Although we set goals for ourselves to reach a high level, the process itself is all but exciting. I doubt you would enjoy training hours upon hours with the same skills in the same place. Watching something on the side just helps alleviate the automatous nature of grinding.

I could watch + train on shadower but I often miss more than half of the PoT which defeats the purpose of my training.

I took it one step further really, I used to watch stuff (or listen to radio shows like Bob & Sheri) while grinding and walking on my elliptical or pedaling on my stationary bike.

I had an old friend who would walk on a treadmill. Never understood how he was able to do it, i know i would forget to walk at somepoint and fall >.>
I mostly listen to music, sometimes watch tv. My tv is just behind and to the left of my computer so i can just barely see both at the same time.

I take glances at the TV sometimes, but it's mostly listening to music that I do while playing, especially when doing massive grinding.
Put on a few hours long playlist of Dir en Grey and I get in the zone.

It's not that MS is boring, it just can't occupy all my senses at once. Especially in grinding, there's not a lot to listen to. So I have done radio shows and audiobooks.
I don't play classes where you can take your eyes off the screen so I don't watch TV though.

Do listening to itunes podcasts work? It's what I've been doing for the past 2 or so years now, since each "episode" is about 1-2 hours long, it helps time fly by when you mainly focus on listening to those over Maple's mindnumbing grind lol

i listen to things personally. but if i have to watch something else to tolerate what im doing id rather just do something else. and like stereo i play engaging classes aran bam w/k (and occasinally my old pally) so i cant really stop paying attention (well i probably could more safely now than before bb as pretty much all kinds of risky and therefore more enjoyable to me kinds of training have been eliminated). Now if i could excercise and maple well i'd go for that but as most of my cardio is swimming, and free weights+laptops just arent going to mix... i think that's out.

Whenever I play windowed mode on my desktop, it lags everything else so if I tried to watch a video, the images would be lagging far behind
. If I'm not using my HS mule I'll set up a show or music on my laptop and if I am I'll turn on the TV in my room or something. I didn't mind grinding when I played since I wanted to level up but 4 hours at a time is a lot and I do start to get sleepy if I'm not doing something else lol.

I never said I was doing it right now, was just a thought. I know to draw the line for the really good stuff, like Gurren Lagann.

I burned through several seasons of Heroes while grinding pre-BB. Spamming Blizzard is not exactly worth paying attention to. Now, it's a bit more involved because I have to move around (lol), but I still like watching stuff while training. I usually just put on a movie and watch while grinding.
