult and I still visit the pediatrician) think children should be vaccinated for good reason. They DO protect against disease. How vaccinations stop disease really relies on group immunity. If most people are vaccinated (I think 90%~95% of the population is the most effective) in a population, then the group is more protected against the disease. It is when you get high numbers of un-vaccinated people in a population that diseases begin to crop up again. Meningitis is also another vaccine which is very important for school children and college students. Do you honestly want to increase your chance of getting this deadly disease? What many people don't realize is that vaccination isn't just important for small children; Teenagers, young adults, adults.. they all need to keep their vaccinations up-to-date. Not only for their own health, but for the safety of the overall population. A staged way of administering vaccinations to babies and toddlers should be implemented and improved over time as new data is discovered. The way it is now is a bit overkill. We can NEVER prove vaccines do NOT have a link to autism; What we can do is find something that has a definitive link to autism. We should not only look at vaccinations, but other sources as well. I believe narrowing your view to only one cause and not a multitude of causes is the wrong outlook when it comes to this complicated and devastating condition. Mandatory Vaccinations - Stereo - 2011-02-01 Anonymous Moose Wrote:And Stereo, please post a case study with that are vaccinated and definitly exposed to the virus in the same manner. The fact that unvaccinated people were infected does not prove that the vaccine was effective. Real science requires a control and experimental group. Not one or the other (and preferably a lot of other factors). It's unethical to intentionally expose anyone to a potentially deadly virus, so that's not going to happen. Anyway, it's far more scientifically sound than the smallpox numbers you quoted. When you're comparing 0% in the vaccinated group to 32% in the unvaccinated group, that's not coincidence. There's simply no way to spin those statistics and say it's possible the two are uncorrelated. In regard to autism, you've mentioned a case study of 7 British children (note: in Britain the chemical you linked to autism is illegal as a preservative) who showed signs consistent with autism. There are 3/4 of a million children born in Britain every year. Even assuming all 7 are the same age, if MMR has >=95% coverage, that's an incidence rate of 1 in 100,000. For the other 99,999 children, it prevents deadly respiratory illnesses. If everybody stopped taking the vaccine, and started contracting measles again, approximately 300 of those 100,000 would die. So what's worse, 300 deaths or 1 child with signs consistent with ASD? Mandatory Vaccinations - Anonymous Moose - 2011-02-01 Quote:It's unethical to intentionally expose anyone to a potentially deadly virus, so that's not going to happen. Anyway, it's far more scientifically sound than the smallpox numbers you quoted. Thank you for not mentioning the name of this illegal preservative, Thimerosal, which is given to infants as early as 6 months old in standard flu vaccinations. Regarding your statistics of autism, where did you get that incidence rate? I hope it wasnt based on a study of only 7 children, because although a study of 7 children is decent for small studies, it is not a large enough sample to be used for accurate statistics. Also, you are assuming that vaccines are a major cause of the reduced incidence rate of measles. Ever consider that it could possibly be a result of increased standards of living? Quote:Measles outbreaks have occurred in schools with vaccination rates over 98 % in all parts of the U.S. including areas that had reported no cases of measles for years. As measles immunization rates rise to high levels measles becomes a disease seen only in vaccinated persons. An outbreak of measles occurred in a school where 100 % of the children had been vaccinated. Measles mortality rates had declined by 97 % in England before measles vaccination was instituted. Also, for the person that mentioned whopping cough: Quote:In 1986 there were 1300 cases of pertussis in Kansas and 90 % of these cases occurred in children who had been adequately vaccinated. Similar vaccine failures have been reported from Nova Scotia where pertussis continues to be occurring despite universal vaccination. Pertussis remains endemic[4] in the Netherlands where for more than 20 years 96 % of children have received 3 pertussis shots by age 12 months.http://www.newswithviews.com/Howenstine/james.htm And regarding small pox, as much are you are trying to deny it, it is suspicious when more people are dying from the disease when the vaccine is introduced than before the vaccine is introduced. It's a case study, meaning they looked at every patient exhibiting an adverse reaction to the vaccine. Why is it seven children? Presumably because that's all the kids they could find that showed ASD symptoms after taking an MMR shot. If you want a study showing overall stats of ASD occurence in MMR vaccinated children, find one. I don't think such a thing exists, but maybe you're right. Mandatory Vaccinations - Corn - 2011-02-01 Anonymous Moose Wrote:And regarding small pox, as much are you are trying to deny it, it is suspicious when more people are dying from the disease when the vaccine is introduced than before the vaccine is introduced.Yeah, well, the reason why smallpox is eliminated worldwide (even in crappy countries with low standards of living) is because the WHO organized a world