I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Jon - 2010-12-26 I really don't see them rollingback, what with the new classes and all. If they do... then... wow. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - SaptaZapta - 2010-12-26 <expletive deleted> So if I managed to get some white scrolls from the event before vaccers and glitchers took over Kradia, I'm now in line for a hellban? Gah. Guess I should move them to mules, or does that make me look even more suspicious? *sigh* And a possible rollback... but since Nexon's not paying attention on the holiday, probably not until after today's 2x. I'm not training but I'm sure my buddies and alliance will be tickled pink. <censored> hackers ruining everything for everyone. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - IllegallySane - 2010-12-26 God dang, LOOKS LIKE IT'S A GOOD THING I STOPPED PLAYING SINCE GETTING MY RINGS TRADEABLE CAUSE THIS IS ZETTA STUPID. Another rollback. Well.... seems like rollbacks are becoming the norm now. Come on Maplestory, why you so bad with exploits? I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Locked - 2010-12-26 I don't think there's going to be a rollback, personally speaking. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Muppy - 2010-12-26 ![]() I seriously hope I don't lose my perma Kino I got on my BaM with 3 Large CSS ![]() On a side note, they did re-schedule the 2x, and it would be pretty much shooting at one's foot to rollback after that, amirite? I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Mike - 2010-12-26 Here we go again... this never gets old, does it? I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - 0^2 - 2010-12-26 Maybe not but it certianly pisses people off. Honestly though is it so difficult to axe any account with ludicrous amounts of White or Chaos scrolls? :f6:Having over 500 Chaos and/or White scrolls is totally legit right and not impossible in any way?

If there's a rollback hopefully it's not too soon after the 2x event today. I want to get to at least Lv90 or something on my Chief Bandit, then I'll just hide away in my bunker till everything dies down. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Flare - 2010-12-26 anyone remember that pitch exploit? Couldn't they track down who has xxx amounts and ban them. iirc there wasn't a rollback for that or was there? I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Jamie_Kurosawa - 2010-12-26 They need to make the game more server-side oriented and use the dynamic content system to prevent most of these hacks and end free-for-all events like White Tree Hill from the game and instead use player-direct events like the Halloween event. Nexon knew this event would end up with a ton of hackers going berserk and hogging everything and they still released the event, and their failure to shutdown one of biggest know hacker communities proves they have no idea how to handle GMS anymore. You're asking too much of them. Though, really, there's been a pretty big increase in hacking since Big Bang was implemented, at least in Bera. I could name a handful of maps right now that have been riddled with hackers since Big Bang. It's not my fault Nexon can't hire programmers with a proper education, degree, and certification to actually implement better security than what they have done. It's also not my fault that they never listened to the community, when the community (mostly at Nexon's own forums) are filled to the brim with exp whores, trolls, and degenerates who blast anyone with a good idea, or Nexon goes all Nazi on anyone who challenges their system and structure. Myself and others like me have told them for well over 5 years how to beef up the security of the game, or at least front some better ideas for them, and they won't even listen or budge off their stump. And what do we as a community get in return? Rollbacks, false bans, glitches, and more hackers than ever before. Add in Nexon's inept failure to shutdown GK and others like them only adds to their list of bad ideas and complete failures. I know no game can be 100% hacker free, but Nexon should be able to detect a hack in a few days and patch it and prevent it from happening again at least for a few weeks. Do they? Hell no! Look at how many hackers we've had since 0.48 was out and the numbers have kept growing and growing since then each time. Hell Ecko hacked a GM account, though partially at fault of the GM, even after we had the PIC implementation. I've been probably permanently banned from the Nexon forums for speaking out against Nexon's failed, stupid, and inept policies regarding security, additions, and overall content management, but it's not my fault they can't take negative criticism and grow better from it. They've been in such a race to catch up to KMS, they failed to notice what else was going on around them. It's not my fault the community has been clogged with nut jobs who could care less about doing things slowly and correctly, and want meaningless things yesterday. If anything Nexon needs to just stop all content updates and focus on securing them game and wiping out hackers and the hacks they use and releasing security patches and start moving things more towards dynamic content of a 25% client to 75% server based game rather than 10% server and 90% client based game. We only need a client to get content from the server and play the game. We shouldn't have all these .WZ files at all. I've noticed at least one distro that uses a maplestory.lib file to use dynamic content. I didnt know that competence was too much to ask for. We all know that events like this (where many players pitch in, but few benefit) are complete failures from the start and that the common vac hack ruins these events. The simple solution is to have players individually rewarded for their work. I dont know enough about online games to be certain of the server sided vs client sided debate, but with what I know about programming, I'm certain just making a few things dictated by the server would significantly cut down on the hacking. Its just kind of obvious that its much harder to hack a server than the files on your own computer. Then, I cant consider nexon competent if they arent smart enough to take legal action against hacking sites or at least have an insider collecting data on the hacks so that they could be patched ASAP. @above: I loved the story of , I think his name was, RavenSCA. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Scaeva - 2010-12-26 If we get a rollback I might as well quit. I got so much things in the past week that it's not even funny: - Battle Mage to 91, my highest leveled character ever. - Loads of good items. - I spent over 10 hours a day playing Maple. If this happened, I would lose over 60 hours of time. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Jamie_Kurosawa - 2010-12-26 I really think if we didn't have sites like GK... we wouldn't have these problems as bad as they are. Wish entities like Interpol would get off their ass and do something useful for a change instead of wonder where they'll get their next donut, danish, strudel, or kung-pow chicken from. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Berzerk - 2010-12-26 Roll me back. I'll get all my money back from those stupid Cash Shop Boxes. I think some of us were expecting it T_T (Possible Xmas hill exploit + rollback) - Dusk - 2010-12-26 Oh look, another thread where Jamie_Kurosawa makes giant walls of lorem ipsum. On topic, they can still attempt a fix without doing a rollback. |