vaccination program. Mandatory Vaccinations - Netto - 2011-02-01 Anonymous Moose Wrote:T-snip Weak argument. Because, apparently the same man states abortion causes breast cancer with inconclusive evidence. And there are 2 main reasons that people are getting sick or sicker than 20~30 years ago: Stupidity and becoming immune. Stupidity because people believe more and more that vaccines do more harm than good. We had wiped out whooping cough to its lowest levels in the previous generations. Then, all of a sudden, the conspiracy theory of "immunizations do more harm than good" caused it to come back. This may also be the case with measles. By the way, I found this article: http://www.unicef.org/media/media_20609.html Good thing the United Nations stepped in. Which leads to immunity. After awhile, the body becomes resistant to a drug which then leads to a stronger drug. It's probable that because of the steady drop in immunizations that there was a drop in the funding. Those who took the drug become more immune to the drug while the diseases become stronger. Lower funding for diseases means less research and development for them. We've barely scratched the surface of drugs already. Who's to say that the vaccines are at fault 100% of the time as well? *Note that it also didn't say how often they were vaccinated. According to this article, 5%~15% can still get measles even after the shot. http://www.vaccineinformation.org/measles/qandavax.asp Mandatory Vaccinations - Stereo - 2011-02-01 Netto Wrote:According to this article, 5%~15% can still get measles even after the shot. Thus the implementation of booster shots, MMR again several years after the first time. It eliminates the majority of those remaining, and caused a decrease in incidence of all 3 when it was done in the US. Mandatory Vaccinations - Nikkey - 2011-02-01 The notion that newborns cannot handle vaccines is a completely wrong one, and is often peddled by anti-vaccinationists. Their immune systems are already handling a massive load starting at birth. First, its the mother's faecal bacteria and fungi, the vaginal flora, the bacteria and fungi on the mother's skin, everything in the hospital/birthing centre. The antigenic dose of the whole environment is MASSIVE compared to the tiny antigen dose of vaccinations. If newborns could not handle the tiny dose of vaccines, they wouldn't survive being born, let alone being born in an environment less clean than a hospital. There's a reason paediatric vaccines exist, too. The doses are adjusted for infants, and the small doses are repeated to give protection, in many cases very similar to natural immunity through exposure, but without all the risk. Not all vaccines last forever - the pertussis/whooping cough vaccine needs to be boosted about every ten years, for example. Natural immunity from pertussis lasts about as long. That's right, just because you've had pertussis, that doesn't mean you're immune. This disease is a baby killer, and it kills in a really awful, painful way. Adults usually escape without too much trouble other than serious discomfort, but my girlfriend contracted the disease when she was 18 and coughed for five months straight, and her lungs took a hard hit. She's now asthmatic and will remain so for the rest of her life. Also, on the topic of thiomersal. The Resident Conspiracy Theorist is wrong here, again. A lot of vaccines have never contained thiomersal at all. No live-virus vaccines ever had thiomersal, for example, because that'd kill the virus and it wouldn't work. The MMR shot, targeted by Wakefield the fraudster, is one of those. The reason thiomersal was added in vaccines in the first place was because back in the day single-dose vials were rare and expensive. With a multi-dose vial, the potential for contamination is huge, and one such incident resulted in several children dying of a serious bacterial infection. Thiomersal would kill off the bacteria and make the vaccines safe to use. Nowadays, pretty much every vaccine except a few flu vaccines are made in single-dose vials, and therefore the companies don't spend money on unnecessary preservatives. (Vaccines actually don't make much money, contrary to what a lot of conspiracy theorists claim. Medical companies would make a lot more money if people got sick and had to be treated.) The trace amounts of thiomersal found in some vaccines is because some of the ingredients in production may be preserved. Thiomersal is also quite safe (it has gotten an undeservedly bad rep), and used to be used in contact lens solutions until it was discovered that some people are allergic and would get very red, itchy eyes, so now most companies have switched to other preservatives. The amount of mercury, and note that this is NOT elemental mercury or methyl mercury which is the danger of fish, in thiomersal-preserved products is tiny. Babies absolutely can process these tiny amounts, and thank goodness for that, because they are exposed to a lot more mercury just from living in a city with medium levels of pollution (especially if you live in the vicinity of a crematorium), and even more if they ever should eat some fish. Have you ever heard of a kid got killed because the poor thing ate a fish? Eh. Even teething powders used to contain a Pineappleload of mercury. Not that it was good for the children who got a lot, but we're talking drastically different orders of magnitude here. TL;DR: http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/372812/january-31-2011/paul-offit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86Iw0qrRaPg&feature=feedu What is this I don't even. Mandatory Vaccinations - TaliaNCo - 2011-02-02 The problem is when a vaccine is first introduced, you have no idea the wide range of possible effects until it's been given to a large population of people. My pediatrician for the last 6.5 years doesn't agree with my point of view on vaccinations but respects my choice. I remember refusing to let them give my son the "Prevnar" vaccine when it became available. This was suppose to help prevent pneumonia, meningitis and ear infections. Upon visiting my pediatrician many months later, he removed that vaccine from his office due to many children coming down with pneumonia and severe, recurring ear infections. That vaccine was recalled in 2009. I refuse to let them use my children as human guinea pigs. (and that's how i view it) I'm not saying I'm against vaccines as a whole. I'm merely saying I am cautious about them, especially when a new one is introduced. I have little faith in the medical community due to my own horrid experiences. Believe me when I say these so-called experts sometimes don't know their head from their ass. Mandatory Vaccinations - FrozNlite - 2011-02-02 This thread makes me rage. So fucking hard. It doesn't help that I'm drunk, but whatever. I'll try and sum up everything I'd try and say in a short post, but lord knows I tend to ramble, so bear with me if I do. I suppose to sum it all up, I sympathize with Talia's comment in the last post regarding being cautious about vaccines due to horrible personal experiences. I don't doubt that anyone who has experience the statistical minority probability would feel cheated by the system and upset at what occurred, forever vengeful against whatever powers that be that caused their unfortunate outcome. But the bottom line is that what we're discussing here is BIOLOGY, one of the few (or perhaps its own stand-alone subject in this category) subjects in this world that is FOREVER changing, and FOREVER an individual science. It's why I love it so much, and why I get so frustrated when I see threads like these: because the people that are most vocal against the best policies are those very few who experienced the worst outcomes. That's all it is. I'm sorry to break your hearts, but not everything works 100% of the time for everyone in the world of biology. There is no, and will ever be, a cure-all drug for a disease or ailment that works for any and all afflicted. It's just not possible, simply because everyone is different, and everyone individual makeup and life experiences and interactions with other people and things that harbor biological pathogens are different. So what do we do then? I'm not asking for blind faith, like many religious zealots following their ancient texts. But what I am asking is to follow the truth of science, from many different perspectives, and specifically to follow the general consensus. That's the main contention here. To follow the GENERAL. CONSENSUS. I've seen a ton of articles and crap studies posted in this thread from rando crazed scientists ironically trying to make a buck on crackpot theories that conspiracy theorists like some of you post to make a point. I'm sorry, but they're WRONG, and can be debunked with hundreds of articles, studies, and commentary for each shred of farse you post. Don't believe me? Just look over this thread, where the majority of posts are counterarguments trying to prevent the spread of misinformation. A bunch of you are just a bunch of ignoramists. I don't sit here and pretend to know everything. I don't know everything. I'm not going to dictate how international economic policy could function because I don't know the first goddamn thing about my own local economic policy. A good lot of you should take the same approach with regards to vaccinations: you're not microbial scientists, you haven't done the research, you haven't done the articles, and are instead listening to the old wives tales and paranoid ramblings of your FOX News-informed neighbors regarding how to best live your lives. Make your OWN decisions by doing your OWN research and reading the FACTS from a NUMBER of RELIABLE sources. That's how this world will truly move forward in the end. So to get off my drunken soapbox, what does this all have to do with the topic at hand? The majority of reputable, respected scientists have proven that vaccines do in fact NOT cause autism. Don't believe me? Do the research. Also, routine vaccinations, starting at birth, are essential for maximal health. Once again, don't believe me? Do the research. Finally, mandatory vaccinations are truly the way to stave off infection once a useful vaccination has been developed, as proven by the eradication of Smallpox in 1979 and the fact that, as stated earlier, it's with group vaccinations that the population as a whole remains healthy. Those of you who choose to opt out and end up getting sick, as the majority do, are really just lovely holes in the human defense where the microbe can multiply and gain resistance to the vaccine, not only making it worthless and rendering all our defenses useless, but further proving your convoluted point through your inaction. Once again, don't believe me? Do the research. In the end, the bottom line is that this is biology, not logic, and half the time biology defies logic on an individual and daily basis. It's a disconcerting yet intensely exciting fact to wrap your mind around. Biology does not operate around one person speaking out against something, but a strong movement making waves against a theory. Unless some of the idiots posted earlier in this thread have a substantial following legitimately recognized by any reputable international scientific foundation, I suggest you do not give them much notice. And all in all, like I said, this is not to discredit or mitigate the intellect of such scientists, who may in the end be preaching the truth against a storm of stubborn falsity. But if our past has proven anything, it's that, especially with the biological sciences, you need case after case of experiments, conducted by hundreds of different scientists, to make a real difference in the community. Without that, a simple blog of rage isn't going to do much good - and, again of course, is usually wrong in the end as well. Mandatory Vaccinations - Anonymous Moose - 2011-02-02 I think I'll just start over with my statements and combine them into one post. I must ask a question. If vaccines are so safe, so perfect, then why has the federal government protected vaccine producers from bing sued and other legal sanctions? If vaccines are so safe, there would be no need for such protections. Regarding Thimerosal, studies do show a connection with brain damage (autism being one side effect)? Some studies show that thimerosal does metabolize, releasing toxic mercury(II) which inflames the brain, causes rapid brain growth. Some lab rats receiving thimerosal began performing abnormal behavours. While I know people will deny the findings, at least this experiment used a control group that was not given chemicals found in vaccines. This brings me to one major problem with those studies by the CDC, British Medical Journal, etc. None of them have a control group that is unexposed to vaccines. They can hardly prove or disprove any link between thimerosal and definitly do not prove people like Wakefield are frauds. In fact, Wakefield recently discovered that other studies before his confirmed his his results, and the British Medical Journal lied about the existence of these studies. This isnt even the begining of the corruption. The CDC itself states
Thimerosal and Autism In response to public concerns, VSD researchers have begun a case-control study to examine the association between thimerosal and autism rigorously. The study aims to determine whether exposure to thimerosal in infancy or in utero is related to development of autism. The study will also evaluate whether exposure to thimerosal in infancy is related to development of the subclass of autism predominantly associated with regression. As part of the study, researchers will use automated data and registries to identify children with autism (cases) and without autism (controls). In-person examinations, telephone interviews, medical chart reviews, and immunization tracking systems will be used to collect information on vaccine history and other covariates. Recommended by the Institute of Medicine, this VSD study will be the first rigorous, epidemiological study conducted on the issue of thimerosal and autism. Data from this VSD study should provide the best available scientific information on whether a causal association between exposure to thimerosal and the development of autism is possible. This study is in the data collection phase.
http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/Activities/vsd/priority_studies.html The CDC just stated that there is currently no "rigorous, epidemiological study conducted on the issue of thimerosal and autism." They have absolutely no standing to say thimerosal is safe. They just stated that no conclusive study exists. One interesting note is the fact this study is behind schedule, but 13 months http://www.ageofautism.com/2010/09/cdc-admits-no-rigorous-study-refuting-thimerosal-autism-link-ever-conducted.html I havent even begun to look into the CDC. Just look at the case of Dr. Julie Gerberding. Why did she work for Meric's vaccine division after she retired from being the head of the CDC in 2009? Am I the only one that notices a potential conflict of interest here? The unholy union between the government and special interests? http://www.naturalnews.com/027789_Dr_Julie_Gerberding_Merck.html Speaking of Merck, they apparently knew that a drug they released called vioxx came with a great risk to the heart and they attempted to cover it up. Their secret studies were revealed in court, and Australia ended up ruling that the drug should never have been approved. http://www.naturalnews.com/029035_Vioxx_courts.html http://www.naturalnews.com/027946_Merck_Vioxx.html Its quite obvious that we are dealing with a corrupt CDC that is a little too cozy with drug lord Merck, who consistantly has disregarded the public's health in the name of profits. Now back to vaccines and autism. Apparently a little interesting fact is that unvaccinated communities have fewer cases of Autism, by far. 1 in 100 are Diagnosed in the general public of America. 1 in 4875 are diagnosed in the Amish of Lancaster County. 1 in 10000 are diagnosed in the Amish of Ohio. Then we have the Homefirst Health Services which as a rate of 0 in 35000. http://www.vaccinationcouncil.org/quick-compare-2/ If thimerosal was removed from all vaccines, then why is autism still occuring? There are two posibilities on my mind. 1- Vaccines still have thimerosal. It was never removed from certain vaccines like the flu shot (which is recommended at the age of 6months), and the CDC declares that all vaccines have either no thimerosal or trace amounts. This trace amount excuse is the same reason transfat-free food can still contain significant amounts of transfat. 2- There are other toxic materials in vaccines. Two are Formaldehyde and Aluminum. Aluminum deservse special attention for enhancing the toxixity of other substances (including thimerosal by slowing the rate at which Thimerosal is removed from the body and allowing more HG(II) Ions to accumulate in the body) and on it's own being a neurotoxin linked to Alzheimers, ADHD, and obviously autism. http://vran.org/health-risks/mercury-and-thimerosal-in-vaccines/thimerosal-containing-vaccines-and-neurodevelopment-outcomes/ http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/03/20/david-ayoub-interview-february-2010.aspx And I have only mentioned the surface of concerns with vaccines, and I still have two very important points to mention. First, many scientists believe that vaccines may be innefective at preventing the disease. The Whooping cough epidemic was mentioned earlier, but one thing the media didnt cover was some interesting statistics. In california, between 44% and 84% of pertussis victims were fully vacinated. In Ohio and Texis the results were 75% and 67.5%. Even communities with a 90% vaccination rate had outbreaks. Then apparently a respected dutch scientist blames the outbreak on pertussis mutations - not unvaccinated people. Then different statistics suggest vaccines are not responsible for the elimination or reduction in virus related deaths. Historical evidence suggests that imporved living conditions was the result, not vaccines. I'll start with small pox. One claim about small pox was never eradicated. IT just has a new name: http://www.archetypeltd.co.nz/Smallpox.htm#eradication And of course the same article comes to the conclusion that the cowpox vaccine does not prevent small pox, that the reduced cases were a result of increased living standards and that the best way to prevent small pox is hygene and proper quarentine policies. And then there is statistical evidence that the small pox vaccine caused more deaths from small pox when the deathrate of small pox was in decline http://www.archetypeltd.co.nz/images/smallpox_graph.png I'm still not done... I still have questions. For one, why are we taking unnecessary vaccines? Heb. B is a sexually transmitted disease, so why must we take the vaccine the moment we are born? Why not wait untill shortly before children become sexually active or have the potential to be exposed to the few other ways the disease can be transmitted? Also, why is gardasil recommended for males that lack the organs that HPV would cause cancer in? Also, why is Merck recommending the vaccine for 9 year old girls when their own scientists would not recommend the vaccine for anyone under the age of 18 and when their studies did not include women under 15? Just to go on the topic of gardasil, apparently a scientist claims that it is a useless and dangerous vaccine:
The benefit to public health is nothing, there is no reduction in cervical cancers "I think there's a strong possibility that Gardasil was the catalyst that set off the ALS [Lou Gehrig's Disease]. It could have been the straw that broke the camel's back in a child who was already predisposed to the condition. I do think it's wrong for physicians to tell parents that it's 100 percent safe."
http://www.naturalnews.com/027225_vaccine_cancer_cervical.html Then finally, regarding the UN and vacinations in 3rd world countries, we only have the word of the UN to go on and possibly some standard media outlets. But one thing is clear, countries with better sanitation and well kept records show a contradiction to the UN's claims. Besides, there has never been a true scientific study proving vaccines (double blind and placebo controlled).
So the vaccine was recalled because it caused the issues it was meant to prevent? Anyone concerned over such results is justified in questioning and resisting. Edit: I should also mention that science should always be open to new ideas and that nothing in science has been completely proven aside from perhaps the most basic of physical laws like gravity, but even then it has never been proven how gravity works. This is why it is always important to welcome new ideas, and not behave like the churches who attempted to perpetuate the idea of a geocentric solar system and imprison those who questioned this obviously false claim. For vaccines, we need to not just accept the opinions of professionals with strong ties to drug companies and special interests and claim all scientists that disagree to be "conspiracy theorists." Name calling isnt science. The search for the truth through logical unbias means and an open mind to criticism is science. Mandatory Vaccinations - DeanNim - 2011-02-02 students from government/-aided schools get free vaccinations/boosters every 3 - 5 years. Mandatory Vaccinations - Shidoshi - 2011-02-02 I should point out that all your "vaccines are not 100% safe" are moot points. Of course they are not 100% safe, medicine is not based on miracle cures, it's based on PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS. You vaccinate people because the side-effects and the people who will still get infected even when vaccinated are heavily outweighted by the ammounts you'd have without vaccination. Also, studies can never have a zero control group. You can't deny access to proven medicine in order to conduct a study, it's unethical. My view is: leave science and medicine to the scientist and doctors. They know what they are doing (as a general rule), of course there may be black sheep in the group and people with secondary intents but what can you do? Can you create a vaccine yourself? When thousands of studies prove that it's beneficial to take vaccines it's ignorant to go against it based on personal experience or unfounded fears of low probability events (yes, some people will develop an auto-immune disease from the H1N1 vaccine but that's better than the ammount of people who would have died without the vaccine). |
